    • @Stylesewme
      @Stylesewme  Před 5 lety +1

      Great question! The fabric is knitted, but it did not have any stretch in it. So, I treated it as if it was a non-stretch fabric.
      Grainlines are always given as guidelines on patterns, but I encourage you to play around with manipulation and placement. Breaking the "rules" may give some great results!

    Hey! Love the tutorial! I was just wondering where you got those huge sheets of fabric, sorry if this is a dumb question, but all the ones I’ve seen at the stores are already cut in half like how you showed in the beginning. If this is an obvios question sorry, but I’m new to sewing

    • @Stylesewme
      @Stylesewme  Před 4 lety +3

      Happy to answer! At the beginning of this video, my fabric was folded in half. As the video progresses you see me unfold the fabric to show it's full width. (So think of a sheet of paper folded in half. That's what you see.)
      In the fabric store, the fabric is folded (like at the beginning of the video) and wrapped around a cardboard base. It simply saves space.
      The width of fabrics come from 45 - 60 inches wide when completely unfolded. The fabric in this video was 60 inches (probably a bit more). So you can find these fabrics at any fabric store!
      Hope that makes sense - welcome to sewing!

    • @Stylesewme
      @Stylesewme  Před 7 lety

      As I mentioned in the video, your skirt length is limited to the width of your fabric. So, your skirt, at a maximum, would be approximately 43 inches taking a half inch seam allowance at the waist and hem. If that works for you, go for it. If not, you will need to use a wider fabric.
