    I have been here 3 times and going again in October as we do every time and never had a load of flies around us. I agree it does need updating but it's not as bad as you have made it sound.

      I can only tell people what I experienced with my view. I have been to Cape Verde on previous occasions and I've enjoyed each one of them.

    I went here in November 2023, and I am going again in 3 weeks (April 2024). This hotel was great! So relaxing, food brilliant with plenty of choice. Stayed in a double sea view room in one of the main blocks and was close to main pool and all restaurants. Room was bigger than most hotels, and spotless. Not one mosquito bite, and hardly any flies. Staff were brilliant in all departments. The only thing was the main pool needed slight attention but was fine. Sunbeds on beach, and there is no beach bar, but you are only a two minute walk back to main pool bar so I do not see the problem. This man must be very hard to please, maybe hes used to the Savoy or something. As a hotel it is better than most I have stayed in Spain for example. Honest opinion, 4 stars. For a relaxing holiday in a great hotel the Riu Touareg hits the spot!

      I appreciate your comment but my video was based on the rating of a 5 star which it was advertised as & as you said its a 4 star at the most. Glad you enjoyed your holiday but I've been to much more better hotels in Cape Verde. I'll be returning to Sal on the 21st April for a 2 week stay and it will be my 7th time there. If its your first visit to the island you be happy with it but as I've been there a few times it's not my favourite and I can probably say I'm qualified to say what I did as I've experienced six previous visits.

    Just back from Riu Palace Santa Maria on Sal, Cape Verde which opened in Feb 2021 so almost 1.5 yrs old now. It was fantastic and every room had a proper mini bar with optics and branded drinks! Food was amazing with fresh seafood including caviar and lobster. The restaurants you have to book were great and for me, the best was the Japanese restaurant. The only thing negative was not enough toilets and no beach bar and restaurant hence beach was always empty as its a long windy trek back to main complex. Pools were excellent and all bars served proper branded drinks. Highly recommend but 1 week is enough for this island.

      Sounds good, I've been to Sal 3 times to Melias Dunas and Rui Touareg is far well behind in all aspects of a holiday complex.

      @@SteveMcKelvey I did shortlist toureg but fancied Sal island more and fancied the newest Riu 5 star resort. Bulgaria is another place where the Riu Helios and Riu Palace (adults only but both next to each other) are fantastic 5 star hotels well worth the trip!!

      @@emmahulme289 Many thanks for your message, I am getting mixed comments on people's experience at Rui Torague and that's all people can do. I did the review on my experience at the resort as you seen. Everyone will experience different views on things but I have been to many five star hotels and in my view it was below the 5 star hotels I've stayed in abroad especially Cape Verde.

    It’s 5 star compared to the rest of the island but for £567 for a week all inclusive I don’t think that’s bad either way .
    You are not getting all inc somewhere that hot for £300 five star

    • @SteveMcKelvey
      @SteveMcKelvey  Před 2 lety

      I understand your comments but when potential customers are looking for a 5-star holiday I found it a bit misleading. 5 star is 5 star but I found out that this is no more than a 4 star. You wouldn't get a 5-star hotel for under £600 but if people are on a budget it's good value for money. I've been to Rui hotels before and they are very good but this one is not anywhere near any of the Rui hotels ive experienced. As stated in my VLOG I've based it on my personal experience. Cheers for the comment it helps others to make their own decisions.

    Just got back..bit to death by mosquito bites. Mine got infected and now unwell. Buffet food repetitive and luke warm. Not going back again. TUI spoilt with rubbish flights. Agree with lighting comments..take a torch. Can't swim in the sea .

      Oh dear, I have to say I've been to Cape Verde 4 times and this Rui hotel was far from 5 star as advertised. Up to present on the TUi website its classed as a PLATINUM hotel which i struggle to take in. It is NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL or PLATINUM rating. Just booked the Melia Llana on Sal for mid October where I will be reviewing it same as this one. But I can assure it will be alot better. Keep your eyes posted for the video & cheers for watching.

    Your “issues” make me laugh. The balcony is not good enough? There’s flies? The food is not good enough? “I have to walk to the beach and carry my drinks” Lol😅you do realise you’re in Africa right? If you want a Western Europe 5* experience how about you give us a review of the Dorchester? That would be nice. The place is awesome. People should go and see it with their own eyes. Don’t fall for this silly review, it’s entitled as hell and a really unfair portrayal of the hotel.

    • @SteveMcKelvey
      @SteveMcKelvey  Před rokem

      Depends what you think is 5 stars. I've been to Cape Verde 5 times and this was nowhere near the standards of the other hotels I've been to. But it's only my opinion and also for people who maybe thinking of going there. Defo misleading saying it was 5 🌟.

      I'm far from a negative guy I am giving my opinion based on the experience that I had at Rui Touareg which was confirmed by people returning after the pandemic who have been before. I can only base things on the experiences that I have as I have been to Cape Verde before on three other occasions and this one was not on the level as it the others by far. Maybe you should ignore my view and pay the money and see for yourself.

      The video was made from my experience at the hotel. Some people may think its good value and are happy with what they paid. I thought it was ok, BUT if I wanted a 3 or 4 star hotel then I would have booked one - just saying.
