A team of special force ops, led by a tough but fair soldier, Major "Dutch" Schaefer, are ordered to assist CIA man, Colonel Al Dillon, on a rescue mission for potential survivors of a Helicopter downed over remote South American jungle. Not long after they land, Dutch and his team discover that they have been sent in under false pretenses. This deception turns out to be the least of their worries though, when they find themselves being methodically hunted by something not of this world.

Every single frame, every single line of dialogue is a masterclass.
My favorite movie, used to watch a vhs edited for tv version in the 90's my parents let me watch. Been hooked ever since.
John McTiernan, man... one of the greatest action and suspense directors ever.
@@mattjargon at 8years old my dad sat me down with my younger brothers to watch this version. It was an event in our household.
Arnold's acting is so natural here. He REALLY looks like that badass veteran major 💪🏻👊🏻✌🏻
Arnold Schwarzenegger was a tanker in the austrian army. Many people in the casting had some type of military culture and familiarity.
@@tunnel-stash oh I didn't know that. Well , that DEFINITELY showed here ✅✌🏻💪🏻👊🏻❤️
Hats off to Casting director n Director 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing this fact 🙂
The acting of Arnold is beyond what most people seem to notice. Its nice how he eased his partner when he mentioned Afghanistan. This is a gem 💎
Yea he really came a long way in the terms of acting skills. Dutch was getting uneasy with the situation, but was trying to mask his emotions to not lower his men's morale, arnold nailed the scene.
R.I.P. Carl Weathers (Dillon)
"Remember Afghanistan?" .... "Tryin' to forget it!" .... well, that didn't age very well!
The soundtrack of this movie was esplendid. One of the best of all times.
Amazing movie, not a single frame is wasted. So much is going on and it all builds the characters . Great performances from all of the cast and the soundtrack is out of this world!
They edited the dialogue. He actually said "it looks like a CIA bird to me" I see they changed it to "surveillance mission". That's tragic.
But why?
Now that is weird...
Mandela effect
You can even see that his mouth doesn't move the way it would to say surveillance.

This movie was my fav in 1987, and remains my fav in 2024. All these years and they still can't make a better movie.
it combines action, sci-fi and horror and excels at every aspect, like Aliens. we will never see another movie like those
One of a kind films, for sure.
sleep in peace Carl Weathers.
man, he sure wore that mustache with grace
RIP Carl Weathers and Sonny Landham!
Best action movie of all time
Naw typical 80s run and gun like every 80s movie out there. John wick is the best action movie hands down
@@IKnowImGayWhenISayThisBut bro listen... you sound like you have a death wish by telling FU to a great masterpiece. John Wick doesn't come even close.
@@IKnowImGayWhenISayThisBut John Wick is a good movie, but come on man.. You're only kidding yourself.
In this film u Can see and feel a sense of camaraderie Amongst them, like they have been through a lot together and work so well as a team something that you don't get in the sequels 😮
Yeh but Dutch is suspicious of Dylan and knows something stinks about the whole situation. This movie is apparently based on a true story as well.
Nowadays, poor writing means that a character has to TELL you that they served together and give a history. Here with each scene and frame and dialogue, they sound experienced, even world weary ("trying to forget it") but hardened. McTiernen was on a roll in the late 80's - 90s....
That’s a really good point
So true.
100 times better than most the new ones, proper good

100% this never gets old. I watch this about once a year.
@@merleinaustin When this was released on VHS in 1988 my mom bought a copy for me and my siblings. I must have watched this movie over a 100 times now through the years. It is my favorite Arnold film by far. Sure Terminator will always be the film that most people will know Arnold from but Predator will always be my favorite👍👍
This and Aliens all time favourites!
aged so well
The sound is sooooo sickkkkk best sound on a movie!!!!
I've been to that helicopter crash scene used in the movie. The wreck is still there, and there's a tequila bar nearby. Also, Night of the Iguana was filmed there at the shore.

The music score and surround sound mix was Oscar class….
It was like you were really inside the jungle. Only thing missing is the heat and humidity.
This can be improvised by turning on gas heater and a smoke machine. Then you will really be submersed entirely into the scene and yeah have your mates bring a few Guns n M16’s and machetes if you are watching in America!!! Just limit the alcohol and drugs and make sure they are NOT loaded!!!

Nobody ever talks about the grappling hook.
Something takes the grappling hook off, holds it in the air, and then puts it back.
Early glimpse of the predator checking out the new meat?
Or some sort of prop glitch?

WTF happened in Afghanistan???
they are referring to the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, during that war, the CIA funded, armed and trained the mujahideen fighters (who later would become the Taliban) so they could fight and defeat the Russian invaders. What happened in Afghanistan?
Don't ask. I'm still trying to forget.
At that time, in the 1980’s, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. The Mujahideen resistance was armed and aided by the CIA. Either way, the Soviet Union lost in what was practically and essentially their own version of the Vietnam War.
