  • NATS has just reopened recruitment for trainee air traffic controllers, but what does that process look like and what kind of career can successful candidates look forward to?
In this episode of Altitude we’re exploring the whole recruitment process, from understanding the requirements and the application process through to assessment and beyond. We’ll also be looking at the training, what’s involved and how candidates can best prepare for success.
Two air traffic controllers will share their experiences of recruitment, training and validation and what it’s like to then put that learning into practice looking after some of the UK’s most congested airspace and one of its busiest control towers.
Recruitment for trainee controllers is open so find out more and apply at www.nats.aero/careers/trainee-air-traffic-controllers

Could I ask if you have a degree and roughly how you went about preparing for the tests, I can't find any information on what the tests include

16 year old hopeful ATC here! Trying to gather all the information I can before I double down with it as a career choice. 9 tests had me bricking it but I’m hopeful 😂. Trying to find out the different topics for the tests at the moment

I'm attending the stage 3 virtual assessment next month. The idea of virtual assessment is new to me so we'll see how it goes.
Those who are thinking of applying, please do and don't stress too much about 9 + 2 stage 1 and stage 2 tests. They are simple straightforward.
    Wish me luck 😂

Ive never understood group discussions as part of recruitment. Its not working as a team its just a opportunity for the extroverts to shine.

Hey, just messaging because I myself am definitely an introvert. I've had to do 'group discussions' twice recently, once for BA and also for NATs Stage 3. Both times are nerve wracking but from the feedback I received on both, it's mainly about just showing you can be 'extroverted' enough to actually get your points across and work in a team, and equally be as good (if not better) a listener as well as a talker.

I am continuing to research my answers while I await a response, but I have two questions.
I am a U.S. citizen interested in relocating, and I will be 36 in May. Would you encourage me to go forward with an application?

I think they have a certain age limit that you can join, you should search that up first just incase.

@@ChannelFish279 I ended up learning about contract towers. There is one program in the south of the U.S. that provides a pathway into that.

why does Kim have to make it political? why is it bad if the organisation is dominated by white men? its a white country and most women are building family's and don't want careers. its interesting her motivation to get rid of most of the men and make them the minority. what's your fundamental problem with white men being the majority in your industry? genuinely just curious. because it seems abit like discrimination to me but who knows . . .
