  • Another day from my recent trip over at Legends Poker Room in Texas. I took a couple of especially weird bad beats (story at the end of the video).
    Thanks for watching!
    I'm a live Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) poker player who has been inspired by many live poker vloggers such as Andrew Neeme, Brad Owen and Rampage, and now want to bring the great game of Omaha poker to CZcams.
    I typically play $5/$5 Pot Limit Omaha poker at Lake Elsinore Casino in California but will soon be traveling to play poker at other poker casino rooms in the US.

    A bad dealer always makes a rough night rougher. I had a dealer give me AA once one of the A was exposed so he took it back the next card he gives me was another A ! I was pretty excited until he announced misdeal. He continued giving out cards after mine thinking it was omaha. I was steaming

    The AQ85 ss is a muck from most positions if aggressive preflop. Reasonable call from late position (CO/Button) but you never flop big unless you've crippled the board or caught someone with underfull or second flush. The poorer players have to get lucky sometimes to keep them coming back :) Variance can be aggravating, just hang in there.

    • @DonkFishPoker
      @DonkFishPoker  Před 2 lety

      Yeah too disconnected to play in early position but I agree that in later position it can be playable. If there wasn’t a river there wouldn’t be any fish lol. Thanks for the encouragement.

    I like your decision to fold the AQ85 with a nut flush draw. This seems like the kind of hand that can call in late position, especially with several limpers. This hand might have a very tiny equity share above average, but it will not be unusual to be deprived of that equity on later streets since calling pot sized bets with 7 outs to the nuts will not usually be profitable. You will simply need more outs and this hand probably won't produce them.
    It is good that you did not blame the dealer for your mucked hand, Dealers are very busy and when they see cards that look folded, they can accidentally muck them. As I am sure you know, protecting your hand is you responsibility. Back when I dealt, I did this once. I felt bad, but not much to be done.

    • @DonkFishPoker
      @DonkFishPoker  Před 2 lety

      Great analysis on the AQ85 and I completely agree. If it were a bit more connected such as AQ98SS I think calling from EP is fine.
      I was a bit upset in the moment as it was the first playable hand I had in hours but I should have protected it better. Maybe he saved me money by mucking it 😂

      @@DonkFishPoker yeah it is. I did the same except in NLH. My last two sessions busted my bankroll so now I’m gonna have to wait a bit and save up another 500 and get back to it. I’ve never ran so bad. It didn’t matter what I was doing I kept getting drawn out on. Went all in with pocket 6’s and the guy next to me had pocket 4’s I showed him I had him beat and he still called me and hit a 4 on the river. My last couple sessions have been like that. Opponents playing really bad against me and getting paid. Frustrating as hell.

    1:02 thought process on betting here while drawing to only runner runner on one board and a good draw on the other but still only one pair? In these texas bomb pots it very easily could be multiple people all in by the time it gets back to you. I would play this as a check call. Then if I hit the heart I can put max pressure on everyone by potting it and try to get folds from draws or bad two pairs on the other board.

    • @DonkFishPoker

    Yeah I was going to state the obvious, you should use a card protector, even a chip on your cards. This happened to me when someone flung their cards across the table and I was in the 1 seat and of them ended up on top of my hand. My was dead - I had pocket queens. I wouldn't have won because there was an ace on the flop but lesson learned. Now I get blamed for hiding or covering my cards -

    Try to always have a chip on your cards if you can remember. What happened in that hand? Were you able to take your call/raise back?
    On the last hand I think its push or fold pre. You're calling 240 with 250 behind with a hand that's not like 4567 where there might be a flop you can fold and also isn't a hand that plays better multi-way compared to heads up. Better to raise all in imo and have a chance to isolate the aces because the other player might fold not wanting to put in that much or knowing the original raiser might shove while also not giving him the ability to fold if he flops garbage. Folding AQJ6ss when you think the other person has aces also isn't the worst move if you want to pick a better spot.
    Do you think you really would have 3-bet to 55 and called 250 pre with AQJT single suited with it not being the ace suited?

    • @DonkFishPoker

    Can someone tell me what SPR is? 😂

      Stack to pot ratio.
      Basically how much money you have left compared to how much money is already in the pot.

    • @DonkFishPoker
      @DonkFishPoker  Před 2 lety +2

      It stands for stack to pot ratio so general rule of thumb is the lower spr the less equity you need to go all in. Usually in plo if you get the pot down to near or less than 1 you usually just have to go with the hand.

    running bad huh? are you serious? apart from the other player mucking your hand (which is your fault for not protecting your hand) , the rest is not considered running bad, this is normal. I've been playing 4 20 yrs now and I've been watching your videos lately. believe me man you'r running pretty good!!
    I've seen you "tikin it down" with trash holdings. I even remember one of your hands where on the river the flush got there, I think the straight got there as well and an ace was on the board YET YOU STILL "TIK IT DOWN" WITH KINGS AGAINST TWO OPPONENTS!
    even in this very session u complain about, u still managed to hit a couple of gutters! check it again.
    long story short, you run very good but you are not aware of it cuz you always have it. like a fish who doesn't know about water cuz he is living IN IT!
    hope you acknowledge your luck and stop being ungrateful. cheers 🙂

      I appreciate the feedback Hamed and you’re definitely right, I have been running well for the most part. I have improved my tilt controls but I definitely let my emotions get the best of me in this session but we live and we learn.
      I should definitely be grateful and will try being more positive moving forward. Thanks again Hamed, cheers 🍻

    Why do people call people they are playing “villains” I think it’s the dumbest thing in the world. It’s like calling the players position “middle position” learn the terms and stop w the villain sht it’s so damn lame!

    • @DonkFishPoker
      @DonkFishPoker  Před 2 lety +1

      I use the term because that’s how people refer to them so I felt I was best to use to refer to the person I’m playing a particular hand against but I do typically use the players position when describing my opponent to others in conversation
