GREAT GATSBY Trailer (2012) Movie HD
From the uniquely imaginative mind of writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann comes the new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, The Great Gatsby. The filmmaker will create his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before, in a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role. "The Great Gatsby" follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super-rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

i read it during high school; hated it; couldn't even finish it. xD
years later i picked it up again and i loved every single word.
it's odd how perceptions can change. all of the books i hated in high school are now some of my favorites. c:
i think the problem is, they give us these books too early, when many of us are not yet ready to appreciate them.

Everyone is talking about how Daisy and Tom screwed over Gatsby. Gatsby was not screwed over by anyone. He was blinded by love and forgot that Daisy was a married women with a child. If he opened his eyes a little bit, he would have seen that Daisy still loves Tom. But the reality of it is that everyone in this story screwed over Nick Carraway. He was just a pawn they used as it pleased them. No one cared about him or his opinions. Gatsby befriended him to get closer to Daisy; Daisy was close to him because he knew Gatsby; Tom befriended him so he can have someone he can go out and party with and show his superiority. Nick was the true gentleman that put others before himself. He was the only man that worried about others even after their death. I guess it goes to show that true kindness goes unnoticed more often than not.
P.S. Great movie and acting by the way.

+Delena InMyHeart I'm not defending Daisy. However, by saying that you are implying Gatsby is the victim of the story. The fact that he slept with her makes both of them morally wrong. What I'm trying to say is that Gatsby gets the undeserved sympathy from people; when in fact, Nick Carraway is the victim of the story.

The Ugly Truth About Being Someone’s Second Choice When They Were Always Your First. Like Gatsby, I was someone's second choice while he was always my priority. He had the perfect ability of making you feel important while he acted otherwise. And It hurt like hell. You don’t seem to be enough for them no matter how much you try. You are always available and you think that’s the problem. They take you for granted because you can’t say ‘No’ to them. They always expect you to understand because you say it’s okay all the time. Sometimes you wish you were tougher. Like if one day they came running to you again and you’re suddenly no longer there for them. You wish you can turn your back. But you can’t. Because you know exactly how it feels to be rejected. You know how it feels to be set aside. You know how it feels to be left out for something MORE than you. You know how it feels to be in that situation and if anything, you don’t want anyone to experience the pain of it. I'm 6 years in this pain. I had enough. Love is action, not words. I want someone to know how to love.

everyone complaining about the music choice is proving exactly why it was used. when we today hear jazz, we think of an old fashioned smoky jazz club, which is a nice bit of nostalgia but not the "feel" the movie or book was going for. try to remember that the great gatsby was written in the 1920s, it was a reflection of modern times, not a look back in the past, which makes it NOT a period piece. Fitzgerald wasn't trying to evoke a "this is the 1920s" feeling, he was evoking a "this is the crazy, modern, fast paced, party obsessed world today's rich are living in" feeling. when people of the 1920s heard jazz, it was provocative and risqué. it inspired young people to dance and go a little crazy. it pissed off the older people, the majority of whom thought it was annoying and nonsensical and vapid, which is exactly the reactions people have to today's pop and hip hop. the creators of the movie wanted to capture THAT feeling, the one that played a much larger role in the story than jazz's "the 1920s really sounded like this!" would have

Well they mixed “can’t stop,” which is a horrible song in any era, with an off beat jazz trumpet in the wrong key so I can see why people hate it. Plus, the the hip hop evokes a sense of digital age modernism and not 1920s modernism, so I think it failed there too

I saw this movie with my Mum when it came out in theatres, who was skeptical about the use of modern music and the casting choice of Leonardo DiCaprio (my absolute favourite actor). By the end, she was in tears, in love with the film. We ended up seeing it again another two times.

This person probably read the book and loved it(like just about everyone else, apparently not kids because they don't know great writing when they see it yet) Movies are hardly never better than the books. This one certainly wasn't. It was awesome. But the book was way better. I'm sorry that you (a high schooler most likely) need predictable action packed 21 century books that, honestly, compared to f. Scott Fitzgeralds writing skills, is horrible. No disrespect towards the newer books. Doesn't mean I would never give them a try, but the great Gatsby and many other older books have something that the newer books don't have; character. Even though many of the kids think they have character, they seriously lack in that category. No disrespect to you either!

Jane Doe Now that I think about it your right, F. Scott Fitzgerald was a genius to come up with such a compelling plot and I do appreciate the meaningful literature. It's just that the book lacks the glitz and the glam of what people expect in the 21st century but the movie incorporates that factor.

I just watched this film for the first time earlier today. Wow, this film was incredible. Both DiCaprio's and Maguire's roles were unforgettable. The ending was a shock to the system though.

Beautiful representation of human reality. We laugh and enjoy the company of people or a friend when everything's OK. But when his/her life is socially challenged or questioned because of a single-malicious-rumour; we forget everything about him/her, to the point that attending his/her funeral becomes a curse to us.

I really could feel how intense Daisy's love for Gatsby was. The actress did her character much justice. It's a shame though, that Daisy Buchanan couldn't overcome her self loathing relationship, and her materialistic view on the world.

I hated reading books in English class but "The Great Gatsby" was by far one of the few books that I both enjoyed and loved. The movie was pretty good as well, it gave the story a bit of oddity just like how I imagined the book. An odd amazing story that has an odd amazing movie.

The best movie I ever seen....and Leo is always Dominar in his acting skills.....the saddest part of the film was the Funeral of Jay Gatsby...that no one comes to his funeral not a single who attended his party....and the Daisy also doesn't come hurts me more.......💔

    SPOILER ALERT:
I'm surprised they didn't put in Gatsby's funeral. It was a major part, since no-one turned up for his funeral except from Nick, the servants, Gatsby's Dad and Owl Eyes. It really does illustrate the destruction of the american dream, how nobody even cared for him apart from those who attended and the materialistic upper class society in the 1920's.
To be honest, i didn't find the movie that good- it wasn't good, nor was it bad. It was one of those o.k movies. :l
The best bit about it was Leo's acting.

If I remember the book correctly near the end Gatsby's father I believe it was gave Nick a possession of Gatsby, I think it was a notebook or something in where one could see how Gatsby at an early age strives to be a better man, it was a great revelation to me in the book and I don't think it made it to the film which was a big downer for me. But I'm not too sure, I don't remember this movie very well.

    • @XxFanpire4evaxX
      @XxFanpire4evaxX Před 10 lety +4

Lpedraja2002 Are you talking about the bit which has Gatsby's routine down? I'm not sure if he gave it to Nick, I think he was trying to portray his sons 'admirable' qualities.
