I love the 2.8 version for stills, and the f4 version for video.
Cool and informative video. Love your humor. It would be interesting for you to do a video demonstrating the advantages and disadvantages of shooting in crop mode vs adding a cropped sensor camera to your kit. Thanks for your consideration.
A useful demonstration. Thank you.
One big advantage with EF glass is the filter adaptor that can use Variable ND and CPL.
that undone joke got me in ;)
Thank you for the comparison Jared. The 24 - 105 is usually on my camera for nature and portrait photography. I’ve been keeping my eye on the 24 - 70 f/2.8 and if I decide to purchase it, it will be around Christmas. Need all the deals I can get 😂
Be sure to go on Canon's Refurbished around 5 or 6am on Black Friday. Those were the best deals I have ever seen.
Super useful showing for bokeh difference!! Not much difference to my eyes between f4 and f2.8 after 70mm so will go for a prime 1.2/1.4 for that use 👍🏼
Beautiful neighborhood
I have both. You showed me some difference between the two. Great video !
Thank you! They are both amazing lenses in their own right.
@@JaredHoyman24-105 f2.8 L ?
@@impopio4987 I haven’t had a chance to test it out but it looks great from what I see in reviews. A little big for travel.
24-105, and some nice RF L primes, for me: I use a zoom only for it's portability, when I want to pack light - so weight is a big factor.
I agree! Weight is probably the most overlooked feature when shopping for a lens. People look at iq and aperture but neither matter if you don’t use it much because of the inconvenience of packing it in your bag.
Dang, now I want both!
LOL....that wasn't my intent, but I convinced myself through this process that I want to keep both too. Same thing happened to me with the 14-35 and 15-35.
The 24-70 is sharper and you can see it immediately. A 24-105 2.8 would be awesome!
It’s now available
You’re getting so many steps in
Do you think the new version of the RF 70-200 f2.8 that has been rumoured and said to be internal zoom will be like this? But in white? 🤔
My guess is that if they are bringing in a version II after this first version is hard to beat then it would have to be something like internal zoom and maybe par-focal.
So if You could choose only one of these wich one would You pick?🤔
That’s a tough one but I think I would choose the 24-105 f4 and then buy a couple inexpensive primes.
Is this shot in atandard mode?
Yes
why would you not do a side by side?
It’s like what I tell my kids. You get what you get so don’t throw a fit.
@@JaredHoyman 🤣 first of all I’m not your kids. secondly, I think that response comes from dealing with a naturally ignorant and toxic comment section for several years so I get the sass. I was genuinely curious though if you have some sort of limitation or cause for why you won’t do it so I’ll know in the future if I decide to do a side by side if I shouldn’t do them or not. definitely not a dig of some kind. I know you replied to that thinking you got a burn, so hate to take that away from you. but just wanna clear up I was genuinely curious. preciste the response though
Real men aren't afraid to say "bokeh"
No they are not!
Video is obviously oversharpened
It was straight out of camera on standard picture profile with no post done to it on the r6ii.
I will reveal a secret to you. The aperture of 2.8 can be increased to 4.0. 4.0 cannot be decreased to 2.8.
I’ll tell you a secret too. F4 lenses are lighter and offer wider zoom ranges when it comes to travel and……….they are cheaper. Shhhhhh….don’t tell anyone. It’s a secret ;)
