Step by step, how I safely removed several damaged trees and tree branches after a storm. The trees are safely brought to the ground without risking my own safety. Felling trees is dangerous, if you are not comfortable, then please do not attempt.

"Cut the compression first". Always assess the situation. That split hanger was a gnarly one, but you could see that when you cut that strap, the hanging piece would be released.

In retrospect, yes. That was the first ‘split hanger’ that I have come across. Just reinforced for me how dangerous trees can be

Log choker, made for the job. Attaching up at the top worked for you, but that was the worst leverage point you could use.
