  • Back to back to back to back homers in the bottom of the ninth to tie it. Then a homer in the tenth to win it. But best of all, Vince Scully behind the microphone makes it the greatest Dodger game ever played in Los Angeles.

    RIP VINCE SKULLY. It was a privilege to hear him call this game. “BELIEVE IT OR NOT!” That line gives me chills! 😊

    God, Vin Scullys silence absorbing the atmosphere after a big moment is so legendary, and then he perfectly comes in says, “I forgot to tell you, the Dodgers are in first place.” What a fucking legend!

    • @jh.4770
      @jh.4770 Před 3 lety +6

      Before he retired, he was asked about his "use of silence" in an interview with Atlanta Braves broadcaster Chip Caray. He gave such a storied answer and it was terrific.
      He said when he was 8 years old he would crawl under a radio to listen to a college football game and that the crowd noise would absolutely intoxicate him. He'd love the crowd noise. He said he would let the crowd takeover because "for a brief moment I'm 8 years old again".
      Such a legend.

    Lost my dad this year we had a glorious time at this game! I watched Gray Davis give up and leave his field seats. My Dad and I walked to the escalators to leave through the lodge deck. We decided to stay after the first home run. I’m so glad we stayed it was electric.Strangers were hugging. The celebration poured out of the park into the parking lot and it was bedlam. It felt like we won the pennant!

    I WAS AT THAT GAME!! I was in 6th grade and begged my dad to stay even tho we were getting our asses locked. It was the middle of a wild card run in 06 and we had bomb seats. Joe biemel gave me a ball while he was in the pen. We moved forward to better seats at the end of the game since the stadium was starting to empty being down by 4 in the 9th. Then they ripped those off amd Nomar finished it in the 9ty. It was the best sports event I ever went to by far

    It was the 9th inning. I was working the late shift. We were down big so I wasn't paying close attention to the radio that I always have. Suddenly a slight roar caught my attention. Oh well - down by three. No outs. Still down by three but the crowd is cheering again. What just happened? Was it just a replay of the first homer? No it was another home run. Still down by two runs and I'm at work and still not paying close attention. After a tremendous roar I paid close attention to the rest of the game. Hard to say the best - one of the most unlikely comebacks I've known to have happened. And when Nomar finished it off in the 10th - what an epic feeling. Never give up. Never.

    Whats more unreal is that the Dodgers in 2006 were not at all a home run team, in that their highest home run hitters in 2006 were both Nomar and JD Drew, and both of them only had 20 home runs each.
    And everyone else had 15 home runs or less in 2006
    And yet they hit 7 home runs in this game against the Padres

    Padres just owned the Dodgers in 2006, going 13-5 in 18 games against them.
    And with this being the final game they played each other in 2006, had the Padres hold on to win this game, they would have finished 14-4 against them in 2006
    So unreal that they both finished with the same record, and that the Dodgers were able to make this sensational comeback in this game, despite the Padres owning them this season
