    I am so happy that I found this video. I'm suffering from spastic torticollis which is treated with botox injections every 3 months. While it does help reducing the tremors, it has grown to become a bigger problem where my head it pulled to one side at a tilt. I also suffer from severe snoring and sleep problems as well as tinnitus that seem to worsen. I will definately be looking into this!
    Thanks so much for the awareness you gave me.

    I just pretty much had a neurologist laugh me out of his office when I suggested that the dystonia in my right shoulder and neck is related to my TMJ. Apparently not connected according to him as the shoulder and jaw are different nerve groups and therefore cannot affect each other. So sad that "specialists" only see their particular part of the body and lack the ability to see how the whole body is connected. They have not themselves an explanation for my "spontaneous" dystonia...but it cannot be the jaw, no definitely not...I just think why the hell not??? Especially when I haven't been able to open it straight for like 15 years and all my problems are on the right side where just randomly of course my jaw joint is completely buggered (from what I can feel and have experienced). I've been fighting for years to get help and slowly getting worse. I only wish I'd stumbled across you guys and your treatment methods several years earlier!!! Just praying that there is no permanent or irreversible damage done to all my joints...and that I can get better.

      Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Unfortunately, we hear similar stories all the time. Since TMD and the related symptoms aren't really taught in dental or medical school there is a huge gap in knowledge. All we know is that over the years, we have been able to help many patients with their TMD problems and in turn, their painful and irritating symptoms go away. We recommend seeing a TMD specialist and have an MRI taken on your jaw joints so you can get an idea as to what is happening internally. We are always here for you and we wish you the best of luck with future treatment. If you ever need to reach out or if coming into our office for a consultation is an option, contact us at 703-821-1103 or you can email office@sleepandtmjtherapy.com

    You are a very well versed doctor. I’ve seen a few dentists - including a orofacial dentist at Tufts University Dental in Boston who pretty much dismissed my all over physical pain. Im wondering if you have any colleagues as versed as you in the New England region? Thx so much!

    Thank you so much for this very great explanation. Very informative.
    In 2017, Dr. Hallett discovered on scans the area of the brain (grey matter limbic system and motor cortex) found affected with patients with functional movement disorders such as dystonia. I believe the discs are being thrown of by the irratic messages to the muscles.

      Unfortunately, this is not a well known field. I would recommend starting with your dentist. If that does not work we are more than happy to help. Give us a call and we can explain what our protocols are for out of town patients.

      @@SleepTMJTherapyVienna - Counseling, Ear/ nose throat, chiropractic, Botox injects, 3 dentists, orthodontist, 2 neurologists, numerous medications and nothing has helped at all. I wear a mouth splint at night and my teeth suffer. No one has helped. I’m extremely tired and frustrated. The last neurologist basically said “ it was all in my head”. However, I grind my teeth subconsciously at night and clench during day even with the splint in place. I don’t think my teeth would be wearing down if it was just in my head. I also would not spend tons of money like I have without results. I seek help.

      Good Morning - I (Barb) would be happy to speak with you directly about our practice but for our patients Dr Brown looks at all components from the neck up. Our therapy focuses on re-aligning the cranium distorsions and helping the TM joints. I can further explain how our therapy could help but would need additional information. Please call us and we can discuss if our appliance therapy could help you.

    Can you tell us how to find dentists that are offering the ALF or Gelb appliances. thank you

    • @SleepTMJTherapyVienna
      @SleepTMJTherapyVienna  Před 3 lety

      Great question! Search for "TMJ Specialists near me" on google. Many dentists help treat TMJ problems so there should be results that appear when searching. From there, call their offices and see how they treat TMJ/TMD problems. Keep searching until you find someone who is familiar with conservative ALF appliance therapy and modified lower splint therapy.

      My dystonia started 20 years ago when I got braces in order to fix a crossbite. The tension in my neck seems to get better if I shift my jaw to the side where I had the crossbite. I live in Italy, what can I do?
