    This is going to be wild! The build that I have been impatiently waiting for. Thanks for the tip on the hood, I'm very interested in that. And sidepipes, yes! Don't know what you decided to do as far as 4 or 6 tail lights but my vote is with 6. Very wild car all around you have the know how to go from 6 to 4 easily if you decide to later. I'm pretty sure Zora has a huge grin and can't wait either. A car with the heart of the Misfit and sidepipes. They will get hot so think about sidepipe covers, they work. Take care, stay safe, and GET TO WORK!!!

      Hey Jim I agree this build will be rad. I’ll have a video on the functional cowl hood later on. I think I will go 6 lights. I will probably have 4 at Carlisle and put 2 more in it later when I do the patina paint work. This car will hopefully be a little quieter than the misfit. It’s a little more mature. Officer #2 will appreciate that haha. I’ve been busy so don’t worry we might even have 2 videos a week because there’s so much content. Take it easy Jim!

    Your videos make me want to get my 66 on the road. My dad bought it in 1970 when he got back from Vietnam. He drove it for a few years and did some stuff to it like shaving front bumpers and flaring the quarters. In the mid 80s he started to take it back to stock, got about half way there and then life got in the way. The car hasn’t been out of the garage since then.

    • @MidYearMitch
      @MidYearMitch  Před rokem +2

      Thanks I appreciate it! I’ve done my homework and I’m happy with what I went with. The original C2’s were designed to maximize rear floor space so any chassis modifications require extensive floor changes. But that’s fine the floor had holes and cracks in it. Personally I like hand laid one piece front ends if it’s a custom car or not numbers matching. Press molded multi piece units are much more expensive and they are fantastic quality. But the hand laid ones are much more affordable. It’s all about what you want in your car. Hand laid ones can affect the value too.

    • @MidYearMitch
      @MidYearMitch  Před rokem +1

      The roadster shop offers powder coating and they do the final assembly on your chassis after. It’s my first time using their frame so I left it bare so I could do a mock-up on a raw chassis to make any alterations necessary before it’s coated.

  • @jonj1314

      @@MidYearMitch You don't need the convertible mounts. It's the mounts in front of the rear tires. IMPOSSIBLE. I own a RS frame. And the engine is centered in the frame, which makes for interesting tunnel clearances.

    Can the spec 7 chassis be spec'd for 15 inch wheels? Wilwood spindle? I want to build one that looks like a period correct, track-prepped vette with no fender flares. What about the rear? I don't think the C7 rear will be compatible with a 15 inch wheel. Does the roadster shop allow you to fine tune the front and rear track width to customer's specs and wheels? Thanks for the content.

    • @MidYearMitch
      @MidYearMitch  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks for the question. Let me start off by giving you some info about the rs chassis. They use gm c7 suspension components like the control arms, spindles, wheel bearing hubs and sway bars.
      In terms of brakes you should be able to install any kit that is made for a C7 corvette. You could probably find smaller diameter rotor kits out there if you look hard enough.
      The track width is listed on their website. It corrects the weird C2 track width. They pushed the front wheels outward and the rear wheels inward to give it a better appearance. You can’t change the track width they have. You don’t have to flare your car out to work with their chassis. You can fit C6 Z06 wheels without any body mods.
      As for running 15” wheels I wouldn’t recommend that. 15” wheels and tires have a lot of play in the side wall. You will have a crappy ride if you run less that a 17” wheel. If you have a stock chassis run bigger diameter wheels and that will tighten up your car so much. Personally I wouldn’t waste the 25+ to put a chassis under your car and take away the ride by putting on 15” wheels. It kind of defeats the purpose. I like the look of 15” wheels but it sacrifices all the engineering work that the roadster shop did.

  • @ricksmith4736
    @ricksmith4736 Před rokem +1

    It thought the C7 still had the rear mounted transmission/rear end? I thought this because most of the aftermarket frames use C4 suspension? Please lurn me..... Thanks

    • @MidYearMitch
      @MidYearMitch  Před rokem +1

      You are correct they do have a rear transaxle. That’s why a lot of companies use the C4 rear suspension and rear end. The C4 frames also typically require you to cut less of your rear floor out. This chassis uses a Camaro rear differential so that eliminates the transaxle. They have custom axles to go from the corvette spindles to the Camaro rear end. It’s a really good setup which uses the best stuff on the market today in a nice package.

    • @MidYearMitch
      @MidYearMitch  Před rokem

      I mainly didn’t get it powder coated from them because it would take another 2 months and I didn’t want to wait for that. I also didn’t want to pay 2k for it. Plus you’ll see in my mock-up video that I welded a tab to the chassis for my clutch setup. I wanted to do the mock-up when the chassis was bare metal.
