It just shows how talented they really are even showing a softer side. But don't get it twisted they f**kin rock every time they pick up their instruments.

This is something that “non metal” folk sometimes miss. The difference in tones and styles that come from metal bands is quite diverse to say the least. An increasing number of analysis type videos are also finding the level of musicianship and songwriting is on a par with classical. It’s a music style which, like classical, has never really gone away.

This was written by James and was never meant to see the light of day. Lars and others convinced him that this was a great song and needed to be put out there. Amazing to think this masterpiece was nearly never heard
James was afraid to show the band this song because he didn't know how they'd react

Elton John once told them that in his opinion, this was the best song ever written. This is my wife and my favorite song and has become our theme song.
Nothing else matters is all about: the music, the message, and the fans who always believed in them before this, their first radio and video song. Pride!
All great bands have a range of styles. The backstory of this song is very interesting, you should check it out.

one of the band members had done classical guitar classes, so this was to showcase his classical guitar skills XD
Although NOTHING ELSE MATTERS is a great song, you should react to the S&M Version of this song (Live & with orchestra). This version is really powerful in my opinion.

This is off the black album which is the album that brought them into the main stream and music off this album was played on top 10 radio so covered all genres the best business decisions in music of its time #1 album in I don’t know the songs “ Misery”and “sad but true” “enter-sandman” was the first song out and went #1 on top 20 charts. I must say it was a bit weird hearing so many different people say and singing Metallica songs

This album offended some of their diehard fans but opened up a whole new audience and then they did S & M (the making of the Black album is quite fun as a history of documentary, shown on Sky Arts in UK)

When this song/album came out, it pretty much divided the fans. It pissed off the hard core older fans but brought in a new fan base that propelled them to superstar status.
It was NOTHING like they had ever done....and it was kind of off-putting at the time. This album has evolved into a classic now, though. We're giving it the appreciation it deserves.

actually James Hetfield was on the phone with his guitar on the lab doing the intro open chords gotta go, then he wrote it more for himself not Metallica..BUT the other guys herd it and rest is history oh yes they have "Mama Said" its more a country song....also yes they´ve been around 40 years also the trilogy Unforgiven 1, 2 and 3 : Band members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and Kirk Hammett wrote this. According to Hetfield, he wrote the song about a girlfriend he once had, but when he looks back at it, he can't remember why he wrote it. Now, Metallica just considers it a song about their fans, because nothing else matters but their fans

Yes it's a Metallica song...this song Made their Hardcore Heavy Metal Fans really angry when it came out...Where those fans called them Turncoats for putting out a soft ballad song....it hurt Metallica fan base wise for about 2-3 years
