Gujiya shaped samosa...(Indian sweet 'gujiya' and snack 'samosa')
Gujiya - made with suji or all purpose flour stuffed with a mixture of sweetened khoa and dried fruits, and fried in ghee. Typically made during the festival of colors, Holi.
Samosa- fried or baked pastry with a savory filling like spiced potatoes, onions, peas, beef and other meats, or lentils.

Cool! The curry puff origin in Malaysia is from the British. They introduce the Cornish pasties (a big version of this and it is baked) brought over when they colonized the area. We fry them instead have varieties of filling. I love the sardine ones, favourite thing to have during Iftar (had it almost everyday from favourite kuih vendor).

I love stuff like this, my curry powder, such as it is is 1tablespoon of cumin, 2 of coriander, one teaspoon of turmeric, 2teaspoons ground ginger , as much chilli either ground or flakes as I fancy, and then sometimes add cinnamon 1/2teaspoon, sometimes fennel about 2 teaspoons , asafoetida, cardamom are sometimes extras. If I use shop bought I buy mild and add to it according to the taste I fancy. I love chaat masala in all its forms. It’s so sour. Beautiful crimping!

@@maxineharris9536 hi there, I got some hints from CZcams but mainly do the following. Cotton fabric to whatever size (I pinking shear the sides to stop them fraying). Put old towel on ironing board, layer of baking paper, fabric on top with bees wax sprinkled on it (either pellets or grated from a block), another layer of baking paper. Then iron so the wax melts evenly into the fabric, air dry for a minute then you’re good to go. Wipe clean as required with warm soapy water. Some people use their oven but this works for me. The way you demonstrated this makes it look nice and simple and not too overwhelming. I love these at the Thai restaurants but they tend to be overpriced. I will try your recipe out sometime soon! Looks fabulous.

Thanks for this video. It reminds me of the many, many times my aunt would make a huge batch of these when I was growing up and how delicious they were but now that she has Alzheimer's and doesn't do much of anything. Take care and God Bless!

Baba curry powder from Malaysia. Hands down the best aromatics, smooth, not over powering nonsense. Clean taste and no visible spices you get in those boxed one. Those have too many tenderizers and additives. They have chilli powder is also one of the best. Garam masala too, is mild and flavourful. Everything Baba spices is well made and clean. No salt added too. Curry puffs are one of the favourites in my family. It’s most requested from my 3 daughters non Indian husbands! 😂😂🤦🏽‍♀️

My Malaysian friend showed me these last Chinese New year. His family used to run a Malaysian restaurant in Sydney's east so he was a pro at the crimping. I guess being forced to make these as a kid is an easy way to impress the ladies now he's an adult haha.

This is my fav version of curry puff. My fav filling with this dough is spicy sardine.

In Filipino empanandas, we use lard or shortening. Margarine is good too. Butter is a little expensive but it’s still ok to use it.

Singaporean curry puffs. How I miss you! The most surprising thing was last time I was there the sardine ones were a revelation.

Here in Argentina we use a LOT of different kinds of dough for empanadas, and for sweet empanadas sometimes we use butter. generally, if you fry them or bake them, we switch up the dough as well. Love your videos!!
