Just critiquing to maybe help you achieve better skills or habits as a Farrier, I’m in no means talking shit I am just straight forward, honest and not a ass kisser. I owe my mentors a lot for all their knowledge and honesty that has made me a better Farrier. This is what I see in this video. Improper way to sight alight a hoof for balance medial, lateral , dorsal and palmer. Still a good amount of dorsal wall to be dressed back. Properly fitting a clipped shoe rather it be side clips, quarter clips, toe clips or triple clips they should always be burned in to the wall in accordance with hoof capsule angle , NEVER hammered in as it causes tubule damage to the laminae. The shoe was not fitted flat to the hoof it only burned at the toe and medial side barely. The ground surface of the shoe doesn’t need rounded off that’s just a waste of time. Could use some work on the way you bevel the shoe or “Safe” the shoe. Nail placement could use some work, higher nail placement is easily achievable with proper shoe fit. For a proper clinching you should gouge with a “Gouge” as it sets the proper depth for the clinch to be flush with the hoof wall. After all that work the hoof capsule is still not properly balanced as you can see from the dorsal view the lateral side is further away from the hairline than the medial. Always remember to fit the shoe to hoof, and not the hoof to the shoe.
No one asked lmao I don’t get y’all if he wanted help with something he would ask you “ critiquing” someone who didn’t ask isn’t critiquing is unwanted coments

The heels need to come back at least an inch which would open them up at the back. It seems to me that the bulb of the frog is jammed up because the heels are far too long
@Haley and Grandpa, I agree. You are supposed to make the shoe fit the hoof not the other way around. He is a cheap-shit shoer, who leaves the toe too long then rasps it off! Two weeks later the owner is scratching his head wondering why it look like like the horse needs to be reset. . . again.

the pups sneaking snacks

Dogs love hanging around while you trim, they get a yummy snack 🥨. Why do animals enjoy hooves so much? There must be nutrition there. Keratin? 🤔
Its bone marrow, so same as the inside of a yummy bone, I shod horses for years & sometimes you had to keep the dogs away if the horses were skiddish.
@@NoName-qt6wb ummm... hooves are made of keratin. No bone marrow at all. Are you sure?
@@NoName-qt6wb Bone marrow is in bones, not in hooves. Dogs are attracted to the smell of trimmings but actually can cause obstruction inside.
