It’s also funny that in myth’s bad ending and a lot of tangential fan works, Amelia is always making the sacrifice play to save her friends. So, if Calli didn’t prolong young Amelia’s death, she never would have saved them all.

I like this portrayal of the Reaper. He's not the reason behind why people die. He's just the guy who carries your soul into the afterlife. And that scythe isn't for you. It's to protect your soul from bigger monsters in the darkness that want you for themselves.

It also works because we don't see him wearing shorts in the start of his conversation, and that's also before we knew about him being a good guy. So in the beginning, he gives off a sort of menacing aura, but then the cloak moves back and we see him actually being this kind of a dork. And that's fitting, since Calli is also a dork.
Calli and Watson having their lore intertwine is perfect maybe at one point everyone will be connected in some way.
The beginning monologue does imply a lot tho, ancient magic keeping Gura’s long life, The Ancient One’s prolonged death through sleep, Kiara’s eventual flames of revival burning out. It’s all tangential, but it does connect myth together by the theme of death, and thus Calli’s eventual involvement
I alway imagined the girl being intertwined with their lore to be the basis of myth. Like Ame’s first time travel attempt has her rescuing a young guru from a destroyed Atlantis, Kiara’s small moments of death has her interact with Calli before her next rebirth, Ina’s first interaction with AO-chan gives her knowledge about what destroyed Atlantis and it’s only survivor which leads to finding Gura. Or something like that.
I believe at some point every holomyth lore should be connected. Not only because the debuted together (sorta), but... at some point, it was already implied that Ame was keeping an eye on them as entities beyond the humans

Calli being the reason Ame always seems to cheat death in her stories is appropriate. It’s also very sweet that since most of the fanworks like myth’s bad ending tend to depict Ame as someone who always makes the sacrifice play for her friends, so it’s appropriate that death saved her when she was young. One good deed doesn’t go undone . Cheers to 3 years, Dad!
From a purely story-telling standpoint it makes a lot of sense, too. Ame is The Heart of the Party. Without her, the five-man band crumbles. In some way, she brought everyone together as they are.

I find it fascinating that Calli despite being a supernatural being does not know all of the answers. She wonders if angels and devils may exist. She wonders about the fact in some time she herself will see her own journey end. I find it intriguing as a lover of stories and someone who wishes to develop lore himself.

This was really good, and this is my favorite interpretation of death: not a horrible monster screaming out of the darkness swinging a scythe, but just someone doing their job. A guide, maybe a friendly face, someone to walk with you from one life to the next.
I love whenever Death is just characterized as benevolent. They're not evil just doing the universes task

I honestly find it interesting to see how different people treat and personify death in stories and myth. Izanami the scorned wife, Ah Puch the cruel, Helen with her legions the daughter of Loki, GAIMINS DEATH WHO SPOKE THIS LIKE THIS RAISING MORT, to Frim trying to keep Billy and Mandy in check, to the creeping death who answered pharaoh yet passed over others. It really is a fascinating subject.
The personification of death that answered pharaoh and passed over others is called the Angel of Death in that lore. And in this same lore, angels are messengers. So even this interpretation can be consistent with that because you can "animate" this to having Death look like a mailman or package delivery driver saying "its time to go" and other things

AWWWWWWW this is a beautiful animation. Being the reaper is a horrible job, I have the utmost respect for characters like Calli who would have to deal with the deaths of children. Her eventually making a choice and saving that genius kid is wonderful.

This lore video is goated, very well written, carefully crafted BGMs, really good voice acting. If we compare this lore video to anything else, this might just be the best one out there if we don't count Myth Bad Ending. I hope to see more of this, maybe a continuation or lore about other members !
Beautiful video. Gotta love how Death-sensei was so chill and it makes sense because all he does is make sure people get well to their final destination when they inevitably die. Yeah, like, it's not their role to kill people; just to pick them up and see them off when they die, which is something not even Death itself controls, but something that simply... happens.

I'm glad they went with a version of death that is very similar to DEATH in Terry Pratchett's Disc World.
Terry Pratchett's Death definitely set a new idea in people's minds, why does death have to be dark? If a being that sees the darkest moments for people do often really existed, at a point why wouldn't they come to this conclusion?

I can't believe we haven't gotten official lore in three years. ALSO IT'S BEEN THREE YEARS! It almost feels like just yesterday Holo EN debuted. Really glad you all joined Holo and are still going strong after all this time.
This is an unbelievably cute animation and story. Tying Calli's lore and her beginning to open up to humans to Watson is such a sweet idea and actually works really well. Hopefully someday we'll finally see all the stories of how Ame assembled her own personal Avengers of weirdness.
It's always a joy to see you guys team up with Merryweather Media to make these, they put so much love and care into all their projects. Hats off to them for another phenomenal lore video under their belt.

6:50 Hearing that instrumental version of "end of a life" start up hit me like a punch to the gut. That song has gotten me through some rough days and even rougher nights, so having it play during a scene talking about giving people hope meant a lot.

Whenever i hear a story about Death, i expect dark storylines about people's undeniable fate and tragedy. Today was no exception. But instead, i met a heartwarming and hopeful story. I really, REALLY like how this story went. Not only it gave me a new perspective about death, but it also put a smile on me in my gloomy days. Thank you, Caliope.
There are beautiful things about death, but, the title of its named, hidden its other meanings as well.
Like this video show, Death has patients, it can wait for their inevitable death and still willing wait to guide you to your afterlife, when times come

I didn’t expect to cry at 10AM. DAMNIT CALLI! 🥺😭. This was so soul crushing at first and so beautiful as it went on! And thinking to myself: „wait, is that End of a Life that’s played by the strings?“, just for it to come in at the end was beautiful and soul crushing at the same time as well! This video is AMAZING.

Took me a bit to realize that the near-monotone voice Calli was doing was actually in-character for the script. No personality or life when you're dead inside.

Man ...this made me realize how good the lore and current adventures of the myth girls is , and how them becoming friends, would make a great movie. It so far fits perfectly with myths bad end and those 3d stop motions with ame (forgot the name). Imagine this with a full anime budget 😮. The fact that Amelia acknowledges the possibility of creating a black hole in her living room is both endearing and terrifying.
Honestly this lore video is so touching. Especially how she instinctively saves Amelia's life when she's a kid by the middle, then after being sent on a vacation, she ends up meeting Amelia when she's older, and the credits immediately roll, with "End of a Life" playing....and the specific lyric that plays there "I'll never find another chance to say ' *Hey thanks for saving my life.* '"

I love this, I wish we got more official content with a serious tone. The silly and funny stuff is great, too, but fan animations like Myth vs Ina make me want to see cannon serious content that is voice acted by the girls, especially when the writing is this good. I actually got a bit emotional during Death Sensei's speech.

Dang this hit hard especially when end of a life started playing in the background. I had to check who voiced death and was half surprised that it was cy yu because it sounded so familiar. I really like how the story goes and how it points out death as not being a sad ending in my opinion

Hola Calli, no se si leas esto o si quiera lo entiendas pero igual dejare el comentario, en los últimos meses perdí a alguien a quien ame como no tienes idea y simplemente llevaba mucho tiempo con una sola pregunta en la cabeza, ¿por que?, me a atormentado durante este tiempo esa pregunta, pero el ver este gran video me ayudo a entender que por mas que duela a veces no vale la pena atormentarnos con cosas que no entendemos o no tienen una respuesta clara, por que eso nos hace mas daño del que creemos, aun sigo luchando por no tocar fondo y esto me a ayudado a subir un poquito mas de donde estaba, además no creo que si ella me esta viendo quisiera verme mal y espero que ella tenga la paz que siempre necesito.
