    💯VIDEO DETAILS💯
We completed this hike in just under seven hours, but it could take you longer depending on your experience, amount of breaks taken, and time at the peak! Changes in elevation recorded by our @ALLTRAILS app put it at just over 4,800 feet in elevation gain and in total the hike distance was about 14.5 Miles Round Trip. The pay off is definitely completing the hike due to the distance and elevation gain not being a simple walk in the park, lol! Check out the video for more info and trail tips!

Accidentally got to the top via nike running shoes when it was fully dumped with snow last year. One of the more intense moments fs haha. Epic views.

Haha legend! Did you have on yak tracks or something OR traction wasn’t a problem? I mean in summer the incline was steep at points? Bravo to getting up in running shoes! lol. That had to be tricky!!

Congrats man! Should be a lot of fun. It’s a challenging hike as far as the incline goes. Definitely bring a good amount of water and some fun snacks to enjoy at the top!! (Although there is a snack stand up there lol.) cheers!!

@@DontWonderExplore it was a hardcore hike and i made it to the "last water" checkpoint and i was almost out of water so i made the decision to turn back, it was a 9 hour adventure. Take care and I'll subscribe. 🤙🏻

Agreed, if one hikes regularly probably!! The day we did it boy it was hot…that didn’t help.

Exposing too much skin leads to evaporation if I believe correctly.

My wife and I did this hike last Saturday, she is most likely going to loose 2 toenails, for some this will test everything you think you have, I faired just fine but am still sore. We're in our 50's and hike all over the place, we're happy we did it but holy sh*t, that is all just holy sh*t.

Nice video. I've hiked up during the summer. I just power hike 5.5 miles up to the bench in 2 hrs, and then take a nice rest. No desire to go up an extra mile to top. Just ugly parking lot, tower eyesores and restaurant that's always closed. To save some time and go lighter leave water bottles as you go up, or ultra light bring a water purifier. There's a steady creek just before orchard camp. If you are a down hill "speed jogger" wear boots, because there's lots of embedded rock "ankle grabbers" on the ground. Leave light trail runners at home, and if you should break your ankle "pressing in-reach" is useless and helicopters can't land in narrow canyon. GPS and cells don't work in many spots. Luckily, many hikers. Keep on.

Completely agree, and I’d say we may do that so differently in the future! It was a great workout, but I personally prefer more remote mountains with actual peaks!!! Lol … thx for your thoughts!! Any favorite mountains in SoCal for you?

@@DontWonderExplore I'm more of a workout hiker and ex-marathoner. My goal is to make a 5-6 hr hike(12-15 mi) feel like a 30 mile all day hike.
I don't like to drive too far to get to my trail head.
Living in LA there are some amazing challenging trails in deep in Griffith Park. Not the main trails you can "drive on", but the skinny white lines you see on google maps. You might see more coyotes and deers than other hikers. My goal is to make a 5-6hr hike(12-15 mi) feel like a 30 mile all day hike.
Either, I will have 45 lbs on my back or carry 5-10 lbs in my hands for hours. Not only added resistance but your body temp rises 10-15 degrees instantly.
      Happy 2022 and keep on.

I used to hike to Orchard Camp on the Mt Wilson Trail in the afternoon when I got off work in Monrovia. I carried an old Garmin eTrex 20 to record my tracks and when I would get to Orchard Camp my GPS would get real squirrely right about there, deep in the canyon where you can't get a clear view to the sky. On the weekend I would go all the way to the top. There's a hairpin turn up there, past Orchard Camp, but it also had big boulders right at the curve that you had to climb over. I'm not sure if they've done trail maintenance to clear that out, but I hope so, I want to hike it again but it's been about 10 years since I last did it.
