    With standard tools minimum thread diameter is 1,8 mm and maximum hardness is about HRC 65.

    @motel29... not multiple pitches. It will cut the same pitch at multiple diameters. For example... the same tool could cut a 1-1/8-7 and a 1-1/4-7

    i don't know about this program it does not do standard threads and the speed is too high for my mill, I only have manual control atm. other than using one tooth not sure the progrаm is helpful

    Yeah I'm confused about the multiple pitches with 1 threadmill.

      +motel29 not multiple pitches, multiple diameter holes with the same pitch. Need at least one threadmill for each pitch.

      +motel29 You could use an 8 pitch threadmiil to do a16 pitch thread if you split the distance. For a one time job with a strange pitch, use a single point tool in a sub-program. It takes a little bit, but better than spending money on a tool you might use once

      Well, as goofy as I am, MY only experience is dropping a 2-11 something NPT in the offset. I used the recip and it cut sorta decent.

    i dont think asiazzy gets this you can do multiple pitches and i would think the larger the thread the better as the one point he/she made that was valid was about small wholes.

    We want M35 x 1 Thread mill cutter for external threading. Earlier our customer was using Threading ROUND DIE for same, but now he wants to do operation with CNC and needs Threading milling cutter. Pl advise

    can I ask you about the software that is being used in this video,,, is it a special software to make threading only or its a part from CAD/CAM software? and how to get it?

      The software that is being used is SmiProg and is for thread milling only. You will need Microsoft Excel to run it. Have a look at it and download our software free of charge at smicut.com/en/software/

      Its not about using, but this is great information to those who want parts and save money by designing it them selfs. When you write the G code at home at your leisure, shop only needs to double check it so the damn thing wont slam it self to work peace, maybe do couple minor changes and can start cutting instead of using hours to write the code. If you ever need several parts machined this info will help you too to decide how its best to do. Also i didnt even know about this technique and tooling, so now i know you can do huge treads to complicated parts really easily with this so screw on lid on peace that only fits into mill is now easily possible and rather affordable even.

    Not much of an advantage:
    Small holes are better threaded by a tap/die as both flanks are supported and less likelihood of braking it into the work
    This tool only deals with one type of pitch per tool so it does not solves the problem with each tap for each hole. You still need a vast collection of them.
    Large threads cannot be done all threads at once, and a single point 60 degree tool bit will cut away any thread regardless of pitch
