I agree with you on most of your choices, especially microfiber sheets, gnomes, and carpet! I'm commenting mainly to encourage you since you seemed a bit down recently, to let you know that I'm here for all of your content and truly appreciate the hard work involved in creating videos on a regular basis. I know I could never do it and don't want to, so I am grateful to you (and Sean) for sharing all of your skills, ideas, etc. on CZcams. So a big THANK YOU for all of the years of hard work that you put into this channel and I have truly enjoyed seeing your evolution and growth! Love all that you do and the quality of your content. 💕
The microfiber sheets are my biggest No.. they move all over the bed. Lesson learnt
I agree with most of your choices Christina. We do use top sheets because I find removing the duvet cover every week to be such a chore! It's so much easier to just wash the sheets. Sending thanks from Adelaide in South Australia. 👏👏
I personally love a top sheet and tend to use it more than the top blanket. Probably because I’m warm at night, but mostly because my husband steals the blanket most nights. lol. I agree that each person should just do what works for them.
I actually love a top sheet 😁.
I agree with all except the top sheets. If you don't have this then the blanket or quilt will need to be laundered more often thus wearing them out faster. It's a cleanliness thing in my opinion. I use the top sheet summer and winter.
I'm with you on 9 out of 10. I like a top sheet because I use quilts not a duvet. My quilts are hand made and I don't like to wash excessively. Good list though.
I’m with you on everything except the top sheet. 😂I grew up sleeping with top sheets so still do. I don’t want to have to wash my duvet every week.
Gnomes are a “no” for me as well. And I can’t stand carpet and short curtains!
@@thediymommy yep, that’s what I meant. Lol
I guess I’m lazy… the thought of struggling to get the cover back on makes me 😬 .
YES!!! 100% agree!!! It’s a battle to get it on I certainly don’t want to have to do it weekly!! And sometimes you just need that light top sheet to make you feel “safe” and don’t want a duvet to cover up with!
@@janbeard494 I'm with you, Jan! Not worth the effort to stuff the duvet every week. 😊
I love a top sheet. To me it helps keep me warmer. I never have tried the microfiber sheets and I stick with cotton. They are the best. Thanks for your videos 😊
Totally agree on everything! I’ve moved into a house with carpets upstairs & textured walls in the kitchen - desperate to remove both, along with painting over the orange pine stair rails & panels 😂
Totally agree about microfibre sheets and I hate gnomes too! I’m a top sheet user because I don’t want to wash my duvet cover frequently. I don’t find a top sheet difficult to keep at the top! I also like drapes from the ceiling to the floor. To me it gives a touch of elegance.
Hello DIY Mommy, 🥰 I pretty much agree with you on everything, especially with light and bright rooms are a must with our climate and the house stile we currently have! I love cozy but injected in accessories and plants! Happy Easter!❤
Love this video. We just recently stopped using the top sheet and it’s great, it also has greatly helped with not being too hot.
What a great video ! Omg agree on the gnomes, oak cabinets, carpet, my grown kids never wanted a top sheet on their beds when they were little, and kept taking them off, but I grew up with them on my bed and are a must for me, cotton sheets for sure ! Happy Easter from Ontario ! xo
I’m with you on every hated design idea!🇨🇦
For me though I’ve done short curtains in bedrooms. They were a must but now with the nest empty, I can switch those out! I really love your videos! I hope you don’t get too much grief over the gnomes!
I live in Texas so a top sheet in summer is a must but all my grown kids absolutely hate top sheets. I’m with you on everything else. Thank you for brightening my weekend 💖
I agree with all except the top sheet. Living in Australia in a tropical climate you could not sleep under a duvet cover you would melt. Love your videos.
I don't like wall to wall carpeting. However I have it in my condo! I sit on the floor and do stretching on the floor. At 60, it's just easier on my creaking bones! I love your videos, and your gentle presence. Thank you for all your hard work .
I think the same! 😊
No dark rooms, no short curtains, no wall to wall carpet, no golden oak cabinets, no tile counter tops 😮 😊
The gnome dislike is hilarious! 😂 I bought some mini ones for Christmas last year thinking they would no longer be a thing in a year, but they are still showing up! Loved your video. ❤
I have the same bedroom set that you used in the little lake house. That made me smile 😊
100% cotton sheets. A top sheet for me.
I have to have a top sheet. I am not taking a duvet cover off a duvet, washing it and putting it back together EVERY week! So much work. The top sheet is next to me, protects the covers & is washed every week. I also don't like microfiber. All cotton lover here. S
You're definitely right about carpet Christina, I finds rugs the go too, at least if it gets ruined or you want a change, it is easy and cheaper to change out. Very funny about the gnomes, but yes, they aren't that cute!! My bedding is the same as yours, no top sheet for me!!! Thanks for sharing!!! 👍
I agree with you, especially on the gnomes! I would add one more....artificial plants or flowers. They never look real, and they collect a lot of dust!
Absolutely agree with everything! Although I do like a top sheet for the hot flashes because I can’t sleep without something on me 😂
Bought our first home that had golden oak cabinets in the large kitchen. Before we moved in, painted all the cabinets a dark, denim blue. SO happy with the choice and it will help get by until we can afford to reno the kitchen with IKEA cabinets!!
I had to compromise with my husband when it came to wall to wall carpet in our home. We only have it in the bedrooms. I hate it so much! I wish I hadn’t compromised. It is such a pain to change now.
Ooooh…You almost got 100%! I highly agree with all, except a top sheet! Personally, I think it’s weird to NOT sleep with a top sheet. I would much rather wash my sheets more often than having to wash blankets or take apart a duvet every week. And you must be a WILD sleeper to have your top sheet bunched up by the morning! 😂 Ours never is…and I move around ALL night! Anyway, to each his own! Also, anyone that gets mad at you because you hate any of those things is out of their mind! Everyone has different preferences…People need to just get over it!! 🙄 Love your videos!!! ❤️
I have to have a top sheet but I agree with everything else you listed. I do have a strong aversion to microfiber sheets and prefer cotton sheets.
•Agree on microfiber sheets
•Disagree on top sheets
•Agree on Gnomes
•Agree on curtains
•Agree on light fixtures. Unfortunately I’m have the boob ones. Will change when I can
•Agree on carpet but do have wall to wall in bedrooms
•Agree on tile countertops
•Agree on textured walls yet I have my bathroom done in a stucco sort of style that I love
•Agree on cabinets
And can’t remember 10th.
I do LOVE your style of decorating and glad to see more of your taste and talents
I use extra flat sheets for table covers. Over kitchen tables, side tables nite stands etc. It's one way I can add a splash of color in a room and protect my wood furniture at the same time. This started when family gave me sheets when I first moved out of my parents home. I got sets but the fitted ones had either rips by the elastic edge or holes near it so those got thrown out and I was left with extra flats. My sister took some and made them into curtains. Just needed seems in the right spots
Addressing the top sheet issue, as a person with personal summers (aka hot flashes), the top sheet is a must because a duvet is too warm. Sometimes the thin layer is all I need.
I might very well change my mind when I have my own personal summers in a few years! 😅
I'm definitely with you on rhe micro fibre sheets they are horrible 😅
But I do love a flat sheet if it gets too warm for my duvet it's just a nice cover up ❤
Have a lovely Easter 🐣
Agree with every point on your list. Knomes creep me out. Only “characters” in my home allowed are Santa and Teddy Bears. This is a childhood scare thing. (Long story). Thank you Christina! I wish a BEAUTIFUL EASTER weekend to you and your family❣️
I knew this post would be fun. I agree with you on most of them except the top sheet because I'm too old to wrestle with a duvet. I had mostly all golden oak cabinets and have painted most of them so far. I'd add word art to the list if I may. Not really a home decor item, but bunkbeds and daybeds drive me nuts. I don't know how people manage them and not everyone can afford Beddy's. I so appreciate your talent. Enjoy your weekend and Happy Easter to your family.
I completely agree with these points, especially the top sheets, carpeting, and boob lights! Our house was a flip that we basically re-flipped when we bought it because they did a terrible job. It was wall to wall carpeting and boob lights among other things. I have replaced every light in this house. We lived with the carpet for a couple years but it's gone now and I'm so happy. We have dogs and carpet holds onto hair, odors and dog messes. It's so gross!
GIRL! I totally agree and would add puddling curtains. I did it once when they were trending and would never do it again.
Fun video this week. I love to hear other perspectives. I agree with most all your thoughts. Have to have a top sheet 😊. Also hate wall to wall carpet and the infamous boob light. Both gotta go!
Also hate golden oak- ripped down some of mine and paint some and need to paint the rest!! Your channel gives me motivation!
I’m with you 100%. Another thing to add on my “never” list is a kitchen cupboard with a cathedral profile (square bottoms, rounded scrolled tops) as pictured in your orange oak section. I can’t even stand them painted.
Omgosh, i totally agree with you on all of them except for the top sheet. I have tried not putting one on but i had to have the top sheet. Lol. Great video loved it. 😊🇨🇦
I agree with you on all especially the carpet issue. I just moved into a house that has carpet in the Bedroom and lower level that I would love to get rid of. It also has brown cabinets but I’m reluctant to paint them because I did that in my last home, in fact I had them professionally painted and they were wearing and chipping in areas after just one year. Thanks for the video.
I totally started laughing at gnomes! 😂 I love them, but I can see why you think they're creepy. Lol!
I agree with your choices especially the sheets and the Gnomes
I agree 100% with each of your decor dislikes. I especially hate honey oak cabinetry, which is what I have had since my last move. Since I was out of commission with a knee replacement last summer, painting the cabinetry in my kitchen and two bathrooms is high on my priority list for this spring and summer!
I'm with you on every item except the top sheet. That's all I sleep under almost year-round for most of the night. But I don't live as far north as you, so I can see your point for you!
I live in the desert. A top sheet is a MUST in the summertime…and during menopausal winter nights as well. I need options of light coverage vs warmer ones. I agree with the other dislikes though.
Now, my two younger young boys( well grown men now) would agree with the top sheet thing. I like the top sheet myself, but everything else, I agree with you!
I’m a top sheet girl but I also like it tucked at my feet so it’s not everywhere. Also like the odd gnome at Christmas otherwise I agree with all the rest. Good video 😂
I am 58. Live in 150 year old perfectly restored home with immaculate primitive pine floors. I’m over it give me wall-to-wall carpeting everywhere!!!!🤣 solid, tight, wool White, or embossed or wild traditional floral Hotel print carpeting. I’m so ready. Bring it on!👵🏻🥳
Totally agree with you! ❤ I hate carpets and short curtains and golden oak, etc!
Having high quality, natural fibre sheets is money well spent! And I don't use a top sheet with my duvet either. On a few occasions, I've found bottom sheet only packages at HomeSense.
I'm a big fan of light and bright rooms too - and certainly no gnomes!!
I am a subscriber and I really enjoyed this video. I agree with most of your opinions, I love light and bright, cotton sheets etc., but one thing my husband and I did recently is we purchased a home in Michigan which had an (my opinion) ugly grey "barn wood looking" laminate floating floor. The house is on a crawl space so the floors tend to be very cold so we replaced the flooring in the hall and living/family room with wall to wall carpet, which we love, really makes the home feel warmer, quiet, and I really like the way it looks now. I just want to let you know when we pulled up the floating floor there were piles of sand and dirt underneath - completely gross - and it was all under the floor molding and door jams as well. I know what you are saying about the carpet not being clean, but our experience has shown us a little different picture. We kept the wood flooring in all the bedrooms which I found some nice area rugs to warm those spaces and we are in the process to changing the kitchen from tile to hardwood as well. Just wanted to share my experience - I am a big fan of your channel. Best Wishes Always!
Finally a person who is not a gnome lover. I’ve never liked the little creatures. No tiled counters. Have a great week.
Haha 😂 Love this “hate” video. I HATE gnomes - when will this trend be over!?!?! Honestly, why would a higher end store like Pottery Barn succumb to this trend? Money. Golden oak cabinets - cracks me up when I see real estate listings that say the kitchen has been updated and there are 80’s/90’s golden oak cabinets! We just replaced our hallway boob lights with recessed lighting! Great video 😊😊😊
Not a microfiber sheet person either. Love t shirt sheets....so cozy!
🙋♀️ top sheet! (my bedding stays put, basically) Out with the old, in with the new (depends on finances) Carpeting .. it holds so much dust and fibers which collects on furniture too (so not a fan of)
Dark rooms .. unfortunately not everyone has tons of windows for light (so if anyone looking in an Association .. keep looking elsewhere) You can't add them! Painting walls dark or Colorful with good lighting, makes a great statement! I like the faux walls myself. Would do if I had the Old Country European style (which I love)!
I partially agree with the wall to wall carpet. I do like carpet in my bedrooms. They don't seem as cozy with an area rug. I've had my room both ways and I chose to do carpet in this house. I only want carpet in the bedrooms though. All the other rooms should have the same flooring. I chose a wood-like LVP for durability.
!00% no microfiber but I must have the top sheet, especially for hot summer nights. Fun video!
For the textured plaster, when they get tired of it, they can have someone who does drywall skim coat over it to get a smooth wall finish again. It's not really expensive or time-consuming to do, and I used to have a wall done that way. But I agree with you about it being a trend, and i'm not sure if I would do it again.
9 out of 10 team Christina! We only differ on a top sheet, and only like one in summer.
I don’t like microfiber sheets, like a top sheet but only if it isn’t crinkled. Love light and bright, use valances to let light in, don’t like boob lights, really don’t like wall to wall carpet (germ collectors), don’t like the orangey color of golden oak, no opinion on gnomes, ick on tile❤ countertops, (don’t like grout lines), don’t like textured walls. GREAT video! I love that you shared your opinion no matter how controversial, and I totally agree- people should do what they love in their own homes no matter what trends or opinions others have. I don’t comment on your videos very often but I have to say that I enjoy them and really like your style.
I agree with every single thing! Thanks for sharing.
I agree with everything except the top sheet. I sleep extremely hot and don’t want sweat stains on my duvet. If I have to have wall to wall carpet it would be in the bedroom but otherwise I prefer solid floors. I’m not a huge fan of all tile floors throughout but I’d rather have that than carpet.
Hello Christina. I agree with you on everything but the top sheets, I am from Portugal in Europe and here it is common to use top sheets. I have some with embroidery and lace that I made myself. Love your channel. 🌸
Kindred spirit on almost all of your items to not have in a home. Top ones, microfiber sheets, short curtains, wall to wall carpeting, dark rooms and orange toned wood! 🥴 Top sheets though are a keeper for me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. First time commenting but I totally enjoy your posts!
I agree with everything you’ve said. Right on point! I have to ask… where is your dress from? I absolutely love it! You look amazing and very comfortable.
Same with the microfibre sheets and wall to wall carpet. I do use top sheets so not washing the duvet cover frequently. less bulk in the washer. i just wash the sheet sets weekly.
Definitely a different video for you but I like that you shared your dislikes. Those of us that admire your “style” can also appreciate the things that just don’t fit for you. We all have those. Thank you for sharing😊
I agree on everything you mentioned except the top sheet. And that is only because I just can’t sleep with out something over me, even if it’s just a sheet. But when I lived in Germany they just used duvets like you do - I think either way is fine as long as your washing them once a week at the minimum.
Wow!! I agree on every single item especially the gnomes! The one I agree with the most is the light, bright home that is a must!!
I am not a knome fan myself. Reminds me of an ole drunk or hobo. I like wall to wall carpet in bedrooms. Idk I think it's more quiet & cozy. Just my opinion. I do like long curtains too. I enjoy your channel & ideas. Happy Easter & God bless.
Thanks for sharing, Christina ❤
So with you on most everything!! 😉 (Especially the gnomes!) 😝
I think top sheets are a hold over from when beds were made with a “bedspread” that was just for show, then blanket(s), then the sheets. The blankets were hard to clean, also felt gross on your skin, thus the top sheet. But who makes their bed like that anymore?
I agree with the Microfiber sheets. As the the top sheet, I use the top sheep more then a blanket, do not use a duvet, because I get hot in my sleep and even kick the top sheet off sometimes. I need a top sheet.
7:32 I grew up with wall-to-wall carpets however, after I left home when I got married. I had to move from Victoria in Australia to Queensland and being hot up there, nobody has wall-to-wall carpet, many don’t even have carpets at all so I got used to changing the look of a room with some gorgeous area rugs, etc.
After my husband traded me into a younger model after we’d been married 33 years, my dad bought me home to Victoria as I had a severely broken leg and I moved into what was his and mum’s home, but he had left it after mum passed away 12 years ago.
(he moved into their smaller holiday home that was an Airbnb as he just couldn’t manage living in the same house without mum)
He allowed different family members to live in it over that period of time until it was my turn.
Mum always had wall-to-wall carpet and had not long replaced them prior to her diagnosis of a brain tumour, and it didn’t take long for her to pass away after the diagnosis. Long, story short, the amount of dust underneath the beds, couches in the formal areas and the rumpus/family room just EVERYWHERE was disgusting, and this was new carpet!
After having lived with rugs, even though I now live in a cold climate again, that Dad‘s home is on the market as he’s gone to a nursing home, my home will definitely either have the carpets pulled up or if I build, there will be NO W2W CARPET !!🤦🏻♀️
I'm with you on the 'gnomes'...lol😂
100% agree with you on the gnomes!! I’ve neverrrrr liked them and don’t get the hype! 😂
I love my top sheet , never going to give it up
I’m with you on every single point… except the flat sheet. I haven’t jumped on the duvet bandwagon just yet… so I don’t rule it out or disagree. The idea works for me to make the bed easier! All other points agree whole heartedly
I agree with every one of these! When it comes to bedding in Sweden we do it a bite different then most people seems to be doing it in the USA / Canada. So at first I didn´t understood what you ment by top sheet, but then I knew and the few times I have sleept with top sheet made me crazy and hate it so no for those and we only use duvet covers!
Most of what you hate I've had and wouldn't ever want it again! Especially micro fiber sheet, nooms(sp..) dark color walls or rooms, short drapes. I moved into a new home and all my drapes are too short for my windows. Carpet rooms, and tiled counter tops. My husband and I will be re-doing our kitchen and I have already told my husband no tiled counter, or floors!
I’m with you on all of these, except I do use a top sheet 🤭
totally with you on the gnomes. I don't get them! I also won't do dark rooms or live where there's too much tree cover. Sun is everything! And would prefer no tiled countertops. If I had them - not sure I'd rush to change them if they were in good condition. I currently have the 'honey oak' in a baseboard in one room. Haven't painted it cause am not sure what color to do (walls pale green that almost looks white)... and there's a time and neuro disease factor that makes painting almost not doable at this point... and hubby's world is already full! So sometimes we live w/ stuff we'd prefer not to. But good thoughts here. I'm on board with most except the top sheet. I've never had it bunch up. ?? Have a great day.
Yes, sometimes we have to live with items we don't love. Thanks for watching!
I have golden oak cabinets all over my house! Kitchen and bathrooms! I can't wait to paint them. Maybe this summer? But I have come to appreciate carpet with cold winters-- it's SO cold in the PNW, carpets make such a big difference. It's practicality over aesthetics for me-- I hate being super cold. 😉😊
I like your videos. And everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I really like gnomes and make all kinds of them and sell them at craft fairs. I also love the coolness of a top sheet . I don’t like a duvet or comforter because it’s too hot for me . I only put them on my bed to make it in the morning. It absolutely comes off at night. I really find it interesting how people are so very different. Viva la difference!!
I agree on the microfibre sheets I also dislike them. My daughter and I always hunt for the cotton which is not always easy to find.
I’m with you….gnomes just don’t do anything for me….but like you I appreciate gnome lovers 🤣🥰
I agree with you on all except the top sheet. I always like to be covered with something. If it is warm that would be just the top sheet.
I agree with most of these especially the gnomes and tiled counters. You would hate my bedroom though, wall to wall carpet, and short curtains. 😂
I use the flat sheet as a extra fitted sheet, as curtain, table cover, couch cover
Clever! I made floor length drapes for a bedroom out of four queen size flat sheets, two white ones as liners and french blue for the inside. Pleated tape from IKEA plus the special hooks and they're still going strong after at least 30 years. Sturdier than some of the purchased ready made drapes I've bought over the years.. 👍
I agree with your list. Not that I dislike top sheets, but I do wish I could buy just the fitted sheets and pillowcases as separates rather than as a set. I have used the top sheets as bed skirts in a pinch though. I wouldn't say I "hated" anything though (such a strong word.)
No to textured walls and definitely no gnomes. Yes to light and bright rooms for the look and mental health. Thanks for the video!
I'm not nuts for gnomes either. I love my top sheet. In the summer, we use just the two sheets for sleeping. But I don't like washing my duvet all the time. I dont like short curtains either.
Haha! I bought my first (and probably only) knome this past Christmas bc he was in light beige and white colors--neutral. He made me smile over the season. I 🙂 But when I saw a pastel colored one last week in a floral shop for Easter , my comment was, "Oh brother! " Too much ! 🙄
I live in Australia, and have always used top sheets. Beats having mozzie bite your legs while you're trying to sleep in hot weather.
You'd get far more sunny days in Australia, than living in Canada, which definitely helps mental health.
I agree with ALL of your comments. (I make my top sheets into extra pillowcases.)
I dont want to deal with trying to get the damn duvet cover back on every week, so a top sheet for me!
I agree with everything except the top sheet 😁. Also I hate microfibre sheets. Tried them once and felt suffocated. Sadly I still have the boob lights in my house. Will eventually get around to replacing them
I agree with you on everything! However, I am a quilter so I buy my queen sheet sets and use the top sheet for a backing on my quilts that I make.
That's so clever! Great idea.
You can also use flat sheets to make your own duvet cover. I plan to make one for a small 52x60 down comforter.
D Ko, that is so clever! ❤ quilting is intimidating for me but I hope to do some small projects in the future. I keep some pretty fabric to hopefully be able to do it sometime soon. 😅
@@homefreshalicious I have a quilting CZcams Channel called DKohn Designs, in case you might be interested. I share quilting how-to videos, Quilt Alongs, patterns and inspiration. Quilting is really fun!
@@dko3623 How cool is that! I will check it out! Thanks again have a wonderful week!🥰
