I think the problem for me as a rec player is when you start with a downswing and are immediately down a good chunk of money it’s hard to keep sitting there risking more

My own knowledge of the game has improved immensely, thanks to you. Your analysis does not, mostly, seem to vary or depend on the stakes you play, and that's the main reason I keep coming back. I'd watch you play online 0.25/.50, and that's saying something. Keep crushing, whatever stakes you choose!

First, Brad, it's entertaining watching your progress. I'm reminded of some stories Dnegs tells about his early days, where he kept going broke, learning, and going back, gradually playing higher stakes, and learning from it. Every time you step up, whether it's cards, sports, music, or whatever, you find out what you're made of, and how much you want to run with the big dogs.

Serious question: If filming the big games is a distraction, can't you re-create with still shots like the last part of this vlog? Your narration is strong enough to carry it through.
To do so he would still need the detailed notes, I'd bet the notes are more onerous than turning on the camera.
Notes are 100% what takes his mind off of playing for sure. Camera work ain’t nothin

Yeah it's the note taking after filming that's more of a distraction and just feeling a little extra pressure. I really enjoy capturing sessions on video for the most part but sometimes it's nice to have a few less things to think about, especially after a big loss or in the midst of a downswing.

There is nothing wrong with dropping stakes after a big loss. More people need to do that. Nice to see you bounced back - and I would watch you play $1/$2 , it doesn't need to be $10/$20
all the time. If you can crush $2/$5 for a better winrate, that's what you should play. Also, this is what you do for a living, if filming is a distraction, then don't.
I would watch this channel at any stakes as well. Brad doesn't share his YT earnings - and I don't expect him to. But his income is absolutely a combination of both playing/filming and hopefully a decent amount from merch.

Thanks, my win rate has actually been much better in high stakes this year than 2/5, even with the $10k loss, although small sample sizes at both stakes. The filming usually doesn't affect things much, and I enjoy it, but sometimes it's nice to take a break from it.
Agreed. I love hand and strategy analysis so I'm happy to listen to penny stakes if the game talk is interesting.

I went on a pretty good tear lately in 2/5 live and some online money finishes in pretty decent fields of players and a lot of that was due to you helping me rekindle some of the fire I had lost due to a long cold spell. I'm trending upward with your help and I've noticed you and I kind of approach the game in the same way, our inner monologue is very similar based on your comments on a per-hand basis in the vlog. Keep that run good going, catch you next week!

If the ecosystem has altered significantly from “pre” Euro travel restrictions to “post”…. Those “softer” games at $5/10+ may be more and more of a thing of the past.
The skill edge (whatever that may be on avg) may begin to shrivel up a lot. I wouldn’t be surprised if that didn’t start to force a lot of people down in limits. I suspect that game selection will be more important than ever from here on out.
Moral of the story: Better to be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond.

Losing 20% of all the money you made from the previous year in a matter of five hours is brutal. With that said, to buy into a game for 1/3 of your profits from an entire year is flat out reckless. The hand where $2,500 is lost needlessly was a mistake, obviously, but shouldn't tilt you unless you're playing too high of stakes. The play that followed for the duration of the session could certainly be attributed to tilt. Important to recognize when that comes up and take a walk or quit for the day. When the table you're at starts regularly posting multiple straddles, its time to drop the ego, get up, and find a game better suited for your bankroll. Anyone that plays bigger than 2/5 knows the secret is to keep increasing the stakes through mandatory straddles and/or antes until your opponents become uncomfortable. You might think well I'm buying in with 500 bbs so no worries. Then, with a couple of slight alterations, your 500bb becomes the equivalent of 60bb
A lot of what you're saying are points based on assumptions of how much money you think I've won or how much you think I have. Poker isn't even my main source of income anymore so talking about losing 20% of what I made in the previous year isn't close to accurate. Implying that I've lost 1/3 of my income for the year is nonsensical and I wouldn't put myself in that kind of situation. Also, bankroll a term for people who are almost solely dependent on poker winnings in order to pay for their bills. I don't fit into that category. I can lose and have ways other than playing poker to get it back. I'm going to sit in games and try to make the best plays I can based on the information I have at the time. Sometimes they won't work out. It's very easy to focus on those in an attempt to make someone look bad, which appears to be your goal. My hourly is actually 5 times higher in high stakes games than it is in 2/5 this year. I'm going to continue taking shots when the games look good and even occasionally when that's not the case in order to improve. I understand how straddles work...
Finally got a chance to watch the video, and I just wanted to say a few things. Good for you for going back out with confidence and setting a goal and achieving it. Always love watching the content!

What a great vlog. When I’ve had those big ass kicker losses where it just seems like nothing I do works, taking time to think through spots is really helpful. Similarly I lost 5K at this soft NLH private game on Bros last week, but just said I was going to ABC PLO 1/2 for a while. Within 3 days I had it all back. No feeling like grinding 1k of online funds back to 9k

What really keeps me coming back is how you manage the ups and downs of winning and losing, which in a way reminds me of how to manage my mood when things aren't going my way.
