    I had a pair of Kestrils nest in my Box in Tennessee for 9 years. In the winter had Screech Owls nest in the box. Had 9 eggs laid by the female Kestril one year. Watched them all fledge and leave with the parents . I captured English Sparrows to prevent them harming my bluebirds and purple Martin's. Snip some feathers off their tail feathers throw them out and the male kestril would catch them in mid air to take to his young to feed. So Loved watching them use that box the 9 years we lived in Springfield Tennessee. So rewarding!

    Man, this has got to be the best video on all of CZcams. My girl and I sat and watched it together, and we both laughed and cried. What an amazing story, and even more amazing that you shared it with us. The guy in the video is every bit as much of a bad ass as the kestrel was. Lol. Thank you for such an amazing experience.

Im only flying a little Lanneret i picked up during the moult.. hes a 10yr old bird and only flew to the lure in his first season then put away for 9 seasons until i picked him up.. abit of a hand full has many bad habits but flying like a rocket machine to the lure!! Hes only flying free just under 2 weeks flown every day building fitness, soon i hope to get him entered on magpies and smaller hedge birds. if i can get him to wait on doves!! Hes very small at 450g bud has some serious speed and agility so no doubt he has potential to be a devastating hedge hunter! Watch this space man 🤠👍

      @tangostalons5807  Před rokem +3

      Hey i had to keep her out longer and longer towards the end to reduce her dependability on me . So on average we started with quick flights and recalled after aprox 5 mins built up to 1 hour or so with the recall and then reward ,, towards the end i could see she was keen on ranging further away from me hovering over long grass and along hedge lines she was scanning for her own reward/food , she did stoop down from time to time after a hover i suspect she had caught a few bugs ect as she only landed for seconds at a time, on the day of release she knew the area very well and was confident in her flying skills and stamina , it helped that the days were warmer and longer she also wasnt sure of the wildlife ranger that was standing besude me so i guess she just felt the urge to head off , i did return a few times but never seen her in that area until months later when i seen a female kestrel hovering above steep hills aprox 1/2 a mile from the release location driving by one evning in my car it was impossible to tell for sure but i had butterflies in my belly hoping it was her👍
