Lagos, Nigeria Worlds largest slum,Makoko is home to the world's biggest village. The population of over 220,000, Makoko is a unique community that has been built on water. The people of Makoko use the sea water as sewage Makoko is the world's largest water village.
Makoko is a community that faces many challenges. The people of Makoko live in poverty, and they lack access to basic amenities such as clean water, sanitation, and healthcare. The community is also at risk of flooding, and the houses are built on stilts to protect them from rising water levels. Despite these challenges, Makoko is a vibrant community that has a lot to offer.
One of the opportunities that exist in Makoko is tourism. Makoko is often referred to as the Venice of Africa, and it has become a popular destination for tourists who want to experience the unique culture and way of life in the community. That kid is strong as heck. Just the fact he rowed/pushed them for that long, pushing all that extra weight, and going that speed. Unbelievable honestly.

@@melvingreene7936 Nitwit. Reading comprehension is not your forte. Your statement that youtubers don't highlight these conditions is patently false.. Many popular youtube vloggers like Sabbitical and including Nigeria's own, Tayo Aina and Steve Ndokwu have done extensive vlogs on Makoko. Ignorance is a bliss: cursory internet search will reveal that Makoko is one the most exposed communities in Africa. Practically Every global media organization has covered it. Learn a little about an issue before you make unstantiated facts.
My work makes me travel around Africa and other developing countries. I have the good and the bad. I am very aware of these communities, and I am happy that Czech is drawing attention. At the end Czech was seated and another guy took the camera. The last few seconds were the most powerful of the 1 hour video. He noticed the sun. Czech only saw the sewage. The Nigerian government should be ashamed of itself fir making their own people live in such deplorable conditions. 😢😢😮
Thus is way beyond sad😢
You won't understand. These place and the people have been living there even before Nigeria's independence and before the colonial masters formed a govt here. They come from neighboring countries like Beni and Togo since they are mostly related to Yoruba ethnic groups before the Europeans came to create borders The Lagos state govt have tried so many times to relocate them and develop that land. They have refused claiming they rely on the water for livelihood and the govt would give it to the rich. That's the situation at hand
@@naijagatekeeper101it isn't completely true that the government has tried. What the government has done is try to move them to where they would have to pay for accommodation but here thry pay next yo nothing. What the government should do is upgrade the area, clean it and rebuild the structures.
I wouldn’t blame the govt for this tho.
Govt has made several attempts to relocate the people and demolish the place but activists just won’t have it. The people aren’t living there cos they can’t afford better, at least for the most part.
North America and Europe should be ashamed for ravishing that country of its people and resources. Americans and Europeans apologized but never replenished and repaired the damage they caused. What we see is the result of colonization. The country has done phenomenal considering their journey. Lesser countries crumbled. 🇳🇪

Its hard to watch people living in this awful conditions
Great one, bro. I'd appreciate you going to the high-end areas as well as Lagos . Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Banana Island, etc...
For what? Just to make you feel good, eh? FYI, those so-called "high end areas" don't really look good in videos due to the mediocre standard of the access roads, pavements, etc. Yes, the houses may look magnificent, but the high walls, security barbed wire, and (as mentioned earlier) the mediocre standard of the roads and pavements make those places look "somehow." Of course, for people living in Nigeria or someone visiting Nigeria who has spent time visiting other substandard areas in Nigeria, those so called high end areas will look like a different class above the rest. Please watch other videos here showing dangerous/rough areas in countries like Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica etc and observe how the roads, pavements and public amenities in those dangerous areas are far far better than those in the high end areas that you mentioned.
@Deep Probe I concur with you on that as I live overseas. The issue is that the Nigerian government hasn't delivered on its own share of the bargain envers its citizens. Poor infrastructural planning and development is one factor that requires tackling.
@archibongeyo it's because there is no one to hold them to account. Nigerian presidents act as if they are beyond reproach. They are surrounded by sycophants who are only interested in making money. This same pattern is replicated by ministers, governors, and LG chairmen.
Keep up the Excellent work and content salute to you !

This is untrue. As a matter of fact, these days most of the videos show the better parts of Africa than the worst parts because there’s a need to correct the narrative. Czech’s videos have tended to show more of the positive side of countries he visits. He has videos of the nice parts of Lagos therefore what you are saying is not correct.
To Czech you has captured the inner beauty of the hidden treasures of this place name Makoka in Nigeria. you have visited. The beautiful people there are full of life and vibrancy. The food, the schools and the churches there are similar to the U.S. except that they have a lot less of the rich resources there. The gentleman there in the video was very warmed were opened to showing you how the people live on the water. The water is their life source. I was touched how the people there are so beautiful and they are sharing with you the fish. I love the scenery of the gentleman who were playing pool, and the little children were also playing pool. Most of all l love how the young boy showing of his artwork of the people he painted. He is as good as l am as an artist. It would be nice to help him go to college to study art. And to have his work in museum as well to sell his work. I have visted Kenya in Africa and like the people in Kenya, the people in Makoka are very nice and show warm hospitality. God bless the people there. They are blessed with a richness of life there. The people may not have a lot of money and possessions of materialistic things like here U.S. but what they do have is a zest of life, a sense of community. Also the love of family and unity within their community. Most the all kid in the video who says he wants to become a doctor when he grows up. That was touching to me because he has dreams. That goes to show that people there in Makoka do have dreams dispite of their life circumstances. Makoka is kind of like Italy. The people live on the water is their life's line of survival. Thank you so much for posting your video for us to see. I love your videos and some of the places you visited l also visted and like you l like to see and be among the locales, you learn so much more.
