crazy how much changed from the 60s to the 70s, not just with the piano bass but with basically everything in the musical instrument industry, like the block inlays on 70s j basses and the era of oddball guitars put out by gibson in the 70s norlin era.
ive always imagined that most of that was due to the whole malaise thing, but a lot of stuff seems to have kind of just disappeared and been forgotten even as new eras rolled around that werent as awful as im sure things were in the 70s (wood slats and mirrors everywhere), like the pre-70s piano bass, a reissue of which would in all likelihood sell very well to the now much larger market of people who make music with electronic instruments.
i would feel bad owning and playing a 60s piano bass because i just know id break it by spilling my coffee on it but id 100% buy and play (and break) a replica in a heartbeat because it's snazzy

Hello, unfortunately I cannot give you a name or any direction for where I got that stand, I think it was on amazon some years ago. It's a foldout bedside table.
As for tuning; I don't think it warrants a separate video for since it is pretty self explanatory. I use an app called Verituner for work which I also use for these projects, but it is very expensive so I don't think a video on it would help many people. There are some cheaper piano tuning apps that may have questionable results but for hundreds of dollars less, so you might want to try that. They are all pretty automatic, you just start with A4 or play all the keys to give the app a baseline and then work your way up the keyboard.

The difference in tone was like flats vs rounds on an electric bass, the 60s model had the fat thumping of flats and the 70s model had a clear and more defined tone. Bass should be fat and thumpy, so the 60s for me, every day of the week.

Very nice comparison. That gorgeous 60s Piano Bass probably belongs in a museum behind glass. Not many of them left in such great shape. Being effectively irreplaceable, it would be kind of a pity to wear it out by playing it. Sell it for an outrageously high price to a rich musician who will add it to their collection of vintage keys. Cheers.
