    This video is a full automaton guide that shows helldivers 2 automaton tips and tricks for every automaton. This guide also goes over the helldivers 2 automaton weak points.     After the patch the railgun no longer penetrates heavy armor on safe mode, so things like the heavy devastator shield will deflect it. Even on unsafe it seems to reduce damage a lot when penetrating heavy armor. I would recommend using the alternatives I go over in the video if this is a problem for you. Haven't found a hulk yet to test railgun after patch. I also want to add that mortar sentry and EMS mortar are great for bots too as long as you throw them away from the action so they aren't too vulnerable. I was going to mention this in a short segment at the end of the video, but forgot to do it. Good luck!

      As I understand it, the penetration and weakpoint damage of unsafe mode is unchanged so it should perform the same when you're hitting heads and vents.

      @@timeforsuchaword That is 100% untrue. Charger legs take 4-5 shots full charge. It ruins the RG.

      The heavy devastator shield will absorb a fully charged railgun charge. I even charged it twice with a macro at 2950ms, which it explodes at 3000ms so it's safe to say the railgun no longer bypasses that shield

      The rail can still one-tap Hulks if you're REALLY riding the line on overcharge detonation and you land a nice shot; otherwise, two or three shots to visor is more common.

    I like that you point out armor class on a few enemies. There's a good chunk of the community which don't know which part is what armor.

    Also for factories: Autocannon can kill via the vents too. Fire at the lid, it should bounce down into the hole and explode the inside. Make sure the angle isn't too severe as if it fails to go all the way in it will not kill.
    The cool thing about this is it allows you to wipe out these factories not just from a great distance, but also if you are stealthing you can take out outposts without mobs knowing where you are so long as you aren't too close and behind cover before the factory explodes.
    Autocannon is good for the devastators because it make them flinch and can flinch and kill multiple devastators at the same time. Each time the shield ones flinch, they move the shield away for easy follow-ups.
    So I HIGHLY recommend the following stratagems for Automatons:
    Autocannon
    Eagle 110 Rocket pods
    Eagle Airstrike/500kg bomb
    Orbital Laser
    Autocannon for most fodder and certain buildings/factories.
    Rocket pods are very good for tough targets like hulks or tanks. They can also destroy structures, just make sure that your target is the largest target as it does auto-target.
    Eagle Airstrike for small building destruction, 500kg for when you want everything to go fuck itself.
    Orbital Laser for everything: Big bots, small bots, buildings, etc. Try saving it for tough structures, but also don't fear using it for big bots or when overwhelmed.
    You can use barrages for big camps if you want, I recommend the walking barrage since it has the highest chance of hitting the intended target. Just throw it inbetween you and the target, possibly a little to the right.
    Main Weapons:
    Sluggers: Staggers, can pen certain parts for quick kills(Glowing vents)
    Punisher: Stagger, better damage up close
    Liberator Penetrator: Medium pen and good accuracy
    Scorcher: Explosive rounds tear bots apart, amazing crowd control
    Sidearms:
    Redeemer: Best panic weapon, lots of ammo, high ROF, easy reload
    Senator: Lowest sound profile (best for stealth), easy headshot kills, also seems to have faster accuracy gain from stagger than the other two weapons.
    If you like the first pistol, unlock the redeemer and use it in single-fire mode, same thing.

      I once took down a fabricator with a recoiless rocket because I was out of grenades and desperate. So thats also an option if you're desperate and jammed. I think that means most explosive support weapons can destroy fabricators if you get a good shot at the vents. Recoiless rockets bounce off factories when you try to direct impact them, so thats likely true for even expendables if you are also really desperate.

      wtf... how tf do you solo the highest difficulty? i keep getting murdered i cant make two steps out of the pod... i legit went back down to 6 and 7 because i just cant handle it

      @NakedAvanger Well the difficulty just increased as I'm sure you already know. The kill requirement has been increased to 500 kills before extraction being available for both Terminids and Automatons. Is even harder on Console. I play on Ps5.

    Anti material rifle and autocannon can reliably one shot or two shot the striders. You do this by hitting them on the inside of the hip joint from the front. Its a pretty big sweet spot that causes the aoe to kill the pilot.

    Worth noting, you can also blow off a Hulk's legs. Destroying one will make them move way slower, destroying both will kill them instantly.
    Can be handy if you're stuck fighting a hulk with an autocannon. Otherwise, it's kind of pointless - Might as well shoot the head or vents instead.
    Also, I would advise an abundance of caution with Assault Troopers. That jetpack explosion CAN one-shot you even through a shield if they explode directly on top of you, and sometimes if you kill them while they're running, the physics can fling the ragdoll straight at you. If they're close, it's best to blow out their legs instead, or to dive away while shooting them.

      the autocannon is a 2 shot kill on a hulk if you hit them in the eye slit, just keep steady, crouch or prone, and pace your shots

      Melee against the jetpack ads work well two, one or two tends to knock them back to dump a couple rounds into safely, and the subsequent explosion can kill other closing enemies.

    For automaton factories: auto cannon shots deflect off the raised vent cover, almost always resulting in the shot’s explosion landing within the explosive trigger to destroy it.

      Nice, I didn't know that. I tried shooting in the door with auto cannon and I thought it didn't work for the door. Does the door not work with auto cannon? Can't remember if it was auto cannon I tried it with or not.

      ​@@ApeKnightGaming oddly enough, the autocannon can't destroy the fabricators through the main door. It only works if you ricochet it off the top vent cover. Not sure how that works out on a technical level, but it's a pretty niche problem and you're better off just shooting the vent cover than catching the door open anyways.
      You can shoot either vent cover from nearly a 20 degree angle in front of it and it'll still ricochet in, so you got a ~40 degree cone in front of the fabricator to work with. Personally my favorite way to take them out.

      I always destroy factories with one AC shot to the vent. Allows you to destroy them from 100m+ away without even entering the detection area

    Here is a pro tip for the devastators: When using the slugger shotgun, 2 shots to either leg will instantly kill one and is highly effective

    So: there's just been a patch that improves a couple of weapons but:
    1. Decreases the Breaker ammo and increases the recoil
    2. Slightly increases the delay until the shield recharges
    3. Most importantly for this video, decreases the penetration if the railgun IN SAFE MODE. Others have claimed that the unsafe mode is unchanged/retains the same penetration, so you'll have to time your shots well in unsafe mode for the effects mentioned in the video. Otherwise, what was said in this video should still be viable. Autocannon, grenade launcher, Antimaterial Rifle, missile launchers etc were unchanged.

    the turret of the hmg tank is low armor, you can use a scorcher and kill them with about 10-15 shots anywere on the turret, not just the weak point
    any other explosive works also
    works after patch too

    HMG Tank - The backpart of the hull where the engine should be can be shot with the autocannon. It is not glowing or anything but not armored.

    I love the Jar Dominator for these. With the explosive damage and medium armor pen it makes it a good tool for cleaning up a bot if you could not drop it in a hit or two if you find yourself needing to reload your strategem weapon.

    You can also use laser canon to kill Hulks. I found that aiming at the red glowing eye will kill it if you aim the laser at it. Not so effective compared to the other alternatives though but it does its job of exploding the hulk fully.

    Laser cannon in general is really good against automatons if you're accurate, couple of seconds on weakspots kill any and all automatons .Weaker automatons are gone with a single click to the head.
    The anti air tanks turret is weak against the laser support weapon and you can even hit the top of it form the front if you're slightly above it.
    Can also laser gun towers in the weakspot and they wont be able to turn fast enough if you hit them consistently in the vent.
    If for some reason tanks turret is obstructed perhaps due to a weird angle you can laser the rear armor of the tank for ~4-5 seconds to blow it up as well.

    Rocket pods will 1-shot the tank as well, very useful especially when your eagle is fully upgraded.

    Another tip for Tanks and any vehicle type enemies that have the orange vent on the back, the LASER CANNON actually fucking melts them.
    Like, 1-2 seconds of continuous fire will destroy a tank from full health. It’s an absolute sleeper pick.
    I like to use it on the missions where the big mounted guns on top of towers are present

    THIS GUY IS A GODDAMN LEGEND
    actually solid content, even I learned something and I thought I knew the bots really well!!!!!!!!! And I've done 3 bug missions, the rest all bots
    I ONLY use impacts and I get them to work on the fabricators vents ( you can also wait for the doors to open if you want ).
    THE CLOSER YOU ARE, the lower you need to aim. If you are at some kind of medium range, aim your grenade at the lower lip of the vent. If you are close, aim just a few inches lower under the lip. You will probably get used to it pretty soon.
    here's some advice for your next guide if you do one :)
    Fire damage is locational (I have seen someone claim this on discord)

    The flamethrower and fire damage in general deals damage to the place it hits, not a full body DOT.
    It also ignores armor and can damage weak spots. This means that a charger can be cooked in only a few seconds if you focus kne of its legs."
    My strategy is also to drop samples at the extract before doing things. You don't need to bring them with you. Just pick them up before the dropship lands. And tell your teammates you're doing it so they know not to pick them up.

    for fabricators: shooting an autocannon at the vent itself will ricochet directly into the fabricator and make it explode. very easy to do, just need to shoot the vent at the front

    Anti-material rifle seems to be the best current option as it can eliminate heavy units while still allowing a shield backpack.

    I did try using Autocannon sentry to take down a dropship. It takes about 9-12 shots to bring one down. Also have a different animation when it goes down. The dropship got broken into two pieces and fell onto the earth. in which it is cool to watch.

    SAM site is great but if there's rock formations around it, might as well not bother as they will block it's shots.
    Strafing runs are pretty good with walkers.
    Orbital gas strike can kill a factory too, but only a direct hit.

    Another thing that wasn’t mentioned: Turret towers. You can use a few Unsafe rail gun shots pretty much anywhere on the turret and it’ll explode. The orbital rail cannon also works well for this. I wouldn’t recommend using eagle strikes besides maybe the 500 KG to take them out as they don’t explode high enough to damage the turret

    I almost always have shotguns as my primary so I never knew devastators had medium armor because shotguns either have medium armor penetration or have a spread wide enough to headshot the devastator even if you aimed somewhere else.

    For the dropships you can also use the laser cannon but it'll take about 5 seconds of shooting the engines to take them down but still good if you fight all the gunships

    Regarding the tank’s weakspot, it’s actually the entire back half of the turret. The glowing spot does not have to be hit directly.
    Also nothing beats Plasma Shotgun for handling small fry and Devastators with a primary

    I've also been able to destroy fabricators with the autocannon. You have to be facing it straight on to get the angle on the vents with the AC. High ground helps some. When trying to shoot through the open door (with AC) I just end up hitting the bot coming out. Now knowing it can be destroyed through there I'll give it another try.

    Autocannon shot to the workshop vents can take it out too, gotta fire at a specific angle so the round can ricochet inside

    The tank has vents on the back of the threads themselves, they are black colored and have medium armor, if you can't get a shot on the weakpoint you can spam this place with medium pen weapons

    For tanks Schorcher seen to do the job rly well, even more not being a sup weapon is a nice back up, you also can just hit the vents maybe dominator or liberator explosive can also do that dunno

    Post patch the lasercannon is actually great against autmatons. It has a range of 200m and kills the backsides of towers/tanks quickly, scout striders can be killed from the front and hulks die to direct face hits.
    It's hard to tell how long exactly you have to hit the face for since a tiny bit of sway can kill your DPS but I killed a hulk in

    You are able to destroy bot fabricators with the autocanon as well. AIM for the top of the vent and it will ricochet the autocanon shot into the fabricator.

    Correct me if I’m wrong, but the rear engine block of the tank also seems to be a pseudo-weak spot if the glowing vent is otherwise unfeasible.
    I can’t imagine many situations where this would be relevant but I’ve noticed medium pen support weapons can put up decent damage to the engines.

      yeah rear body and also the side turret of the autocannon tank can both be penned by autocannon, and maybe the AMR, haven't tried it yet

    Raiders lead their shot so if you run in a straight line it will absolutely hit you. All you need to do is wiggle while running, if you look like you’re running left it will shoot left, even if you only flicked it to that side for a moment. Also, being prone or mid dive animation reduces the damage received from fire and explosions, as well as putting out fire immediately. You can eat a rocket as long as you are diving at the moment of impact.

    PSA: tanks can be killed very reliably by just one use of the 110m eagle rocket pod stratagem (this targets the largest enemy NEAR the beacon). Unfortunately hulks tend to move too fast for this stratagem to cleanly hit with the full barrage so its not usually worth wasting it on them.

    Strider has a weakspot which is a crotch. Slugger can penetrate it and destroy the mech.

    For the tanks, i have been killed by the turret rotating into you(both kinds)
    Also, climbing a tank when its turning in your direction(treads) can insta kill you as well, so take appropriate action.

    Damn, guess the AMR is better than I thought. And can confirm the Autocannon is effective against all bots except for drop ships and Hulks when you're not behind them. I'll try focusing their legs from now on, never been able to kill them with headshots so far. Same goes for devastators

      You can Autocannon their head/legs. The head is hit or miss, since the bullets have a hard time landing on such a small spot though.

      500000 Autocannon shots to anywhere that isn't the back, or 3 in the back... offensive stratagems are your best option when it is facing you and you don't have someone else to go around it

    What i found very funny with this type of video, it shows you it s pretty easy to kill units like a hulk. But i don t know why, it s harder to kill a hulk with a sniper when they are 5 of them with automatons everywhere shooting at you and 2tanks. But i learned some tricks in this video.

      Yeah, now that you mention it i should have had a segment showing how basically running and throwing airstrikes behind you, then only turning to shoot when you have a good opening is pretty much the only way to deal with crowds of heavy mobs like that. There were so many things I was focused on making it that I lost sight of some stuff I would have liked to have in the video.

    Autocannon is the real strider killer. Just one tap the front shield, you go through it with ease and kill the pilot instantly

      Sometimes took me 2 shots, but yeah. It makes quick work of them. For some reason devastators usually take 3 hits even to the waist for me

      Yeah, autocannon and grenade launcher are great for striders. I think the reason autocannon is a 1 shot most of the time, but sometimes doesn't is because I'm pretty sure as long as the splash damage hits the pilot in some way it kills it instantly.

    My question is, why even do automatons unless you have a specific order/major order to do them? They are wayyyyyy more difficult to do than bugs are, you don't get different or better rewards for doing them. It's just "oh, if doing helldive with bugs isn't rage-inducing enough for you, do it on super hardcore mode with robots that can rocket-snipe you across the map and spawn in even more mobs/waves than bugs do. I had a mission last night where 8 drop ships came in one after another in one spot, on difficulty 6, not even 7-9. It was absolutely absurd and even our group of 4 couldn't do anything about it. And you can't just run off like you can with bugs, they shoot you from anywhere on the map, and you just aggro even more as you go. Bugs I can do on helldive, but bots, I have to run at 3-4 difficulty level to even have a hope of completing them, and what's the point? you barely even get rare samples then, or I can do bugs and get all 3 types of samples and actually have a chance of completing the mission.

    The spear will lock on to bot factories, hulks, tanks and dropships. They won't kill a dropship in 1 hit tho so don't bother
    They will one shot a factory tho which is nice if you feel like cross mapping an outpost

    I have a lot of fun using a variety of weapons against the terminids, but bots just suck. I am happy with the latest patch for fighting terminids, but it really still sucks fighting bots. Not enough viable weapons. It's just annoying. I would like to use the anti-material rifle more, but on controller it is just absurdly difficult to land the necessary crits with all the movement of targets, incoming fire, and explosions. The number of times I've been perfectly on target at non-moving targets and it misses is stupid. Needs fixed.
    Needs a serious balance update for bots. I mean, ffs, the the plas-1 scorcher can break bot shields and shoot through the bot walker shields, but the laser cannon can't do crap against them. It's ridiculous. The more I play, the more I am disappointed despite really liking the game. Way too many stupidly balanced or otherwise messed up weapon interactions, and that's to say nothing of the armor system.
    I'm just hungry and cranky right now, so I'm venting it off lol.

      Haha, it's cool vent away as long as it's not directed at a person. I could see that where the anti material rifle would be hard on controller. I play almost every game with controller even though I'm on pc, but this one just has too many precise shots for me to keep up with so I use MKB. The bots are definitely harder in that aspect too. I know what you mean about being on target and the crit not hitting too. Especially with the bots that seem like their head is sunk into their armor a bit a lot of the bullets from support weapons seem to have a kind of big hit box and they'll hit the armor first instead of the head.

    I've seen an autocannon sentry inconsistently take out a dropship but I couldn't replicate it with the shoulder version

      Autocannon sentry is a bigger Autocannon, does more damage and can pen some heavy armours. The sentry aims at the center of the ship, so will never hit the thruster unless the angle of the ship is just right that the shot hits the thruster, then it can, in some cases, knock the ship out. Very inconsistent though, which is the name of this game at this point.

    Spear can lock onto fabricators and is a guaranteed one shot. This strategy works poorly on maps with excessive high foliage such as trees and bushes, in flat maps, areas where you are below bases, and maps with horrible line of sight (nothing but canyons).
    Spear is also highly effective vs. gunships, 1 shotting them, and it doesn't often complain about locking.

    Killed a tank with a laser cannon, did you see the non glowing vents at the back of the tank? (mainbody, not the turret) just 3 sec of laser into that and the tank goes on fire, run before it explodes.

      Meh, they will often chase you almost a kilometer far and very rapidly call in reinforcements, not getting those called in the first place is better than running away 80% of the mission and then having to sidestep Mordor's entire army if you need to go back into that direction

      @@nickkohlmann me and my friend did like 10 missions on impossible vs the bots full stelth if the spot us we run half of the map and prown and crouch all the time but the most interesting thing is that we avoid fights at extraction because we lay low somewhere and the bots just walk away and we evac EASy :D

    I liked breaker a lot. It was fun weapon to use. I used liberator or defender when I wanted to do some dakka. But problem is not that the breaker is op. It is a good weapon and with a mag dump u can kill commander. But other guns just feel like shit. When you facing a mid enemy I expect my primary to deal with it with full mag dump, but for most weapons its not a reality, or its literally full mag dump for most enemies, so you need to waste 10 mags for 10 enemies.
    Also what the fk players who only 10-13 levels frogotten at fkng HELLDIVE the max diff. Nobody care what you bring into fkng 6th level diff, becouse you can do it if 1 guy bring some Anti Armor. But in diff 7+ all 4 people need to bring AA. And why everybody used breaker and railgun? Becose other weapons are pretty shitty when you need to fight hoards of enemies to do an objective.
    And people in discord calling all the people who do helldive and use raigun and breaker metaslaves. Wtf is wrong with you. You whine that you can easily do helldives with other weapons and this is a skill issue, but I know taht you dont do helldives. Befor nerfs with a lot of kiting, sneaking around and disengaging we had a pretty good survival rate. Most of the time I experienced full team extract in 20-30 minutes, with a 3/4 players who know what to do. Now it mostly we do all objective and all die in 40 minutes. We can no longer properly disengage, kiting kinda useless we have nothing reliable to kill thing. To be fair Railgun was kinda too strong. Not a lot of people could 1 shot titatan, but ok, it is super strong to have this ability, especially when they nerfed railcannon and 500 kg bomb, which is fkng stupid, with amount of titans and chargers we must deal in helldive. But back to why nobody use other stuff. Recoiless Rifle: it is weak and have long reload, you say it is for coop, I say NOT EVERYBODY SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE, or even want to be a reloader, and even with reloader you have ammo to strip 6 chargers or to kill 3, or 3 shots minimum to kill a titan, which we usually have 2-3, or 5-6 if we didnt killed first ones . With 2-3 being minimum amount of chargers in a breach its not a lot for a 8 minut cooldown thing. To be fair you can reload it if you find boxes of ammo one rocket per box, or use resupply, 2 or 3 boxes out of 4. Also to shoot fast you need to keep 2 people occupied, and standing still, which usually mean death, also it do jack shit against autamatons heavies. So pretty not efficien for its price.
    EAT actually not that bad. You can drop it in pairs every 70 seconds and can be shot in rapid succession. 1 shot to strip armor, 2 headshots to kill titan, not all that bad, but you can drop it usually only once before shit hits the fan. And its pretty hard to find a place to drop it when you can pick it up and use. Also do jack shit against automaton armor.
    SPEAR shitty lock on. Sometimes its just not working, even if the enemy clearly seen and in the normal distance. It may 1 shot things or not kill it in all 4 shots. With bugs it is less frustraiting becouse if it not 1 shotting charger you can finish it off with somehing else, and titan need 3 shots max, out of 4, but if you lucky it will hit his head and 1 shot it. But with automatons... You can just miss... Rocket may overshoot or it may hit armor and do nothing. So you easer 1 shot the thing or you can use all 4 rounds and hit its armor with 0 damge, it is rare but it may happen. To be fair you can use it to blow up barracks, if it will lovk on...

      Safe Mode is less effective now. It isn't "dead", it got served given that almost everyone was solely relying on it apparently. Try unsafe mode. Needs better timing, will have lower rate of fire, but still viable.

      And no in gods name they didn't "nerf everything into the ground", the breaker has a little less ammo and slightly raised recoil with DAMAGE UNCHANGED, the shield has a longer recharge rate once broken but is unchanged besides that, and the NORMAL MODE of the railgun is less penetrating, while the unsafe mode however remains just as effective and will now be more necessary than previously. Is the railgun suddenly complete shit? No. Did it get a little nerf because it was the most used and strong weapon in the game? Yes. That is part of what balancing means to devs. Raise the worst a bit, lower the best a bit. Don't be overly hysterical. Besides, MOST WEAPONS AND GEAR ARE UNAFFECTED.
