Thank You for remembering thia song and band!! I had that album! I also like the song; "Elevator!" The Bay City Rollars were a unique band! RIP Leslie and the others whove passed on from that awesome band!❤❤
Love this song, love watching Bay City Rollers videos and many other 70's artists, brings me back to a time when all was wonderful. I have many memories with 70's songs playing. Wish I could go back and relive some of those days when all was good, but you were too young to know it.
What a change, matured Rollers making music similar to the American Beatles Cheap Trick Simpler fun times before Covid 1979 was a Fun Time, Even the song 1979 is good
After all these years and being a Bay City Roller fan I can't believe how much I have missed hearing this song. Just today I was thinking about it and decided to search CZcams. To my surprise here it is! Thanks so much. Brings back so many memories.
Duncan Faure was and is a wonderful singer and musician. I agree that American radio and the fans should have given the post-Leslie Rollers a chance. I should know, I’m guilty of being one of them.
Such a great song love the lyrics and Duncan's voice I feel he really added something great to the Rollers not to take anything away from Les they were just unique.
I was a huge fan of BCR through to the end. I am feeling nostalgic and have been binge watching footage. I am seeing them through brand new eyes! They were simply a fantastic band!!!! They started out as teenyboppers and grew into mature musicians writing great music. I've just downloaded "Love Fever" from iTunes in 2017 :D
I've been binge watching all of your videos on BCR...I was only about 6 or 7 in their heyday but of course I loved Saturday Night..and I was making a video list and next thing I know...I can't stop watching!!! Lord help me...I love Eric so much..and Ian and Pat...I like Woody.. !!!
The music is awsome, and althought i came to know this group by chance when i was a kid, much later than when the group was still around , it seems timeless... the entire album is a classic and hard to find. It gave me a nice feeling to listen to it again . Much diffrent from todays music.
First heard this song when Duncan Faure was still with Rabbitt . Was heartbroken when the band broke up and Duncan and Trevor Rabin went overseas but they have both down us proud - what talent. Proudly SA!
@@jeannieepstein6765 it was great times , wish we could all go back in time where are you at ? I'm now living in arizona , I hope to hear from you again !😀
@@ClassicRockFilms It was called Rock Rabbitt because of the big Rock in Duncan's yard by what becomes his studio later. Remember Rabbitt became huge mostly because of Duncan, not Trevor.
No damage. The audience who were there fans stuck by them. The general public never lost sight of the Rollers as far as I saw. Turning out for them thru the decades. Not sure about any others who did not seem to know who was with Les line up band.
Love this song but what most don't realize is that this song was originally written by Duncan Faure when he was in the band Rabbitt which was his famous band before the BCRs. Listen to the Rabbitt version, it rocks and I do like it better than the Rollers version. Duncan wrote this song and pretty much Eric rearranged it.
On the Elevator album the song is credited to Faulkner and Faure because Eric reworked the verses as they didn't make much sense and were sounding too prog rock. There is a 2019 video of Duncan playing the song live and he plays the rollers version.
@@kimr45 Have you heard the Rabbitt version. Eric did very little on it, arrange it a little different and changed one or two words but they insisted that he got credit. Duncan wasn't happy about that because it was all Duncan's song. Changing a very little bit doesn't make you the song writer. It's called arrangement of the song is actually what Eric did.
@@fireballproductions4110 Yeah I heard the Rabbitt version, musically the verses were so out there, but the chorus as we know is there. There is a lot of the original vibe of the song that Eric and Duncan kept for the Rollers version. I know what an arrangement is and the music for the verses were definitely smoothed out. Yeah, that don't really justify Eric's name being added to the song, but that's what happened. There are 3 other Duncan songs on the album to which Eric did not add his name. Eric has only 2 songs of his own on the album and credit is shared with Alan on 2 songs and the rest are written by Eric Woody and Duncan.
@@kimr45 agree with you on some. Probably what most fans don't know is that Duncan told me that Eric only changed a few words and some arranging. Also, Woody was given credit to a lot of songs that he did not really write. He was in the room when Eric and Duncan wrote most of those songs. Eric and Duncan were the main song writers of the band and Woody doesn't deserve to get credit for what he didn't do. He's not good at writing or playing an instrument but I heard he was good at the studio stuff
Nice video with wrong personnel. The Duncan Faure incarnation was named The Rollers - not the Bay City Rollers on the posted video. And he already had this song written before he joined them (as I recall). Probably from his Rabbitt days in South Africa. I still have Elevator in my vinyl collection. I saw them live in Durban, great band - from a SA fan
Nice video Janny! Question on the Elevator album. I recall the teenzines namely 16 saying the album came with a poster? Mine didn't!! I love these pics as I had some on my walls and on my school notebook!!
@@lorrainewilson7792 I do ! More Wings than pure McCartney , but it could definitely been on "Venus and Mars" or "Wings at the speed of sound" I know what they mean about the Moody Blues as well , but not to the same degree . It's all good stuff , thank the Lord 😉
Duncan is singing? Sounds like Woody to me. Yeah, it STILL sounds like Woody. That's what happens when you don't SEE them singing this song in concert. Woody has a "sweet" kind of voice, so they kind of sound alike.
This song is not by Woody. Lets correct you Duncan wrote that song when he was in his band Rabbitt. Woody isn't that good of a song writer, as a matter of fact he likes taking credit for songs he never wrote. Like it was said just because he was in the room when Duncan and Eric would write. Woody is a stingy person and steals from his friends.
Totally disagree and I will be nasty too like you. Les didn't have the talent like Duncan did and Duncan made the band rock like a real rock band. Sorry, Les is weak when it comes to music.

Duncan turned BCR into a very respectable rock band, unfortunately the damage had already been done.
