  • This video shows you how the mighty Trent gives birth to an Aegir (tidal bore) similar to although smaller than the seven bore. We followed it for some 20 miles and watched it grow both in height but also in strength. I hope you enjoy it.

Amazing work !!! As a "bore-spotter" I know what it takes to be able to chase a bore on film. I've been writing a book about ALL tidal bores in the world and obviously the Trent Aegir is in there. Maybe more exposure for my 2nd volume (at work).

What a fantastic compilation for us bore lovers! Thanks v much for sharing that. Especially liked the way you give locations on the map making it easier for people not familiar with the area/river to find a good place to observe the aegir.

rob bridges Hi Rob, Thanks for your comments. I am so pleased you liked it! It was a fun but pretty wet and cold day though. Nice to know we have something so amazing on our own doorstep!

Hi Rob, it was filmed on the 19th April. There is another one on Wednesday (30th Sept) which is a 9.7. which I will be chasing so will keep you posted. Should be a good one!

Thanks v much. I can use your video and tide tables for a near location (say Flixborough) to find out when the aegir will pass a particular point in the future. I'll be travelling 80 miles to see the aegir, so this info will prevent a wasted journey. :-)

This was a predicted 1* Aegir. Fascinating video and thanks for the effort in tracking it so far. Well done. :) Did you manage to see the 3" Aegir, just gone, on 29 and 30 September? It was a shame the weather was misty, but I managed to film it on the 30th, and I have uploaded it to CZcams. :)

Could you let us know what date it was filmed on please. This will enable people to find the tide heights and times at various locations on the river for that day. Many thanks.
