Rerelease RUBIES 1989 Batman Collectors Mask Unboxing Review

- This is a review of a rerelease of the Rubies Costumes mask for Batman, modeled after the Michael Keaton 1989 Batman Mask. I was able to pick it up at a local Walmart and I have used it as a display, although I have considered converting it into another mask to use for cosplay. Batman suit upgrades, custom Batman suits, Classic Batman cosplay and various Batman cosplay cowls built by fan creators.

Hey, looks good on you! I just bought one of these. What amazes me is that the photo on the box looks terrible but once you open it and put it on it looks really good. Strange that the symbol in the box is different on the outside. 🤷♂ I like both, so it's not an issue for me.
That was the shocker to me also. I think the reason why the pictures are so deceptive is because there are different versions. I think the original had a split up the back, where this one does not. I am waiting on my PatBat Rubies cowl now. I will be doing a review when it arrives. I have seen some pics and it might be the best one yet! Thanks for chiming in!
Saw one on the clearance rack at walmart today- almost passed because I only want a Batman mask with the tall ears. Luckily I opened it up to inspect it, and of course I got it. Box picture looks horrible and nothing like it
While not official there are recasts of this cowl available on AliExpress if you look hard enough
It actually fits your head perfectly- your jaw and cheeks fill out the space well.

Nice! I'm on the hunt for one myself. I think with some TLC it could be a fantastic display piece and for a cheap price.
Try a few local Walmarts! Go to the Electronics section and look for the retro video games (Ms. Pac Man) or the Funko Pop stuff. That's where they will be. I have been hearing that the Batman Begins and the BatFleck cowls are actually nice also. For $50 dollars, or as a display piece, you can't beat it. Beware of the Amazon cowls. I was going to do a video about my experiences and wasted money. May still do it, but I swear the over seas vendors are pedaling junk!

I just got this for 34 dollars a few weeks ago from Walmarts price matching, what a great deal, I'm going to do my first cosplay ever with it
I knew someone would stumble upon one at a discount, even though $50 isn't bad! Congrats and you might want to hit it with some PlastiDip!

@@pinksuithenry7560 no. It's as expensive as your average can of paint and if you stand back and dust it, 6 to 8 inches from the cowl and let it dry in coats, it will be fine. Enjoy!
Wow for fifty bucks not bad of a mask looks pretty good mine I got was more cheap looking from them rubies so looks like they improved the quality is there still that cheap Velcro in the back my old one did it broke off too .
I found out about these from one of the Batman pages I belong to on FB. A member posted the find and I went out that night. I had to go to 4 different Walmarts to do it, but as you can see, I was successful! However, there were only the BVS cowl and the Keaton one. There should also be a Dark Knight version. Go and look by Electronics, possibly where the videogames are, or those Funko Pop things.

@@masterofnone7977 cool yeah don't see the Velcro on it so that's good I actually was able to get a Keaton cowls from one of the sellers he is the admin of the batman cowls page his Keaton is very accurate fanatic FX

Walmart! I doubt if you can find one there now, and most people selling them privately are asking triple the price. If you check out my other videos you will see that I had one commissioned by Hernandez Sculpture EFX. My Rubies is just a display now.
I found one "out of the box brand new" for $70 is it worth that much. 89 is my favorite batman style, character. You just cant beat micheal keaton and tim burton.

Hey Mike! It was like $52 with tax. All of them are, depending upon which one you find. It's been out for a while now, you might be able to find one in the clearance section. Happy Hunting!

Hey! I got it from Walmart. I doubt if you can stumble across one now. At the time that I got a heads up on them, I found the last 89, and there was only one Batfleck on the shelves. Right now, everyone is on the look out for the Batman Beyond Batarang and a few of the grappling hooks. Check out Electronics, over by where the video games and Funko POP figurines are.

They WERE $50, after The Batman came out. A special release, I think. Maybe go to Rubies site, or Google now.

I doubt it Ryan. My head is 23.5 and I have a sliver of room. maybe if you cut the back. Personally, I would talk to someone at Hernandez Sculpture EFX, or Gauntlet FX about a custom cowl. It's going to be more than $50 but if you are a cosplayer and will actually use, or display the cowl, it won't be money wasted. Keep me posted as to how it goes. Hey Corey! I am actually trying to figure out how to do a BATMAN BEYOND with it. I don't want to damage i, although I might have to PlastiDip it. If I change my mind and you are still in the market for one, I will sell it to you for cost, plus shipping. It irritates me when folks get profit hungry.
