@@sabarigowtham2987 ,The language may sound similar to Kannada but the two are different. Badaga could be an old form of Kannada (Proto Kannada), which shares the common vocabulary of both Tamil and Kannada.
The hill tribes “Badagas”have very much been the natives of The Nilgiris . They could be much older than 2000 years. It could be well argued that immigrants from the plains of the Mysore kingdom have very well merged with the native Badagas and have adopted to “Badugu” ( Badugu is the language spoken by Badagas). These migrants are the lingayaths knows as (Kanakas), Wodeyas and Adikaries. This migration too was about 400-800 years back, say 12-16 century. All of them adapted to the language and the culture of the native Badagas and hence all of them were generally referred to as Badagas. There are five different Castes, they are Haruva (Brahmin),Kanaka(Lingayath),Adhigari, Badaga and Thoraya.

Buut Tipu sultan lived during 1790. So this is totally wrong information. Our village spiritual stone has inscribed before 900 years. Pls refer below material. And one more thing, before 1850, Nilgiri is under Mysore Samamthana and only Britishers took Nilgiri to Madras presidency since they had the Collector office in Coimbatore. Which means, we lived in the same place and you guys just changed the name from Mysore to Tamilnadu and telling we migrated. What a foolishness. If you don;t have knowledge pls don't blabber.
