- My Review for Kaiweets ST120 Pen Type Multimeter & ST100 Multifunction Volt Tester. I don't do a lot of field testing, this is more of an overview covering features for these meters and my overall first impression.

I think they are a pretty good value… They may not be the most Robust… but there aren’t really a lot of small electrical tools like this that are. I use the St100 as my NCV most of the time.
I like the ST100 a lot I can see that working great for space saving in my MCT blackout, I like that it’s not so sensitive that your picking up voltage on the neutral, definitely grabbing one of these and that price you can’t beat for the functions you get.
Yeah, I like the visual/audible signs you get for voltage too. Really good price for what all you can check with it.

Thanks, I really like the Non Contact Voltage Tester. Would like it to be a little smaller but it does a lot more than a standard one.
For the price, they both do quite a bit.

to me, having the display integrated with one of the test probes is actually more restrictive than a regular meter you can set in your sightline, allowing you full freedom to manipulate the probes as necessary. If you need to measure in extremely delicate situations where a slip of the probe can have destructive consequences, you don't want to be forced to maintain the probe in a position for a proper viewing angle.
The only advantage to the pen style meter to be might be compact carry, but the flat pocket meters actually are better for that as the unshrouded fixed probe tip tends to poke through the pockets and jabs rummaging hands.
There are limited situations where the pen style would be preferable to one with a separate display, maybe working where there isn't any table or anything to place the meter on, like on a ladder measuring a wall outlet.

What works great for someone else’s situation won’t necessarily work for you and vice versa.

Pretty neat! However I dont see myself purchasing either in the near future. If I were outfitting a smaller bag the NCVT would probably be a great option, especially if you dont need a meter very often
Yeah that’s what I thought too. For someone who needs features of a meter… but only occasionally, it’s a great price for what you get.
I will put it in my MP1 on specific electrical jobs to allow me to have some meter functions instead of just NCV.

Those Kaiweets meters look like a good starter tools. Price is really encouraging, especially compared to Fluke or Benning.
Yeah. These both seem to be very responsive compared to the other one I got from them. It wasn’t bad, but these were much quicker.
It’s a lot of features for under $20. I agree, a great option for someone who is starting out, or for someone who needs the features but not on a regular basis to warrant a big expense.
I am going to leave the Pen Style on my work bench. The Non Contact Tester I actually really like. I would prefer it to be a little smaller but I’m going to leave it in my bag a little longer and keep trying it out.
Also have two younger Maintenance guys starting out at the facility I work, I may pass them on to them.
I’ve never seen a Benning… will have to look into those. I’ve pretty much used Fluke my whole career. Most people here are Fluke or Fieldpiece.

@@MORGANSMaintenance Probably that's their intention - to sell a bit above-the-average tool to pro-users who use it less often that pro-electricians. When I bought Benning Duspol Digital couple od years ago I expected to use it almost everyday so I didn't hesitate to pay $150. But at a start of my career I'd be delighted to have something similar to Kaiweets.
@@Stefan_Kawalec yeah, I have had some in the past in their price range that were pretty bad. I think for the price and what they do…they are a good option and work well.
You have to start somewhere and usually are better off not getting “the best” to start with. It helps you figure out what you like/don’t like to make the decision on what tool you really want to spend your money on… what warrants the price and what doesn’t.
At the end of the day do you trust them ?
They have been on par with every measurement that I have taken with my Fluke so far…
The NCV has been outstanding but you know that’s the thing a lot of times with tools like this. It’s a brand I’ve never used long term so no trust has been built.
On most things I check, it’s verifying what I already think it’s going to be… but am I going to throw out an expensive part without verifying with a more tested meter..not at the moment.
In those situations I may never use the KAIWEETS… or I will use it along side my Flukes and see if it builds my trust over time.
So far they haven’t lied yet, we will see after a couple drops 😂😂

Still working for me… I don’t use it every day… but I like it as a small meter
