This whole album blew my mind. If u listen to it from Blood to Duckworth, he lives and becomes the best rapper alive. If you listen to it from Duckworth to Blood, his dad dies when he's a kid and his life is different and he dies in a gun fight. I see why this won the Pulitzer prize.
Edit
The whole album is structured like a magazine or a periodical. Just like good kid mAAd City is a film. To Pimp a butterfly is a poem.
And section 80. Was a book. And Mr.Moral and the Big Steppers was a play.
Kendrick Lamar is the ONE!!! Period !
There's always another...but Kendrick is certainly the soul of hip hop in this present time.
@@IntentionalGainsnot exactly these times were gangbanging and the hood this will past but I'll always listen now what's we need to save is the outskirts of each state since the city done made it...compton went from boys in the hood to kendrick lamar saving it in real actual life....one thing I know what won't happen we won't be soft after it's over with will break it down and make sure we don't go thru the same shit or ancestors paved but then again it was what it was...after kendrick lamar that's it or maybe coast contra can prove something but that's about it......the end
I could give af about Drake, Drake has great music and albums, but something about Kendrick’s music is introspective, skillful, artistic and legendary just through the first listen
It's crazy how one small thing can changed multiple lives. Duck wasn't trying to lead with his pride and everything worked out 🙏🏿
Idgaf who tf u is, kendrick is more than an artist. His gift of storytelling, delivering, wordplay, word choice, flow, perspectives, and writting are really incomparable
Em is better.
@@TheLastofHasan u either a white supremasist or a child
@@TheLastofHasanyou sound like a hater. They’re both nasty and friends
@@TheLastofHasanem my fav rapper but get off his meat. Kendrick is nasty
@@Italktomystove no, i love Kendrick. I have lots of Kendrick song in my playlist. I just released my opinion.
This song blew my mind the first time I heard it. The storytelling is insane. The beat by 9th wonder, kdots word play was perfect and the conclusion regarding ducky and Topdawg was just the icing on the cake.
Just a put masterpiece bro
What pissed me off about the whole beef is Drake and his fans ever having the audacity to even think they could go against KDot
I don't like either drake was def winning till not like that
Also Drake misunderstood this song as well
@@magafam4847lmao no
@magafam4847 lmaooo at no point in time was he winning he lost EVERY ROUND 😂
FACTS!!💯
This man really is a modern day Prince. Idk how else to sum it up. Appreciate what you’re witnessing ppl, this is generational!
Kendrick concert this month bout to be 🔥🔥
Kendrick is untouchable
If you go to Kendricks's concert on Juneteenth record it i know it's going to be crazy.
Please for all of us man ik that junk gonna be a memorable event
I’ll be there I got my tickets already it’s going to be crazy
got floor tickets, it’s gonna be real
I have always loved Kendrick Lamar. I have never been a Drake fan, so the Take Down was glorious to me 😂.
I truly love the way you break down everything. As a 61 year old, I may not understand everything about the word play in a rap song, but you definitely make it clear as to what is being said.
Kdot just got a fucking way with words. It's just his word choice and the way he put it together is so dope.
This!
Commitment and a down-to-earth attitude are truly inspiring. Keep it up.
I feel blessed to be part of this generation to witness Kendrick’s era
Kendrick raps movies inside of songs, and this song not only is a master class of storytelling but also the production is fucking fire.🔥
PLEASE do "The Blacker The Berry"! In my opinion, one of the best rapping performances from Kendrick.
Aubrey could never make a song of this magnitude! DUCKWORTH. is a top 3 Storytelling Rap Song OF ALL TIME.
Enter* Meet the Grahams
Facts.
I doubt that. Immortal technique has two of the top spots. Nas has a bunch too.
“Start it from the bottom” is the closest we’re ever going to get
@@dannydecanhas3743and they are also not Canadian rich kid actors buddy
Glad Kendrick (Cali) getting his flowers over a 9th Wonder beat from NC. That’s HipHop
Please react to 'How Much A Dollar Cost'. In my opinion, that's Kendrick's greatest track, and may even be the best song of all time
Yeah Duckworth really the one that did it for me with Kendrick. What a masterpiece
Not only is it a great story, but it also serves as a perfect ending/beginning to the entire concept of the album, Damnation. "DUCKWORTH" is proof that Kendrick is not cursed. If you listen to the album from tracks 1 to 14, it's the moment he sets himself free from his fear of being damned from birth. He breaks the curse and can see the truth through his weakness.
If you listen to the album backwards, it's him telling his story and not realizing the gifts and blessed irony of his existence, leading him down a wicked path where he ends up getting popped because he couldn't appreciate his blessings and went down the path of wickedness.
I can't even remember all the times I was told I was reaching with this interpretation, only for the album to receive a Pulitzer and the collector's edition to be released with the tracklist in reverse. It's all in there. Let yourself think and reflect on the duality of the tracks.
Crazy how it take a beef to show everyone the art this man put into every track. A young black man’s life told on every track
Low key, this is arguably a top 5 Kendrick track.
Bro, this is my first time hearing this shit... And i aint gonna lie, this shit gave me the chills and made my cheecks ( no diddy) tingle. Fire
This is one of the best stories from a song I've ever heard.
Kendrick Lamar.... True artistry... Thank you..
Greatest Storyteller Ever: My X
I just love that this is a true story
DuckWorth is my number 1 he let me see the whole story in vivid detail. The whole song is thought-provoking! That Man serious wit that pen 🖊
When people try to tell me drake is better, it says a lot to me. They like no substance in their music. They want to be pacified and distracted.
A part of me is still surprised that this was a true story
You should react to ‘Prayer’ by him. It’s an unreleased song by him that leaked years ago. It’s one of his best story telling/conceptual songs. IYKYK. It’s crazy he got a song of that quality that never officially released. The man is really one of the greatest ARTISTS to ever live, ANY genre.
the beat is also amazing. simple, but works. and yeah, kendrick doing the 3 verses - reminds me of samidot. too good
I absolutely love this track !!! The story telling is phenomenal 😎
That me vs me line literally gave me closure with a lot of shit one time I heard it, shit crazy
I always point to this song when people bring up storytelling raps. It’s wild.
4 ur eyez only
Window pain
Once an addict
02 Adolescents
I mean... COLE storytelling is insane😢
Sing About me
Duckworth
The art of peer pressure
Keishas Daughter
Dot has that grip!!
Mona Lisa By Wayne too!
Lol those coles raps can't match dot songs lol 😆
ADHD should be the next one Stevie, an absolute classic and personally my all time favorite song from him!
The 3rd beat switch is my favorite beat of this song
Kendrick xxx feat. U2 is one of my favorite songs
In 2017 the album “damn” never left my cd player for a year………I swear
During one of yesterday's videos, you asked for what white people feel in relation to Kendrick Lamar songs. I replied, and that stands. And this song is a good example of what I meant when I said my last point.
I grew up very similarly to the lifestyle depicted in this music. Point by point I can relate to almost every single piece of this. Even as a white guy
So his music definitely does reach acoss melanin lines
🫰🏻
one of my fav storytelling songs
Kendrick Lamar - Ignorance Is Bliss
This is a great assessment of this song. Duckworth was always special to me.
I was just geeking out about this song earlier this week. Glad you posted this haha
Man! you said it in passing, "just shows how much Ducky's Worth" such a bar!. I know Kdot doesn't specifically say this but to me this song speaks a lot to how important Fathers are. Ducky made a decision that a responsible man makes. In the long run it can keep a young man alive. I know I'm reaching but it was just masterfully done by Kendrick
I’m starting to learn a lot about Kendrick work. I appreciate your time and efforts to bring us this info and understanding. Asé 👑 King.
React to Kendrick’s “sing about me”!!!!!!! ASAP. That song needs recognition as one of Kendrick’s best story telling tracks as well 💪🏽
This has STAYED in my Playlist since it came out. Never gets old. ❤
This one definitely gives all the things!!!!!!!!!! Such a Kdot fan!!!!!
Storytelling wise: imo
1. The blacker the berry
2. Keisha’s song
3. The art of peer pressure
4. We cry together
5. Mortal man
6. Duckworth
samidot?
How much a dollar cost HAS to be in everybody's top for storytellingz you can't leave it out man lol
@@bherbo3943 obviously he has way more than those 6. But if no one has ever heard of KDot before? Those are the first 6 - I’ll tell them to listen to, those songs story telling wise are his best imo. “Sing about me I’m dying of thirst” is up there as well.
Sing about me
How much a dollar cost
Dance With The Devil by Immortal Technique is a really good one
I really appreciate you Stevie. GREAT work!!!!
8:19 thats a sample from the band hiatus kaiyote
Stevie, kendrick lamar is having a concert on Juneteenth in LA
Great breakdown for one of my favorite Kendrick songs❤
Goosebumps.
This song always touches my emotions 😭
I appreciate this, love this song.
You broke this down well,i never gat the full grasp of it until today. But sing about me is his best story telling song.
Bru i really appreciate you doing this Dot week I live in south GA and before this battle I been fighting for my life telling my partna nem dot was the goat they still be hating but atleast they ain’t saying bruh suck no more
One of my favorite songs by him
This songggggg ugh Kenny’s talent is just 😤😤😤 amazing
Still my favorite song off DAMN! 9th Wonder did his damn thing on that track (he is the producer fyi)...
This KDot week is just what I needed. You got me into Kendrick and I just started listening last week. So, you highlighting some of Kendricks best tracks in this KDot week is gonna benefit me a lot!
I personally had a hard time understanding some parts of the song... your explanation was gold. thanks.
Loving this “Kendrick Week”🔥
Colombus p drizzy could never … and people better stop compare the goat with that Canadian and Cole
Cole is a good comparison, just stop it. Cole produced the song Stevie had the other day “Hiii Power.”
Love Dot but plz stop.
@@lordrikudouzero9119Nope. Cole's exactly where he should be right now: not on par with Kenny, whether that be commercially or critically. Still a dope artist. Not taking anything from Cole, but there are levels. He's just not elite. Cole doesn't have a story telling song in his catalogue as vivid, great as "Duckworth."
@@MichaelBrown-ti1un4 your eyes only is as good as any top Kenny song and I’m a KDot fan stop the cap, Cole can’t do a Duckworth but Kendrick can’t do a “4 your eyes only” they’re different writers and they both hit you in different ways, we need to stop putting down amazing artist to give props to others, they both unique and amazing in their own way
@@MichaelBrown-ti1un Cole is great and 4YEO is one of the greatest storytelling songs of all time. It’s cool if you like Dot better but let’s not lie
@@jchasashifacts I hate when people tear down artist just to big up another. They are both great and do different things
Bro stevie to ur last question....
After hearing royce 5'9's "Power" & "cocaine" I stood there saying to myself...
Royce is THE GREATEST storyteller walking on earth!
He solidified himself with the book of Ryan album imo.
But kendrick is obviously close behind him
The storytelling is amazing because it wasn't a twist ending, the twist came in the analysis of the situation and what occurred from accumulation of past events. A dope song deserves a dope comment lol!
Greatness
9:45 "He don't want to put that out there for the world to see"
Look at the Family Ties cover art. Kendrick was definitely banging.
Awesome story 💯
Bro, the monster freestyle is crazy and it shows k-dot been wanting smoke since the beginning
Perseverance and humility make your channel stand out. Congrats!
Interesting story about the pull that top had with a cop in Nickerson Gardens. It is the Alonzo character from training day. Which, if you don’t know, training day is based on a true story.
You gotta do “Don’t Understand” throwback top tier Dot story telling
Storytelling wise I think FEAR and Sing About me are his absolute best
Wow Wow blew my mind
Top 3 k dot song! Dont @ me lmao. Too dope. 9th wonder is my favorite producer so also bias there too
You should check out "Rewind" or "Undying Love" by Nas.
"Don't pay to Play with them Brazilians get a gym membership..."
Basically u can start the album from 14-1 & to 1-14!
I still wanna see the Kendrick vs Cole series you were gonna do stevie
It reminds me a bit of DMX how he would put you in the situation Kendrick is much more complex with the words and schemes but gives me a similar vibe
Interesting story about the pull that top had with a cop in Nickerson Gardens. It is the Alonzo character from training day. Which, if you don’t know, training day is based on a true story. also, this song is better than Drake’s whole career.
Oh my gawd!!!
Good shit
Please do fear stevie it’s too good 🙏🙏
The fact that this story is real amazes me😂😂😂. every action....
He made a verbal anthology with a great wrap around!!!
(walks in)............ Slick Rick! (Drops mic. Leaves)
I cant call it his hardest storytelling track when sing about me exist
The jig is up
for too long now even Kendrick fans have been disrespecting DAMN.
Sing about me and Duckworth hard to pick between the two. Sing about me hits you in the heart. Duckworth blows your mind.
You gotta do the heart series.
Kung Fu Kenny
I Love this track man.
I wish I could hear it for the first time again.
Kung Fu Kenny😤
Mortal Man is another track that goes wild.
People don't realise how hard it is to be able to tell a whole story in 3 minutes while also making it digestible to where casual music fans can appreciate it. That is very very hard to do. This is why I never considered Lupe better than Kendrick on any level because Lupe uses too many words and alot of lyrical gymnastics to get simple points across and it ends up making his music complexed like a rubix cube ....while Dot deliberately tows the line between being lyrical and digestible entertaining us and making what us feel what he says without sounding like a human thesaurus. That in itself is SKILL.
Can you do a reaction to cartoon and cereal if you haven’t already that’s another banger in Kendrick’s catalog
fire
9th Wonder put his foot in this beat
My 3rd favorite 9th beat behind
1. Here We go by Bootcamp Clic
2. Slumdog Millionaire by Big Remo(his artist)
4. Is the song he did for Yelawolf and Thee Tom Hardy.
