Well the mid 20s until WWII and then the early 50s thru about the mid-60s were probably bigger and better and more important for MLB, but yeah that period from 98 to around 2004 (you could extend it to 2007 but really after 04 it started to dip some) was the last great era in baseball. And it was all made possible by roids -- they made the mediocre guys good, the good guys great, and the great guys legendary and made the old guys play 10 years younger and stay in peak form.

I think if they never threw him fastballs in his zone, he would have performed better vs all other pitches in any zone. Being able to rule out even a small % of possible pitches would be to his benefit.
