I was once travelling in a first class from Basra to mumbai with my parents and my 2 year old child.
My compartment was locked when we slept. The next morning I woke up at 6 and found that my purse was missing with cash and my card and ID. As we had VVIP travellers who lost their belongings also, a police case was filed and weighing 5 days police caught the thief around manmad and Nashik.
He was a professional thief and knew how to open a closed first class cabin. I mean just wow how they do it.
I was really really happy that nothing happened to my family. I heard some people steal kids too. I was scared to death listening to it. Now I never sleep if at all I travel by train.

@@AH-ej3rx so I either travel by flight (which was my profession and I am used to travelling by flight) but if you don’t want to do that, You can opt for sleeping buses (red bus) if you are comfortable doing that or if you like to drive get a zoom car or Avis car service. You can also hire a driver on day basis if you are in India (I think it’s comfortable if you are in spare of time)

Guys, I'm from Bihar and a thief stole my first phone ever from the train's window while the train was in motion. My brain wasn't working at that time, so my first reflex was to exit the door and catch him, but it's my luck that the thief had already locked the door from outside earlier, otherwise my brain would have told me to jump. I don't know where was he standing and where did he came from. It was one of the most terrifying moments of my life. After that I've always been more cautious about my surroundings. And now, i travel only from AC class. Or if i ever go into sleeper, no sitting near the windows.

I can relate to this very well. On 21st Nov, 2022 I had an interview Scheduled. I boarded a bus. A minute later, the ticket conductor had asked me to purchase the ticket. I quickly realised that I had lost my wallet and I quoted the same. He understood my concern and gave me a ticket and bore the amount himself. I lost my ID, everything. I was embarassed when I was being checked with my ID and when I had retorted the same, they had to disqualify me. Even though the Bus conductor was helpful, fate was different. Never cried in such a manner as I had cried in that day. Eversince I began to carry my wallet in my trousers' front side pocket instead of back pocket.

It contained all his Documents, 2500 Rs , Headphones, Food , etc necessary things. He belongs to a Poor family and when this happened trust me he wanted to Kill that person who stole it.

It's very easy to say all this until you get robbed! All those sympathy you're giving for a theft will turn upside down once you are in that situation! My cousin that stays in small village travel 300+ km to buy a phone after he worked his @ss off for 6months but on the way when he got off the bus someone unzip his backpack and took his money and his only phone (keypad) he reached my house crying! All his excitement turned into a nightmare, I couldn't do anything but to give him my phone! You guys might think I'm evil but I'll choose my belongings over a theft life, if they can't do a honest work, ruining people's happiness, they don't deserve to live either way. It's Bihar. Quite a common incidents. People only will have to be more alert. Whether it's window seat or not. These thieves used to snatch anything and everything. Such is the living condition over there. It's all bcoz they don't want to work and earn. Most of them always sit on the road sides and watch closely to snatch and run away. after seeing these comments in the comments section sympathising for the thief , i am restoring my belief in humanity .. there are a lot of people who are good ... the fix is to not to take law into their own hands..... there would be a child waiting in his home for bread and his papa... think about it .. this guy don't deserve to get killed for stealing.....

While he should be punished for robbery or attempted robbery! The guys holding him in a moving train are MONSTERS! Imagine the agony he had to go through while handing. If the man was sent to cops, he would be charged with a “PETTY THEFT”. But if he dies in this train mishap, the person holding that man would be charged with “FIRST DECREE MAN SLAUGHTER”! Humans should know their priorities!
