I just realised... We keep hating on Isaac, but he's being set up as yet another disappointment for Maeve. Just when she thinks she has found a nice guy, either a friend or a boyfriend, she'll learn about what he did that night and will be let down again. If she doesn't have a happy ending, I'm blaming my depression on Netflix.

This makes me so sad, maeve's story is so relatable and it's her one liners and small lines in her script that make her such a great character. She's really compassionate and keeps getting disappointed, that hurts

Me too. And remember the essay she wrote for Adam. We live as we dream - alone. Otis looked at her as Adam was reading it and KNEW she'd written it. Was season 1 ep. 6. Both well and truly smitten by each other by then, but too shy/scared to show their feelings. Thinking about it, sitting next to Maeve in assembly was about the closest those two got to each other in 16 episodes .....
myfeliness Otis was asshole to her though okay we all say dumb things when we’re drunk but he went a bit far Maeve doesn’t need a boy she’s better than that also I apologise for replying late I’ve only seen this comment today but I agree with what you’re saying they would be cute but Maeve has been through enough pain in her life at least she’s back at school now but we won’t see the next season til 2021
for me it was the stuff with her mom in season three. THAT scene had be in tears.
I think when she looks up at the stars and smiles she’s reminded of Otis because he’s the one that told the kid “love isn’t just about the moon and the stars” and she was there.
I had a theory just now.. Otis said "love isn't about grand gestures, or the moon and the stars. it's just dumb luck. and sometimes, you meet someone who feels the same way. and then, sometimes, you're unlucky. but one day, you're gonna meet someone who appreciates you for who you are." and so on... but Maeve looked at the stars after leaving Isaac's place, so yes, she may have been thinking about Otis and what he said that night at the dance, but what if she was thinking about Isaac and how he might be that someone who appreciates her for who she is. because after she got done crying over the stressful day she had, she went to Isaac and he cheered her up... So what if she felt appreciated by Isaac and that's why she looked up at the stars? because she felt Otis was right, about everyone finding someone who appreciates them for who they are, she felt he was right because she met Isaac and she finally had hope that she had met that someone...
I know that's a lot to read, but it's just a theory I had. I do hope it's not true though, because obviously, team Maeve and Otis since day one... I can't wait until they finally get together!! Hopefully it will happen in season three, and hopefully Isaac doesn't get in the way of their possible relationship!!
I was telling my one friend that I feel like if her and Otis do get together, it'll eventually be ruined by Isaac because I feel like they eventually have to make him and Maeve at least kiss at some point... because I feel like that's how every series goes. a possible love interest always becomes a thing for a short amount of time. in this case, I feel like they have to make Maeve and Isaac at least kiss at some point because they added him in the story line to be someone who's a possible love interest for Maeve, so it'd be weird to just kick him off the show or something without making that happen because he'll always have had feelings for her, and she's eventually going to find out somehow. just comes down to what her reaction would be.
I so often think Emma is just playing a character in a TV show, and I shouldn't get so emotional. But then edits like these come up and my stomach churns and the tears well up yet again. Oh dammit I'm off to watch Otis and Ruby in ep 7 for some comedy relief. Excellent work, cam. :-))

the thing that teared me up more than the message deleted was when she was waving to her sister. because unfortunately elsie would end up in foster care if she doesn’t have any more family and it’s almost like maeve is trying to calm elsie. since she would be in an unfamiliar situation

Listen, I don't give a fuck about the boys in her life. Her strength is at its peak when she supports the women in her life. She is incredible. She's kind, intelligent and mature beyond her years. She deserves recognition, a stable home and true friends. A boyfriend at her age is cool and all but it takes effort and time and Maeve doesn't really need to be concerning herself with that right now, ya feel?

I would like to see Maeve and Rahim, he could be bi and I that he would be a good boyfriend if he felt in love unexpectedly, instead of forcing it like he did with Eric. Otis just sees her as a manic pixie dream girl and hopes she can change is life and make it exiting and if Isaac really cared about her he wouldn't have deleted that voice message, because he would want her to know she deserves love, even if he knows Otis isn't right for her, he should have just talked about how she deserves so much better than Otis after she heard that message.
Great character and acting, shame she smokes. It's a pointless contribution, take the cigarette away and she's the same person.
