If he's able to play to PL level, he'll fit the bill.
The average fan is sleeping to the fact that there is a new meta in elitle football.
The meta is players technically capable enough to play tiki taka football and understand what to do off the ball (as it has been for years) but to also be tall and physically robust.
This is why Man City chase so many CBs. Another advantage is rhat CBs can typically be aquired at lower prices and wages allowing for more players with more rotation.
They have Gvardiol marauding down the Left wing, Akanji going where he wants at times, Stones playing basically as a midfielder but all can rotate and simply be a CB when needed for injuries etc.
Arsenal have improved by signing Rice and Havertz (I always thought was a great signing)
Villa lack this profile. We have technically gifted players but they're all a bit smaller. Issue has started to be addressed with Zaniolo on loan and Rogers in. Imo we will continue down that path - Hermoso for example. Pau a stranger One as he seems like that player but isn't physically robust in the way a Gvardiol is.
A big example of how it all plays out is on set pieces. Our attacking set pieces see us score plenty. However we play nice well thought out routines around walls which teams can't cope with.
Defensive set pieces we have not been good at. Arsenal are playing attacking set pieces in the same vien as us, but Defensively can cope with the fact that most teams play traditional set plays by lofting balls into the box. We don't have the profile of player to deal with that.
Now you could just sign a Ben Mee type player (not that rat specifically though) but you lose way more than you gain because he cannot play as we do. I do think Mings will be sold because although you want him in specific circumstances, I think our football has evolved past what he offers (again Hermoso is wanted).
Now I'm not saying every signing has to be a huge unit. Theres room for a Diaby when they are that good. However signing Rogers for more money than we sold Philogene for and the same amount as we can buy him back for after similar stats in the Championship kind of shows where it's going.
Sorry for length of comment but I think an explanation is warranted over a simple 1 line piece for what I'm suggesting.
So yeah... Denkey and possibly CBs would be the most likely mission in scouting that club.

Seems Spurs are now chasing him as well, so I think he certainty fits the bill.
Sorry for the delay in my response too I saw the length and effort you'd put into this comment and I wanted to ensure I gave you the same back!
Agreed bro, Haaland has made that a think for sure, other players like Brobbey from Ajax and David from Lille spring to mind too, the physicality of modern football is ridiculous and robust, strong, fast players with the knowhow and ability to be intricate is what top top teams look for. You think of that young lad Endrick and even he is stocky for a youngster.
City's recruitment really is top tier, to get in CB's who are doing that is just high level, its amazing and as always Pep is setting the tone and precedent for what other managers will need to do to keep up with him.
Rice was a great signing, signing of the season if they can win the league tbf.
I think Pau makes up for it with just how silky and technical he is. Rogers really excites me, I think I've said it before but he just has that Dembele (spurs) / Yaya Toure vibe of drifting pass people with ease and strength, he will be a big player for a long time I suspect.
We do need a couple of brickhouses I think, were so leaky from corners and crosses etc, defo a weak point, but one I think at the moment has been sacrificed for these quicker smaller defenders who can play out from the back and execute Emery's high line. Hermoso is another smaller defenders, same vein.
Either way in Emery and Monchi we trust, we build now for the champions league and go again! UTV!!!

@@LetsTalkVilla No problem man thanks. I struggle to type 1 line comments as my thoughts are usually webs. In anycase you usually end up receiving responses that like wise lack context having missed yours and spend even longer typing arguments only to find you mostly agree. 🤣🤣🤣
Hermoso hopefully the 1st of those kinds of signings. Spurs will be in for a few that we go for. Just a case of ensuring you get the numer 1 targets and let them have the number 2's.
