That's another example of a choke system being just slightly more complex than it needs to be. Good catch( and fix )

@VintageEngineRepairs auto-chokes are my favorites because users don't always know when to stop choking a motor. This one was of the design that got the worst of both worlds

I find that it usually is something simple that causes the owner to toss the piece. Those cables can be problematic.
Spot on Jim, you’re quite right, often doesn’t take too much to get going again, unless they ran them low on oil!
