Prince Naveen was voiced by a portuguese actor, and Naveen's name is more sounding of an indian or middle eastern name and the Naveen seems to be Latinized. So he is more of a latino, black, indian or arab whatever the real descent he is,. He is like the first disney prince to be of mixed-race
Actually no he isn’t the first mixed raced but whatever
Yeah I agree with your point, he could be mixed, but all I'm saying is Arabs don't usually keep A name like Naveen, ig his accent, features and his parents attire at the end should confirm that he is Of the Indian Subcontinent, but then again Disney left him without a clear ethnicity so idk
@@user-cg4cp8xx9g yes but what was only confirmed is that he isn't black or lightskin black. So for sure he gets the brown skin as being hispanic/latino or Asian (south asia/middle eastern) type.
@@IamproudAtin13 I agree he isn't black, people need to understand there is a difference in being Brown and Black :))
@@user-cg4cp8xx9g As an Asian Brown girl. I agree
he needs the accent hazel eyes and longer hair
I feel like Idris Elba, or like a Jesse Williams????
Dio Both way too old, and Naveen isn’t supposed to be black
@@BunnyFlowers ???? Umm yes he is?
Pineapple Pen Um, no he’s not... If he was, then they would’ve had a black actor do his voice. And the guy playing him at the Disney parks is never black either. They intentionally made him racially ambiguous. That’s why a lot of people were upset when the movie came out, because we finally had a black princess, but not a black prince.
@@BunnyFlowers yeah I always though he was of Hispanic/Indian descent 🤔
I freaked out when Prince Naveen said that he was the prince of maldonia!
Shelby Dickson me too!
When he introduced himself all I could think of was that he should have been hit with a book. lol
i was hoping that a dude that was hot like naveen was real sjskssk but he doesn't like like him😔😂
Me too. But I don’t think any guy as hot as Naveen exists. If he does let me know
@@belle369 there is a tiktokers called justbeingkareem. He looks exactly like naveen.
Exactly I’m pissed
Im not used to naveen sayijg a full introduction of himself without being squshed by a book before saying " of maldonia"
ocean scene same 😂
Im convinced Mekia Cox just plays the same roll with every character I see of her 😂
One of the thing that drew me to Naveen was his accent and how he sprinkled in worlds from Maldonia and sometimes added “yes and no” to the end of his sentences. Also last time I checked Naveen had charm not what ever this is. How come when cute boys with actual personalities get totally messed up when someone does a live action version.
(Expect Aladdin from the new movie)
The live action Aladdin had 0 charisma and charm, they made him all akward and dumb
@@a.g.m9078 lol 🤣
Idc what anyone says but that is NOT prince Naveen.
Period lol
No the heck ain't him what did they do.
In Once Upon a Time it’s Prince Naveen.
Where’s the accent???
OUAT can only get some characters accurate to their respective movies… Meg and Naveen are two of the characters I can think of who are so different than their actual animated counterparts.
He’s not suppose to be black... seen prince Naveen at the Disney parks plenty of times and he’s always Indian Hispanic or just really tan..
Yeah. That's what I am saying
He is black🙄🙄 his hair just kinda curly/ wavy
@@IHateEverythingInIife no. His hair looks indian
@@IHateEverythingInIife I never heard of a black guy with an Indian name
@@IHateEverythingInIife Naveen is Indian look it up
Okay this is all wrong, neither of them have the accents they’re supposed to have and while Naveen MIGHT have some African in his background, he’s not supposed to be a black guy. Naveen is an Indian name, and the made up country he’s from (Maldonia) is like a mixture of Maldives and Macedonia. If anything, he’s a mixture of Indian and Mediterranean, and maybe some black. And the guy who voiced him is Brazilian
Your right. He's basically mixed race Indian and European (Mediterranean) that would explain his Brown skin tone and Portuguese accent. He's not black he doesn't look like Tiana ..
@aaa basing his features from the movie, he looks quite indian or arabian so it still doesn't make sense to make the character black lol
Disney already said he is not Indian. He can be Black. What is with y’all issue with black people? Geez.
@@getdownonit8753not at all its clear he was Infian
Prince Naveen is Probably Indian or Indian Creole{mixed by generations} his name is do indian
Not usually like this but... daaaaamn Prince Naveeen is fiiiiine!
He’s supposed to be from Indian and Hispanic background, this is disappointing
True
He should have been black the whole time if Disney wasn't so racist.
Sea Pea nah because it’s just making the movie more diverse by adding a different race
@@DefSquadFan he’s black
@@DefSquadFan I've literally never heard a black guy having a sanskrit name like Naveen, but alright, his ethnicity is still in the dark, but a dark skinned person doesn't necessarily mean they're Of Black descent
I'm so surprised at how people are commenting on Naveen having the wrong race and no one is saying anything about Cinderella being portrayed by a Hispanic actress 😂
Cinderella has already been done over again many times so what race plays her doesn’t really matter. Maybe it’s because Naveen was the first of something within a movie that was first of something. Also the Disney princess and the frog movie is completely different the grim brothers tales. I’m sure people would react the same if it was the frozen characters
Probably cuz a lot of people didn't even know that was supposed to be Cinderella. This show is fucked up
I can't wait for it!
As an avid lover of Princess and the Frog, I'mma have to say OUAT got this one DEAD. ASS. WRONG. 2/10. Everything's wrong but I do love who they picked for Tiana and Naveen so there's that.
naveen is a black man, he has hispanic and indian roots but he is black, he was molded with characteristics of an african. her lighter skin in the film doesn't take away her blackness, it's racist to doubt her.
He looks nothing like a Black man. Stop taking away Black women who want to see themselves with other races
He’s not black. Naveen is a south Asian name and I know a lot of brown boys who look like him. His parents were wearing traditional south Asian clothing in the end of the movie too…
I never knew i needed...
I love ouat
J'adore la série once upon a time avec tiana 😊
Greaaaaatt acting
She could at least try a southern accent
I don't think Tiana is supposed to be southern in this show... Also maybe the directors told he not to
She needs an endearing southern accent
I don’t like that they don’t have any accents 🤦🏾♀️ I was so disappointed.
I thought Naveen was Indian asian,my childhood has officially been a lie.
You people are crazy. He was always black
He’s not completely black at least part black and Hispanic
XxKawaiiCookies You know black hispanics exist right? lmao
He’s brown I’ve never seen anyone black play him at Disney
@@corsariocapitao stfu he's Indian. Look at his name. For God sake look at his facial features
Tiana is Creole, why she so damn proper?
She So Niyah Because creole people don't all talk and act the same.
@@gracehonesty2677 but the cartoon she is very southern
Because in the actual show she is a Princess by birth, but she did struggle when it came to financial stuff, but she’s kinda more like her character in the land without magic
I think prince naveen is originally Brazilian decent
Tiana- YAS
Naveen- NAH
Bruh they did the impossible and ruined Naveen
Low key ship Hook and Tiana, but I still like Naveen
I thought Prince Naveen was supposed to be Indian 😂
It's Mecah he is aha
Neither one looks like Tiana or Naveen🤨
here Mekia looks like a Baroness from Cruella
Not to be rude but I think Sterling Sulieman would have played a better role as prince Naveen
……….
no offense or anything:3
TWD Fam no..... go on google and look up Rome flynn
@@horseman1275 yeah. that's Prince Naveen
Agreed!
¿Porque no sé inglés?🥺😭💔, No entiendo nada que alguien me explique plis🥺
To all the Black Naveen Naysayers... Did you have this much of an issue with belle not speaking French nor having a French accent?? NO one in Aladdin speaking with a middle eastern dialect, and I'm sure you lost seep over a Black woman being cast as Rapunzel???
Please understand that the show is purposely trying to be progressive and inclusive, you guys are showing that you aren't ready to evolve socially. I love seeing a deliciously attractive Black man as the prince
Well Naveen was the only representation us South Asians had. Taking representation from other minorities isn't the way to go I believe.
Rituraaj Datta literally right like we barely got none
@Dani Does babes… pls don’t take this away from us… like he’s most likely south Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan etc)… do you know how frustrating it is to see brown men be the butt of the joke and poked fun at constantly by the western media? Then we finally got a representation of a south Asian man who is desirable, funny and charming and it just makes us south asians feel so proud and happy to finally get the rep we deserve. Don’t take away from other minorities please it’s not a cute look.
Lol he isn't black. He's most likely mixed- South Asian and Brazilian . His Indian name, the fact that his kingdom's name is a combination of Maldives and Macedonia and his mom wearing a sari at the end of the movie. On top of that, his voice actor is Brazilian.
@@drmether9150 I'm referring to THIS actor being black for "Once Upon a Time" specifically geez people!
Disney dropped the ball, by not making tiana's love interest black in the 2009 animated film, they realised the mistake they made and fixed it.
No ppl are just racist that naveen is Indian. That’s just like making mulan Middle Eastern, or jasmine black.
He's ethnically ambiguous
@@kkm5967Disney said at a press conference that Naveen was not Indian and that his race is completely made up. Therefore he can be Black or Indian if you’d like.
OUAT was written by completely different people. They didn’t “fix” anything. Naveen is perfect as is, with Indian and Latin influence. Interracial relationships are just as worthy of representation
why isnt this on hulu
Rheonna Yancey it’s on Netflix
I love it and what’s this stretch to him being Brazilian and South Asian? Why would he be in New Orleans 😂
Same! Much prefer this Naveen. He needs to be live action Naveen
Wasn't prince naveen Indian? Like actual Indian guy.....
Ummm.... was anyone in OUAT like their traditional characters , rumplestiltskin was the beast in beauty and the beast and the crocodile from captain hook and peter pan , and everybody knew his name... its fairy tales for crying out loud.
Detective Harper.
I don’t know why y’all are mad prince Naveen is black in this. I’m glad to see a black prince.
Because the original character is not black but more Indian
Same
@@bobbig8837 Oh, but Cinderella was originally Latina and Dorothy was was gay? I just find it curious what people do and don't complain about.
@@SJYNYC girl... in what world was cinderella latina? Or Dorothy gay? I dunno what buzzfeed click on you pressed but cinderella was most likely white, and it was the actor, Judy garland that was considered a gay icon. Not the character. A little research can do wonders my dude
@@SJYNYC also, regarding the character from my original comment, taking away another representation of race or ethnicities from another group is not the best thing
His spears?
Sigh. Naveen's country is fictional, why are people so intent of nailing down his race? Disney itself said it's "left ambiguous'. As for "his name is this....".So what. My name is Sean but I'm black, not Irish.
Umm... This is dumb 🤣
Tiana is suppose to be in her 20's why she old? And why is ariel hair not red?
Yikes the acting is so bad😂😂😂
Lame
They’re both terrible, they don’t convince me that they’re Tiana and Naveen at all.
They’re both missing their accents and it’s distractingly painful when you’re trying to pass off these actors as the actual characters.
Tiana and Naveen deserve better than this, I’m really disappointed.
Prince Naveen isn't black wtf.
prince naveen was most definitely middle eastern but okayyy
He’s actually south Asian… which is obvious given his name, his parents traditional clothing and the fact that he’s from a place called Maldivia or summ which sounds a lot like a south Asian country called the Maldives which a lot of my ancestors are from. And plus he just looks like a brown boy
Not to hate on this actor but with all due respect prince Naveen is not black as a matter of fact he’s a descendent mixture of French and Indian (Asian, not Native American ) so obviously though he’s dark skinned but he doesn’t have any black roots whatsoever. I’m gonna get a lot of hate for this and I understand that most people want characters to be played by different backgrounds like Ariel and queen Charlotte, all I’m stating is the original facts from this character
Prince naveen is indian but as usual racism be like
Stop black washing everything. He's brown
Lol blackwashing
Naveen Sha late comment but naveen was proven to be Indian his race was really never proven
Shut up his race was never proven he can be whatever
Exactly 🤦🏻♂️
