For a battle perspective Colaps was PERFECT and FLAWLESS and inertia had a lot of timing and structure issues. King Inertia was a bit repetitive too. Of course for a show or a concert King Inertia was definitely more impressive and enjoyable for the ears but it's battle not a concert !
If youve been listening to inertia, im sure you would also notice that he was feeling apprehensive about doing technical routines against a bunch of technical beatboxers on stage. There was a lot of improv routine that he used there as well.
Colaps took a year off from his full time youtube channel to prep for GBB. He's basically Batman in the beatbox community god damn. Colaps with prep time? It's a wrap. I wanna add a couple things since you were confused by the result. What Colaps did in his routines was way more complex and difficult than what Inertia did. To make matters worse for Inertia, Colaps performed his rounds flawlessly while Inertia had a couple small mistakes and one big mistake in his first round. If Inertia executed his rounds with no mistakes this would've been a much closer battle. It also doesn't help Inertia that this was his third battle since he follows the same formula for pretty much every round. He had a little more variety than his previous two battles but he struggled with his breath control and timing at certain points which definitely cost him in the judges' eyes. I would rather listen to Inertia on my own time since Colaps' style isn't what I rock with but in terms of a battle? Colaps just overwhelmed him by matching his power and outpacing him in both speed and skill without sacrificing his musicality too much. Hopefully Inertia learns some new tricks and comes back next year to win the whole thing. Colaps got put out in the first round of the 2019 GBB by D-Low so I'm sure he felt really good about himself making it to the finals. Fun fact: when Colaps did the bite gesture with his arms during Inertia's second round it meant that he ripped that sound/beat from Colaps. Apparently Colaps met Inertia at another battle and showed him this crazy technique that he was preparing for GBB and then Inertia did it later on and didn't give Colaps credit for the idea; that's the rumour anyway.
Minute 11:50. The Colaps movement with his arms means "copy". Colaps showed this technique to intertia. In that moment, inertia loose the match. Anyway intertia is an amazing beatboxer with his own style, hope he win a GBB in the future. For now, colaps is the No 1. His technique is clean as fuck.
It was so obvious that Colaps won, there were anything Inertia did better. A lot of timing issues, pitch issues, bad structure, repetitive and bad freestyle from Inertia:(
