    Hey Murray, you tried growing some moringa trees on your property? They make excellent feed for plant eating fish and tend not to be short in iron and calcium like feed for the fish tends to be. It is known as the most nutritious plant on dry land. Also try growing tree collards in aquaponics.

    • @MurrayPonics

      Hi Xwing, I do have two Moringa trees. I need to get a few more going. I will follow up on tree collards. Thanks for the info on that.

    That's one thing we have an overabundance of here in Maine is fresh spring water. I Use a ram pump to get the water about 100 yards to my 2000 gallon storage tanks. Hang in there Murray.

    Nice tour Murray. I do aquaponics over here in Trinidad &Tobago. We are in the middle of our rainy season, with floods in some areas. Wish we could send you some of this water. Lol

    • @MurrayPonics
      @MurrayPonics  Před 4 lety

      That would be good if you could send some water our way. So dry here it is hard to imagine if it will ever rain again.

    Very nice system, plants are very healty :)
    About water production: I see some small setups with "Solar Panel electricity" and "Big Humidifier" used like water generator. You have a very big system but if you scaled-up maybe work.

    • @MurrayPonics
      @MurrayPonics  Před 4 lety

      That may work, not sure about how systems like that may scale up to be effective.

      @@MurrayPonics since aquaponics use less water than soil garden catching the humidity is great idea.. set one up to grab the water that just evaporated

    Nice tour Murray. I'll be coming to do an in person tour soon. Really looking forward to it and I hope there are still plenty of plants in the systems. Sorry to hear about the water situation. I can't find statistics on how much water Aquaponics uses in comparison to soil gardening. Do you have any figures?

    • @MurrayPonics
      @MurrayPonics  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, it is generally accepted the Aquaponics uses only 10% of the water needed to raise/grow the samp plants in a regular soil situation. We would have run out of water a year ago if doing regular soil growing.

    When you mentioned sand bed. I couldn't help think: "what's the secret? 3/4 inch gravel. Then people go away thinking silly old cow. Then they go and use sand or some other diabolical mixture.
