- I visit several points of interest along Route 66 in Arizona, the Mother Road. First we learn about the Sinagua people cliff dwellings in Walnut Canyon National Monument. Then we pass by Twin Arrows, the Two Guns ghost town, the Meteor Crater, we spend some time standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona, we almost visit the Petrified Forest... then finally enter New Mexico and cruise along the town of Gallup. As night falls we arrive in Albuquerque.
We tow a 2015 Winnebago Micro Minnie 1706FB travel trailer. You are more than welcome to tag along in our travels by subscribing to this channel.

Traveling Robert robert, was your wife traveling with you
Hi TR, really enjoyed this video. We're going to do Route 66 later in 2020 and I've been searching for any other videos you made on the Route 66 theme. Without success. Can you supply any titles or search terms to help us? Many thanks for your help.
Did that 6 days ago Robert, on to the next video to scratch our itch!
Curious why you seem to never stop at he LOCAL mom and pop owned restaurants along the way serving REAL locals' food? And no a "Najavo" breakfast of eggs, meat and hash browns for $9.00 at a brand new Indian casino doesnt count. @ 26:40 in Gallup you just passed right by Jerry's Cafe which has been there over 60 years serving some of the absolute best NM food in the state like green and red chile enchiladas, chile rellenos and sopapiilos. you are missing out by not going to these sorts of places and instead all the latest and not so greatest "IPA brew pub" chains springing up like stinking Starbucks. #BORING
Picture quality is excellent.. It occurs to me your videos are enjoyable because you are humble and aren’t towing a 10,000lb $80,000 5th wheel with a $80,000 diesel pickup. Maybe you would want to but keep it simple. You really show all the fun you could have with a modest setup. Perhaps discussing cost might be useful for many...
Oh and had a chuckle when you went down old Route 66... Real off roading eh?
It was scary for a few minutes there, but I'm glad I pulled it off. You most likely never see me in a 5th wheel, especially since I've gotten used to living small. I might splurge in a wide body campervan in the future though,.
I think viewers like how the journey is presented like storytelling.
What I have learned in watching Robert's videos is that it is the journey and what you do and what you see that is the important part. The RV is a comfortable place to recharge (and edit videos :-) ) and stay at unique places, but not the focal point of the adventure. Of course Robert is traveling with his RV and not full-timing. Some of the other interesting channels show these more elaborate rigs as you state, but the RV is their home too.
You're DOing Great with the new toy... LOVE the sharing- Thanks so much for Your Participation in the FLOW-
Hi Robert, My wife and I traveled this section just about a year ago. Very beautiful country. We sent some time in Albuquerque back in 2015. And I lived there for a short time back in late 1959 early 1960, the city has really grown! We enjoy your videos very much, keep up the good work!! Happy Travels!! BobnRobin
Thank you.
Very beautiful nature! Who would have thought that desert could be so different!
It is amazing
Beautiful mountains and lakes. Great job. As always, have fun and stay safe.
Oh I can't wait to see all of this ❤️
Thank you
Love everything about your video, Arizona and New Mexico are wonderful and enchanting places for sure . Was humming the Eagles tune in Winslow, very cool! along with all the other adventures. 👍🍭
Always fun! Bucket list for us one day!
Robert, it never ceases to amaze me how watching your videos is more like watching a program on television instead of a CZcams video! The new camera seems to be doing a fine job, but, knowing YOU it's not 'good' enough! Do you ever worry about the camera falling off of the RV filming forward motion of your travels? HAS it ever fallen off? Goes without saying that this is definitely one more of your many great videos! Travel safe, my friend, be happy, Hasta la próxima, and, God Bless!
(7:15amCST May 6, 2018 Sunday Houston, Tx)
Thank you. Yes, the new camera didn't make the cut and I returned it as soon as I got back. When you have the right tool your work is so much easier, and this camera was definitely not the right tool. It takes twice as long to edit when you have to color correct every single scene. About the camera on the roof, at the beginning I was really worried, but in almost four years it has never fallen off.
Stay thirsty my friend.
Robert you're the BEST!!! "If this walls could talk."(exactly what I was thinking) Cracked me up!!! Thank you for posting such great videos. Truely what I needed to get grounded again. Thank you x a million!
Thanks very much Robert.
You're welcome
We're heading to Flagstaff the first week of October. Thanks for all the pointers on places to go especially Walnut Canyon. I love the old Indian sites. Been to Bandelier near Santa Fe and Gila in New Mexico. Looking forward to Walnut Canyon. Thanks.
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing. This is such a great country. Love your Richardo Montaban accent too. Thanks.
Great video, Robert. Thanks for sharing.
I like that you put the places you are going in the beginning!
Thank you Robert you and the Motor Home Experiment are top notch you tubers. Your videos are awesome.
Gracias Robert!
Another great travel report - viewed from Switzerland - Thanks Robert!
Thank you!
Love the video Robert 👍🏼 passed thru there many times as my son’s were in the Army and we drove from California to Georgia, Oklahoma and Ohio.
Loved this video thanks Robert for showing us all the lovely areas of Route 66 ; Arizona and New Mexico 👍🏻
Thank you!
Fascinating Robert, thank you for sharing!!!
You're welcome
Thank You Robert You are a dear man.
Very interesting. Good job!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love your videos thank you 🙏🏽😊👍🏿🤪
Wonderful video, Robert, as always. I only recently discovered your channel, and I am hooked! I spend hours watching your travels. I really feel like I'm seeing the places you visit almost like I'm there. Thank you😘
Thanks for your wonderful videos. Always makes me want to hit the road.
You're welcome
Loved it...Thanks Robert....can,t wait for the next part...
Thank you!
The colors you captured were breathtaking!!! The mountains lit up against the dark sky were a striking treat for the eyes. It just kept getting better throughout the video. I can't get over how beautiful the colors were. If I saw it in real life I think it would make me cry. Beauty gets me emotional.
Thank you Patty. I love that part of the country mainly because of that.
Great job Robert! The replacement camera works. Beautiful shots and I'm jealous route 66 is on my bucket list
O loved this video. As always you giving us these jewels.
:-) thank you!
I really enjoy your vids
I recently discovered Traveling Robert and his fabulous videos and music. Like him putting a sticker on each state
he visits, I am going to post this comment on all the videos I watch! You da man, Robert!!
Formerly, I lived and worked in Grand Canyon National Park so I've visited the same places. But you provided some historical background I didn't have on the abandoned tourist traps.
Thanks Robert many of Us former Arizonans did not even know Walnut Canyon existed. We were to enclaved in our Barrios & Ranchitos to even look over the Horizon. Great Vdieos & Music.
That is some driving skills you have there, I wish you would've video taped the trailer so I don't freak out the next time I'm on a one lane road. Needless to say I needed help U-turning my trailer...lol, thank goodness for kind people.
A very nice video.
👍🍹that was a very interesting video thank you
Glad you liked it. It was an adventure for sure
I always follow your videos on Google Maps for reference. One thing to point out... if you had kept going on Old US Route 66, you would have reached the Meteor Crater RV Park regardless. At least, it appears so on Google Maps. In any case, thank you Mr. Robert. :)
The picture quality is excellent still.... your videos have become my Oasis away from the worries of every day Life and I thank you sir.
Thank you!
Robert Thanks for all your knowledge we also jot a Travel Trailer you are awesome hopefully we see you one day I always go to Miami from Tampa every few months keep up the great work keep moving forward sigue para adelante amigo
Thank you. See you on the road one of these days
Great Rt 66 video Robert Thanks
Thank you!
I remember when twin arrows where open I was a kid .. we would stop sometimes
This was a great video. I am going to follow this path going west to RTR. This info is really helpful. I definitely will not be going down that old Rte 66 dirt road in my Mini.
I have plans to go to RTR as well next year so might see you on the road or at the Scaddan Wash in Quartzsite.
Joan Hazelgrove Joan do you car dwell in your mini cooper or pull a small trailer? I wish they would have RTR this summer maybe?
Really fun video. Glad you got out of the trap. I would have asked if I could fly the drown. You never know. Thanks Robert!!
Glad you liked it
I'm a newbie here. Have been catching up on everything you've put up. After reading many comments here, I feel the same about why watching your videos is so pleasant and relaxing. You really put a lot of great work on them.
Thank you!
I'm really enjoying this and the former jaunt. A couple years ago my husband and I flew into Phoenix and road tripped all over Arizona for 10 days. Started out in Sedona, then stayed in Flagstaff as our "base camp". Did everything you depict here, and more. You really should hit northern Arizona and check out Page and Lake Powell. Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend is beautiful. The Meteor Crater Tour was awesome, they take you all the way out to the rock outcroppings and take a picture of you near the edge.
Great video bud thank you..has anyone ever told you that you sound like a evil villain? Lol 😆 love it...bwahaha
Thank you
You're welcome
Wonderful footage.
Thank you!
Thank you for inspiring me to finish my Route 66 trip. I loved the Burma Shave signs heading into Seligman from Williams. Also thank you for showing me First Friday. I live in the Valley but that is the closest I am going to get to that circus👍🏼
Maybe next year I'll do it from Chicago to LA
So much fun visiting America thru your videos Robert! We can’t go yet (my wife and I care for her ailing 90 year old mother) but I’m planning my journeys in your footsteps! All we need after we have “time” is a RV! 🤣 But you are giving us tons of info to help make choices when that time comes! Keep up the good work!
Thank you. Hope you can make it some day
Hello Traveling Robert😊😊🎸🎸🎵🎵, I just reviewed the Sedona footage. So SPECTACULAR!
wow the new camera is awesome. thanks Robert
Glad you like it
I miss being out West. We were hoping to go this Summer.
Video quality was very good as was the content. Content is always more important than camera specs and I never would have known you were using your backup camera. Onward Minitini, hooray!
Glad you liked it
The new camera work really well!
I enjoy your videos. We've been to the Southwest a couple of times before, and going back this year. It's beautiful there, so much still looks like the old west. Winslow was fun...of course I just had to stand on the corner...lol.
I like the southwest too. So much open land out there.
Camera is good. I enjoy your videos...the music, historical and cultural commentary. I am heading to Land Between the Lakes and I found your channel when I was researching it. I think it’s funny how you search out the local bars to find a local IPA! 😉
Oh the Land Between the Lakes, beautiful area
Albuquerque at night is not my favorite either. Great video!
love your background music
Thank you!
I hate your riding in my rv song. I always skip when it comes on. You are driving your vehicle and pulling your rv. You are travelling with an rv. Rewrite it dude!
Thank you...
You're welcome
Nice work on the tight turn! Also a smart decision to stay on Northern Arizona, we have been reaching temps over 100 degrees lately down in Phoenix :( We can't wait to get out of here!
Luckily this was back in February... It is getting pretty warm in Miami where I am right now. Looking forward to returning next winter.
Always remember don't drive in any place you can't back out of , or turn around , be safe ( Doug in GA )
Great video! Love the song references...including "Point me in the direction of Albequerque". ;) Thanks for the awesome videos. I have a Canon Vixia. It's not bad but I haven't got to anything as scenic as you have (yet).
Eventually I returned it and replaced it with a Sony. Better quality and stabilization... but it wasn't too bad. It did the job when needed
Like the commentary & music.
Thanks!
Walnut canyon...We wondered how" the people" got into the dwelling on the north side ? Holbrook AZ is wonderful. Mailed ourselves a letter from Holbrook and it traveled by Pony Express (horse back) to Scottsdale AZ. Then by USPS to our home base in Indiana. Its framed and hanging on the wall. Hashknife Pony Express 58th year
That's cool
The 60 frames is helpful! Picture looks pretty clean, too. Got spoiled with 4k. You definitely get your exercise on these side trips!
I did a fair amount of color correction and levels on this one. I think it was worth it. We'll be back to 4k soon, only 4 more videos of this trip
Well it looks very nice. I certainly enjoy your travel adventures, keep up the good work and keep exploring!
Love the Eagles reference
Your video looks great. I am wondering if I could make it down and back up all those stairs on the Island Trail.
60 fps very good, much smoother, very nice colors, very sharp focus. 4k 27 "iMac much nicer picture.
Remember that area from my trip.
Thanks Robert from México, you have to do a video in Baja California México , you will be very welcome in my Country.
Thank you. I will
If you go by the Flying C ranch, exit 234, about an hour east of Albuquerque on i-40, stop in and say hi. Easy on and off.
Next year for sure
My dad and mother and I went Route 66 in 1956 and 1959 my dad working in construction helping build Disneyland we lived in Santa Ana
I was just out there last year and you are making me miss it all the more. It's a late recommendation, but one evening we found the Dancing Eagle RV park (Casino) near Casa Blanca NM (about 45 miles west of Albuquerque). While not a destination, it was a nice full hookup oasis for $11.36. Had cheap gas too.
Good to know, since I'm probably going back this year
We were shooting for the Gallup Walmart, but it was getting dark and saw their billboards. Think it was cheaper than the generator gas to run the A/C, but the casino is at 6,000 ft and made for a nice cool evening/morning.
Lol was that a 13 point turnabout? Kinda looked like something from hell I'd have to do!! Cheers 🥂 and Happy Happy Holidays!!
Traveling Robert doesn’t always drink beer, but when he does he drinks Dos Equis.
excellent.¡¡
Gotta admit, that was hilarious.
Stay thirsty my friend.
Always
Nothing wrong with the quality of the video. Looks fine to me.
Glad you like it.
Robert, it's all relative, I guess. I grew up with blurry black and white TV shows and a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera (Google that for fun!), and I could not afford color film, so your camera work is fantastic. This is a very entertaining video, especially the trip down the dirt road. Rock on, and safe travels to you.
Thank you. Yes we live in the golden age of photography for sure.
CAMERA VIEW IS GREAT
You should have gone north over the interstate about 2 miles near the train bridge to see the original town. all that remains are the stone piles of the town.
14:56 - I think you need a smaller travel trailer! I know you think you have a small trailer, but here in Europe that is not very small. With a smaller trailer you can just unhitch it and move it around yourself, so you can easily get out of problems like that. Thanks for another great video!
It would have been great to be able to just lift the tongue and turn it around...I though about it actually but this one is too heavy
For an european this looks like a dream
We want to do that trip from Chigaco to the END Route 66 .....next coming year (2022).
the Magic Started. yeeeeeeeeeeeeah !
:-)
Hey Robert AL from Atlanta here Love your Channel man watch it every day sometime twice im one of your biggest fan sir, Hey how can order one of your CD's I love driving in my RV.... even got my wife looking and singing it lol .......Man what you do is incredible please keep up the good work ......P.S. I love when you cook in the RV with your egg..onion and pepper with bacon and spinach my wife love this and i give you all the credit ..you are the greatest man at what you do...Love It.
Thank you so much Al. The CD is available at freeinmyrv.com
I like the 60 fps, much smoother pans. Maybe the 30 fps would have been ok at a higher bit rate? Great video! Next time try for the ABQ Balloon Festival, it's amazing!
Yes, 60 fps looks less "cinematic" but is a lot more forgiving with fast movement. One of these days we'll make it to the balloon fest.
Great video-ography Robert. To bad you could not fly the Mavic over the crater. So many places are banning drones now. I hardly take mine with me when I travel any more. I thought the crater viewing area [being privately owned they] would allow drones - maybe just add a dollar sure charge. LOL
I'm seeing more and more of those signs. You have to be in the middle of nowhere or on the water. I guess I could have flown it in Two Guns.
I been looking at a lot of your videos. They are all so enjoyable. I'm interested in hitting the road at a future date. I really like your rig. It's cozy and seem to be easy to travel with. I don't want to sink alot of money in just for show but I do want to be comfortable...Any info helps. Thanks!!!
Hey rob u should have went through the Navajo nation u just went to our casino
Always enjoy your videos Robert. Thanks for sharing your travels with us.
I wonder why the cliff dwellers were called the Sinagua (Spanish "without water"). You would think that they'd have a native American-type name. Could the early Spanish explorers entering the southwestern US have nicknnamed them "sinagua" because of the arid part of the country or that they might not have had easy access to a water source?
Makes me want to do some research on them. You've piqued my interest.
Keep up the good work and stay safe. Cuidese.
Thank you! The explanation I got back at Montezuma Castle (same Sinagua people) is that the Spanish explorers couldn't find any permanent rivers in the area, so they called them the people sin agua. I guess their original name was lost in time.
Like!
Love watching all the great places you visit. Do you often travel alone?
Safe travels.
I'd rather not travel alone. Thank you!
I agree! More fun traveling with someone to share the experience.
If you have not purchased Robert's albums look into the Robert Morales Travel Music 2020
Test it on iTunes
Try playing it as you work
For me there is nothing better. I'm not affiliated with Robert. Desert Rain has no lyrics and just like Foothills it is incredible. Lofoten is another great piece.
There is so much great music it's difficult to choose, buy the album so you can have them all.
Robert will you guys buy a new suv soon to pull minnie tinnie?
If it will make you feel better, I'm a pro at going down dead end roads. LOL
Hello Robert my name is Mario Ruiz I am 26 years old and I’m a new subscriber.I am from Southern California, Fontana to be exact I stumbled on your channel and became an instant fan because of you I now have a goal to work toward.Im going to travel this great country myself one day ...I would like to document everything I see for my son and future children and grandchildren do you have any first timer advise when it comes to cameras and cam quarters?I have no experience when it comes to that
Thank you Mario. Actually, the best entry level camera you can find is your phone, especially the flagships, iPhone 8, Samsung S9, Google Pixel, and the good thing is you always have them with you. Then if you feel you need an optical zoom you can move up to a nice camcorder lie the Sony FDR series, or a point and shoot with good video capabilities like the Sony RX100 series, or an action cam for underwater. But if I was starting vlogging right now I would try using the phone first. Paul of The Motorhome Experiment shoots 90% of his video with his phone, and the quality looks pretty good.
