  • In today’s unsettled world, we know that charity Boards need to be able to adapt, to take risks, and to balance short-term pressures against longer-term goals. To do so, trustees need to be able to work together in ways which enable good discussion, deliberation and decision-making. They also need to build Boards with the right skills, including a close understanding of the issues a charity works with.
This free seminar - run in partnership with the Clothworker’s Company - is aimed at all trustees regardless of their experience. During the session we’ll examine different aspects of building an effective Board, including:
Exploring the practical ways in which boards can work together more effectively
Considering some of the challenges that Boards face and how to avoid common pitfalls
Examining how to build Boards with the right range of skills
And providing insights into how trustees can think about and better manage risk
The event will be chaired by NPC’s Associate Director for Strategy and Leadership, Sally Bagwell. We will be joined by three speakers:
Kit Beazley, Chair of the Finance Innovation Lab
Sonal Shenai, Investment Director at Impetus
Shan Abdullah, trustee at The Thalidomide Trust
