  • 17 of the largest companies in Solomon Islands are now taking action to promote gender equality in the workplace through Waka Mere, an IFC initiative in partnership with the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI). And it’s having an impact. The companies and their female employees share how they benefited from having leadership courses, moving women into jobs once exclusively for men, and creating respectful workplaces that address domestic and family violence.
This initiative is under the Pacific Partnership through which IFC, the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade work together to stimulate private sector investment and reduce poverty in the Pacific.
