We have 3 409s and 3 417s. 409s have gone 3 years with no major issues. the 417s we have has a few things giving us issues one that the def head unit needed to be replaced and a second machine has a electrical draw of some kind and the machine goes dead in 2 days. The dealer took it in and had it for about a week and were not able to solve the issue so we decided to just remove the isolator switch after every use and they will continue to diagnose the issue in the summer time when we are not using the machine. All of this was warranty and the dealer near us (Moore JCB) has been excellent when we have had issues they are usually there the same day and get it done. Overall we are very happy with these machines 1000x better then plowing with a tractor!

Hey. I’m plowing with a 417 this year. This is our first year with it. Do you use float and/or ride control when plowing? I find it follows the contour of any up and downs of parking lots better in float but float kicks in a 2 mph so that’s a pain when you already have your blade set and the blade jumps up when you hit the 2 mph

I guess I’m asking what your best method is to get blade set and get moving in the most efficient way?
I have a 407 for a couple years and leave it in ride control. Basically set the blade down and go.

If you are talking about the smooth ride feature that you turn on with all the buttons on the pillar i am always plowing with that off. I find the plow will randomly lift off the ground as you are plowing. I am consistently making little adjustments keeping the 2 red markers on the plow in line with each other to keep the down pressure constant.

@@mcisaaclawncarelandscaping7450 I was talking with one of our drives that is in a 409 and he said the same thing he never turns the smooth ride off. Never plowed with the smaller ones to I don’t know but I find with the big we machines (417) I always turn it off when I get to site to start plowing.

@@EthanC1721 I am using the same plow as you, only a 8-16. On the 407 we have a 8-14. I plow the same way you describe with the fine adjustments as you go. I love these plows, but sometimes wonder if they are the best option for small lots where a lot of adjustments are needed versus a big parking lot. We also have a small john deere 4066R that has a jrtx driveway set up on it for one of the hoa's. I find it to be surper fast if I put that tractor with the loader to do all the pulling out of tight areas and allow the loader to do all the pushing. Obviously time constraints doesn't always allow that to happen.
