    How was the braking performance on the xmax going down Genting? My concern has always been that the brakes would overheat

    • @FizoTravel
      @FizoTravel  Před měsícem +1

      Braking was good, im on aftermarket brakepad call FizPower. Also im careful with my braking i know i shouldn’t brake too long so i went down slow and use the little of engine braking that the Xmax have. Shouldn’t be a problem for u too, just make sure your pad is in good condition. Cheers.

      How to use engine brake for cvt scooter.
      When going downhill cvt tend to free wheel as the speed goes up. To use engine brake, just rev the throttle for a second to reengage the cvt. It will slow you down

    • @FizoTravel
      @FizoTravel  Před měsícem

      @flyinghigh2000 You cant bro, there’s just a very little engine braking when free wheeling..the only hope is to go down slow speed and time your braking well..Cheers

    • @flyinghigh2000
      @flyinghigh2000 Před měsícem +1

      Genting is not that steep. You can rev the throttle easily. When freewheeling, there is no engine braking. Only the friction from the cvt. Revving to reengage the cvt to get the engine braking is a common skill in Indonesia, where I learned this skill. It is scary to think to rev your engine on a very steep incline but it works wonders. No more over heated brakes.

    • @FizoTravel
      @FizoTravel  Před měsícem

      @flyinghigh2000 You’re right..revving is another solution but the rider must be skill and knows what he’s doing, thats why to be safe i just advise riders to go slow. Every rider is different. I myself been to Indonesia Bromo, was told by my guide there’s alot of accidents and a few deaths from scooters going down from Bromo. Anyway good to have another solution. Cheers.

    hi thanks for the video
    my i ask why yyou chose to buy a Xmax 300 ?
    Is it not you need B full license for this ?
    If you have B full i think you can buy more powerful bike / scooter and if you dont have B full i think you not supposed to ride this scooter
    No offense just wondering why Xmax 300
    Nevermind i already read in thhe commands you are from Singapore

    • @FizoTravel
      @FizoTravel  Před 20 dny +1

      Thanks for watching brother, I have my full license in Singapore, I used to ride big normal motorcycle until i downgraded to 200cc-300cc scooters since 7-8years ago.
      I started with 200cc scooter which is great for city riding but then i realised 200cc scooter is underpowered for highway, upgraded to 300cc and i feel this is the sweet spot having enough power while still being economical. I used to ride 600cc-1000cc motorcycles and i hated it when riding in small tiny island Singapore where it traffic congestion is bad. Big bikes get so hot quickly hence i find the 300cc scooter is better at it while still having enough power to ride up north to Malaysia or Thailand once in awhile. Hope that explains.
      Thanks for watching again👍🏼

      @@FizoTravel Hey man thanks for the reply
      I was just wondering do you ride illegal a 300cc with B2 license or you have B full and ride "only" an "expansive" 300cc where you can have for roughly the same money a 400 / 500cc scooter / bike
      Yeah i understand if you mainly ride around Singapore a 300cc is more than enough but for the long distance specially like in your case with pillion and luggage i would rather have a bit more power for those times when you need to get out of the danger zone quickly
      I have a Kawi Z900RS which most of the time is over kill but i love the retro style. As a Dutchman living in Melaka i was wanting to buy a Kawi Z650RS which sadly not available in Malaysia
      How was your ride up to Genting did your scooter have some oomph left or was it just enough to go up and keep up with the rest of the traffic ?
      You mentioned about big bike getting hot this is true but its for me only at the traffic lights and now i wonder why you say scooter is not getting hot i thought scooter and bike with full fairing getting more hot because all around the engine is covered up and there is not so much opening for the heat to go out.
      Any ways i wish you many safe kilometer on your scooter keep the shiny side up

    • @FizoTravel
      @FizoTravel  Před 20 dny +1

      Nice to know you’re in Melaka, my favourite historical city in Malaysia,
      My Xmax 300cc is original 300cc from Yamaha Agent in Singapore, not modified 300cc, i understand that the Xmax is 250cc in Malaysia due to Malaysia licensing system, in Singapore you can’t even ride an 250cc on beginner licence which is up to 200cc only.
      Yes the engine does get hot a little bit but nothing as bad as big motorcycle as u dont feel it on your leg or thigh and for scooter like Xmax since the engine is low and mounted on the rear swing arm, you don’t feel the heat.
      Yes i agree for long distance travel definitely a big motorcycle 600cc above will be better especially on the highway. But again i find my Xmax is fast enough for the speed i like to do which is 100km/h-120km/h on the highway..and if i wanted to go faster, my Xmax will be happy bringing me up to 150km/h. I can’t say the same about the 250cc version though.
      But still big motorcycle definitely faster on the highway. But since 80-90% of time in a year im riding in Singapore only. This Xmax is a sweet spot.
      And if u notice even in Malaysia the Xmax scooter is getting it popularity among Malaysia riders, and they uses it for touring too. And talking about touring, you wont need those bulky side panniers on the Xmax which will slow you down on City roads as the Xmax has the underseat storage and the size is equivalent to 2 side panniers. Cheers
      ps: the Yamaha Tmax will be a perfect long distance scooter with some compromise on storage space👍🏼

      @@FizoTravel Hahaha okay finally i think i understand what you mean not getting hot
      It is YOU not getting hot but the scooter still getting hot but the construction of the scooter makes it you wont feel the heat
      Yeah living in Melaka paradise city ;)
      Oh i dont ride with side cases at the moment but i also doubt your underseat storage would be big enough.
      My wife always needs to bring a lot of things with her (women right ?) LOL
      Yeah Xmax 250 and also Honda Forza 250 are very popular in Malaysia.
      If money no issue i would like to test Aprilia SRV 850
      Or for my self if i wanted to buy a scooter my choice would probably be the Honda X-ADV 750
      Maybe one day i see you in Melaka

    • @FizoTravel
      @FizoTravel  Před 20 dny +1

      @@willidevegt8831 Ya man, really not feeling the heat on Xmax😀, Regarding the storage whenever i tour on Xmax i always told my wife to pack her stuff in a bagpack, and i did mine the same too, then those two bag packs went under the seat storage and it fit nicely. And other stuff like emergency kit and rain gears goes to the rear top box.
      Melaka is nice, being a Malay Singaporean myself i have relatives there in Melaka, hope to see u in Melaka too when im there.
      Yea Xadv is good choice too, i tested it and gave my first impression review when i ride it in Thailand, you can take a look, i posted it about 1-2yrs ago. But in my opinion if i were to go for that 750cc honda engine i would go for the NC750x instead which also popular here in Singapore.
      Or if money isn’t an issue, go bigger..think Tracer 900, Honda Nt1100 or AfricaTwin..Or even European Brands… Fast enough for the Malaysia Plus highway. Cheers.
