  • An honest review of Samsung's newest and biggest smart refrigerator with built in android tablet. With over 26 cubic feet of storage space, does this Samsung refrigerator have everyone you need for your family? And does your family need an android like screen built in to the refrigerator. The Samsung side by side refrigerator can provide music, info, internet, news, weather, bulletin board, photo gallery, grocery list, picture of what is inside and so much more.
    This product was provided by the Seeds program in return for an honest written review. Home Depot has nothing to do with the making of this video review.

    Almost all new refrigerators come with the bue-ish LED lights and they look great. Frankly, I found your review very bland. You seem too old school to appreciate the slickness and beauty of that fridge, complain about very minor things. I don't have it yet but I am about to buy it on sale for $1,899. I saw it at Lowes and the pricepoint is excellent compared to other fridges I looked at.

      Sorry you find the review bland, but a frig that retails for over $2000 should have the basics covered and this one doesn't. The storage space is too narrow, shelves aren't adjustable, horrible cheap blue LED lights, no light at water/ice dispenser, no drip tray, and useless interior camera. Yes the stainless steel skin, and the huge built in screen are cool and hip, but don't make up for what a refrigerator main job is; which is to store and keep food cold. The fridge may look cool, but the minor things like having to move everything in front out of the way to get to something in the back because the shelf is narrow becomes a major annoyance.
      Good to hear you got it on sale, hope to hear back from you when you have had it for a while. Thank you for sharing and watching.

    I love the blue lighting. I cannot see very well, so when I open the refrigerator it's bright and gives me a happy feeling, versus the normal soft white bulb which is not as bright.

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  Před 3 lety

      I agree the LED is a vast improvement over the old light bulb, but the color temperature should be a lot lighter. These days blue LEDs in products are a sign of going cheap.

    I was so inclined to this refrigerator. since it comes up with Ring doorbell $249 value as free on top of already discounted price. After seeing your review, I'm a little hesitant. Thanks for your review. It help to make me rethink about this gadget.

      Sundar sometime the eye candy can be distracting. Determine what you really need in a refrigerator and focus on that when looking. Like I say in the video for some the display panel is exactly what the need for the rest of us there are less expensive units with more features. Good luck on your search and thank you for sharing your experience.

    Hi there, I know this post is from 4 years ago but I was hoping you could tell me how was your refrigerator working now? I purchased the Samsung family hub refrigerator about seven years ago and I’m in the market to buy another one. I was looking at this one. Have you had any problems with the mechanics of the refrigerator like the cooling or the ice-maker anything to that effect…any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  Před 4 měsíci

      Curious why you are in the market for another, hope it still working. While this is not my favorite frig, I miss the old frig with freezer on top. It was just easier to find things. Beyond that this frig has been faultless all these years. I bypassed the water filter (czcams.com/video/k3GG5u51x_0/video.html) and with the exception of no built in light at the dispenser I have had no issues with ice, water, or it icing up. It maintains it temps without having to manually readjust. So far it has been maintenance free. The family hub is not as useful as advertised, I sometimes use it to stream music, check weather and run several timers when baking bread otherwise it sits on the home screen. Hope this helps.

    I know this is a year old but can you tell me if the door swings out flush? Or how much extra space does it require for the door to swing out to 90 degrees.
    And when the door is open 90 degrees do the slide out drawers open without running into the door containers?

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  Před 3 lety

      Good set of questions, the door does not swing out flush, it will hang over at least an inch. With the door at 90 degrees you have 6 inches to slide a bin or shelf forward. That is plenty for reaching inside of the bin. If you need to remove the bin or glass shelf for cleaning, you will need to open the door to 180 degrees. Thanks for watching.

    If my internet goes out, can I still control the family hub to control temp/basic function of the fridge?

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  Před 3 lety

      Yes, you'd be able to control temp, but apps like browser, recipe, morning news, music apps, etc which need internet would not work. The more important question to ask what happens if the display goes bad.

      So far no issues with the fridge or Family Hub. I did remove the water filter czcams.com/video/k3GG5u51x_0/video.html as we did not need it with our city water. I did notice during a two day power outage that it was able to keep stuff frozen in the freezer section. Hope this is helpful.

    It is clear from your review that you need the $600 fridge with no features. All the negative items you list because of technology are positives in my mind. Maybe stick to what you know and enjoy your paper and yellow light.

      Bryan, two plus years later and I still think have the same opinion about this fridge. Glad you were able to see the mentioned disadvantages in a different light. I love tech, but this fridge relies on the screen for everything, meaning if the screen fails you have to either order a replacement panel which currently cost $1,166.80 or trash the entire unit. Had they mounted the controls on the inside, a panel failure would not alter fridge operation. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

    • @BryanPoulsen
      @BryanPoulsen Před rokem

      @@cfldriven I opted not to go with this fridge after seeing the model in store. The clock was somehow severely out of date and because of that every HTTPS certificate wouldn't load and the panel was completely useless. I am also not a fan of Samsung's take/use of Android. I also think their camera technology works great on the French Door model fridges, but for a side-by-side it is pretty useless (unless you only care about the two shelves). Thanks for the review.

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  Před rokem

      @@BryanPoulsen Actually the WiFi connection with this fridge has been very solid. Even after a power outage the system comes up with the correct time and date. It handles spring forward and fallback all on its own. The Samsung OS Tizen is stable and the latest updates which include access to Samsung TV make it more interesting if not a little more useful.
      Agree on the side by side the camera is just a gimmick we don't bother with.

      When we empty it to pack the cooler, it takes several hours to get a couple of cubes. If you're having a party you need to stock up ahead of time as this won't keep up. For normal use it is okay.

      The hidden handles like the door knobs are high touch areas and thus they should be regularly cleaned. The hidden handles just make it harder to do. As to your question, if it makes it onto the refrig door, it is dealt with in short order. Stay safe.

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  Před 3 lety

      You are right, I was using Android as a generic. In reality Android was developed by Google and uses Linux as does Samsung's Tizen. At first glance the two can appear to be the similar although closer inspection reveals differences. Thank you for keeping me honest.
