#sosatisfying to break out flue tile so you can reline the chimney with an insulated stainless steel flue liner. Schedule your relining job today elementhearthandhome.com
There is actually, depending on the size of your firebox, you may be able to fit a liner within the existing clay flue. Most of the time you need a bigger liner which calls for some demolition. You're either lucky, or using a smaller liner than you need to save money.
@@stinkfinga4918 actually no. I've done everything to regulation and had everything signed off by building control. I've built dozens of chimneys over the decades as I'm a qualified brick layer . If you have a five inch stove pipe then to achieve an adequate draw over 10 meters the flue only has to be increased to six inches. If you make the flue too large the fire will over draw and damage the burner. As for saving money I always fit twin wall steel flue.
Depends on what type fireplace is installed also. If it an open fireplace you have to maintain the proper size flue to insure a good draw. If its a woodstove or similar product you also have to size the exhaust properly.
Sometimes, the inner diameter of the 8x8 flue tile is less than 6", so a 6" liner won't fit. Or 2 tiles were misaligned, so the steel liner wouldn't go down. I'm guessing this is a furnace flue.
Why the heck would they destroy that liner, a stainless steel flue liner with Vermiculite filler and jobs done with a great draw and easily cleaned. Edit Dec '23: But with the benefit of comments here I now understand there are many more situations that may need this weapon of a trade. I guess I was a bit "fired up" , got all "hot" about it 🥵🔥😅
@@anthonykaiser974 Yes thanks, I suppose I'm going on the assumption that they were gonna put a solid fuel stove down below. But I have learnt a lot here on the various reasons they would do it with that weapon to start with, it's the first time I saw one of those... still learning I guess. Happy Christmas 🎄
Brings tears in my eyes
I've just fitted a double skin steel liner in my flue. There's no reason to do all that damage. Absolutely pointless.

I agree with the dude!!
I wondered how that worked. Simple yet effective .
My anxiety of that phone looking like it’s gonna fall:📈📈📈📈📈📈📈
Why is it necessary to remove the clay tile if you’re putting in a liner??
yup this is just pain stupid!!
It’s not with a metal flue. They may be installing a new clay flue.

The necessary liner may be too big to fit.
I tell the ladies all the time it might go in a little easy but once I get to shaking.
Hahaha😂

@Baseballkid234 what was sexual? I was talking about walking into walk in freezer. Pervert get your mind checked out.

Seems like a terrible waste to be destroying perfectly good clay liners when you can just drop a SS flue liner and call it a day.
Whats wrong with the brick?

That's how ( the masonry flu tile is done tho). Yes, spend $$$ and stainless, I agree.
I would just use the flu. As long as they are kept clean, they are perfectly safe.
Possibly not large enough. SS tubes are typically round, and if they're putting out similar flow, would have to be larger diameter.

“Just act normal, okay?”
Me:
That doesn’t look like how you reline a chimney flue. That’s how you destroy one.
To the guys out there saying “no need to do that, i just slip in a liner” - please do not misinform people.
This is how you "unline" a chimney.
Santa is quiet when this dropped
The bricks abuse will not be forgotten
Never had to do this before. Had bricks fall in but never had problems with flue pipe. That’s a mess.
If cartoon Tasmanian devil cleaned chimneys:-
As long as that flue tile doesn’t have mortar behind it. Flue tile breakouts have taken me way too long lol.
Is there a risk to damage the bricks and mortar joints here ?
Sorry bro I read the Manuel that was made by 3 year old chimney sweeping boy and he says you do it the lazy and damaging way
Dumb i would of put a heat shield in and kept that flue
Do heat shields protect from creosote buildup?
@@stinkfinga4918no but cleaning your flu regularly does.
More like how to destroy a chimney.
Why damage this?
Name of this tool?
Roto-rooter 😅
What was wrong with tiles in the flue? That makes no sense!
The new destroyer three thousand….
Why'd that literally jumpscare me...
that works'
Makita skruvdragare 💪🔥🔥
Yup but the smell yummy
Why though
Is this how you make more money from your clients? Otherwise I see not point to this. Just toss a SS liner in. WTF?!?!?
They did this to replace the old clay tiles probably to make the new liner fit
That was ultra satisfying
That is satisfying in my opinion
That great!
I hope you've been fired and go to jail
