    What an incredible voice! A true tenor with the kind of natural power & passion that true tenors in rock/pop often lack. Good guitar player too! And, most of all, a beautiful song with a timeless message! 👍👍🙏

    I loved this back in the day and just found it again. Taken as a whole - what a huge performance. Was it Mick Karn on bass if I remembered right? Highlights for me: Mark Brzezecki and Phil Collins so in unison and then playing off eachother so amazingly; Midge’s voice; and that BLISTERING guitar solo. Magic stuff. God I’m old.

    Sad only 6.5k views. a) this should have been the Live Aid anthem b) Mick Karn is a genius. As MIdge once said "one of the good guys"

    Written by Elton John , too .

    As an atheist by heart , I deeply thank Midge for this brilliant song, meaning that no god exists as humanity waits his actions and nothing happens, besides the man , luck and nature s action.

    • @derekbaker3279
      @derekbaker3279 Před 3 lety +2

      FYI, Midge Ure has never been an Atheist. This song was meant as a prayer & expression of his despair over the starvation, oppression, racism/apartheid, war etc around the world that became regular news to everyone in developed nations during eh 1980s.
      As for the fact that humanity sits on its arse, waits for God to solve things for them, and despairs when nothing happens...for those who believe in a higher power, including Christians like Midge Ure & Phil Collins, they forget that: (a) according to their beliefs, when humanity was created, it was given the empathy, free will, and ability to mitigate and/or eliminate suffering when it was created, and (b) it's up to all of those with the required resources to have the passion, commitment & willingness to make the sacrifices that will be needed to end the injustices & suffering. Whether one is an Atheist or a 'Believer', the answer remains that humanity is responsible for the problems in the first place & the failure to solve them rests on humanity's shoulders alone.

      This song has nothing to do with atheism though, mate, and besides, your idea about religion is extremely narrow, you basically don't understand its basics.
