  • In this video I take a look back at my first gaming PC, a Dell Dimension 4600 that was given to me by my Aunt. This had a Pentium 4, 512mb of ram and an Nvidia Geforce FX 5200. We will go over it then throw some upgrades at it....because I can.

      Old dells are badass, I tore apart so many as a kid and I wish I had at least kept the cases for a build. The 4000 series have the mobo on the same side as a modern ATX so it would be *easier* to fit. Might old enough to be ATX? But I doubt it

    • @JTechWorkshop
      @JTechWorkshop  Před 4 lety +1

      In my research the best AGP you can get is the ATI 3850 or the ATI 4670. these cards easily go for over $100 on ebay, make sure when looking at the listings to confirm they are AGP though, because most of them are PCI-e and people will just put AGP so check the pics! These are most likely overkill for this system though, I think the x1650 I got is plenty powerful for anything I would realistically throw at this and for $30 bucks it didn't hurt too much to buy. About the processor, considering you can get a higher clocked P4 for under 20 bucks, it doesn't hurt to squeeze out any extra performance you can!

Old Atari games like I had and a couple race games I had. Power supply tosted, bought a new 450w, key board died, bought a new set, hard drive , ordered a Raptor 10k 16cashe. And for the hell of it motherboard. New windows 7 because I didn't know what system it had... Parts coming in soon..
    Ram (2gig) and Vidio card next,. But which card?
    Stock processer but it's not money at this point.. But do I copy you on that?

      Hi I'm not quite sure what you are asking, if you mean the replacement card I put in, it was WAY better than what it had before, and perfectly good for playing games of that era.

    Feel the pain of buying a AGP card in 2020. Total rip off. I don't encourage them, I refuse to buy them if they are over priced. No telling how long they will last after you get one "used".

    hell yeah a X1650 pro that's what i gamed on in a dell Dimension 8300 beck in high school
    you could upgrade the cpu cooler with the heat pipe cooler from the Dimension 8300 since dell for a long time use the same mounting system.
