Wow....Like a highway now days...around 1988 was my last trip out to the point and its obvious this is a totally new track.... my Duel cab Hilux did it no drama's even with a full supply load on board... Im planning on rounding up the other OLD FARTS to do it all again in the near future before I get to old in my tray back, on my last trip I found a fishing bag on the track full of reels and a few hundred yards up from that 3 rods, ended up finding the owner at the point who only arrived a couple hours before us.... Thank you for this vid, been fascinating to see the changes.

Yeah. The first big hill in this track can be really problematic towing a boat still, but mostly not to bad. The 40kms of track prior to this video is however more and more corrugated every year. It's really really bone hurting.

Thanks for the video wondered what the track was like to Steep Point as we will be going to Dirk Hartog Island in 2 weeks.

Sorry - Might be a bit late in my reply. I went in May and the early corrugations were worse then ever, and the big sandy hill was really bad. The later part of the track was OK.

Looks like a 2wd might make it, but pray that it doesn’t rain

Thanks for the vid! Watched it in it's entirety. Thinking of doing this trip early October 17. Just wondering if a stock standard Pajero would handle this track OK? Is there much scratchy stuff (car is new, don't want to get it too scratched - wife would go crook)? Cheers.

The car in the video is a stock NT Pajero 2011 year. It's done it 5 years straight towing about 1.5 tonne (boat and gear). If you aren't towing anything you'll do it easily as long as you deflate your tires at the 4WD section to about 18PSI (the track in this video). There is about 130km's of corrugated gravel before this video starts (Useless Loop). Make sure you take a pump to re-inflate on the way back out. You don't want to be driving Useless Loop on 18PSI.
Some years the track has been a bit of a squeeze in places. Was pretty good this year in May, though the early part of the 4WD track was really bad, and so were the corrugations. Again if you aren't towing a biggish boat take is slow and steady will be fine.

Thanks Joel, yes did the trip out there 05/10/17. The Pajero handled it easily. The track is quite wide and no scratchy stuff to worry about. I have never come across a more corrugated section of track in my life though! Just about rattled the fillings out of my teeth! The car handled it well. The trip to Cape Peron was a breeze compared to this one. Only damage to the car was when the clamp to my home made sand flag rattled loose and the flag pole rubbed off some paint from the bumper (about the size of a 5 cent piece). That's my fault for being a penny pinching bastard and not buying a proper one to start with! Not to worry a bit of touch up paint will fix that. Fantastic place to visit and would highly recommend it to anyone with a 4WD and a bit of off road experience (though have to be prepared for some bone jarring corrugations!).
