- Tim finally had his hair cut at the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street.. he even got a little pixie dust at the end.
Then it started to rain and we were almost evacuated from Pirates of the Caribbean. It was awesome, you guys will get to see some of the ride with the lights on. I even left in some of the audio to show you guys how maddening it is to be stuck in one spot with the audio looping for over 30 minutes. Tim went a little crazy.
Almost all of our fast passes were rained out so we decided on indoor rides instead. We went on the Haunted Mansion (which we were stuck on) and Ariel's Journey of the Little Mermaid (also stopped on). So all in all it was a pretty awesome day at the Magic Kingdom!

You know it's funny going back and watching these in 2019. My mom was a huge fan, and I remember her watching these videos and I just commented like, "That curly mustache thing is an... interesting look that's for sure. I have a feeling it won't be permanent though." She liked the look. She passed away almost 3 years ago due to cancer she never even knew she had. So I find myself watching these videos still and feel like i'm still watching them with her. I know you guys are having a baby, and I imagine my mom would be so happy for you two. She always loved watching you two and taking your advice for disney trips. Even planning a future disneyworld trip based off things you guys did.

The ballroom scene in the Haunted Mansion is a Pepper's Ghost illusion, but my favorite part of it is that the imagineers apparently didn't think about the fact that it would be a mirror image, so in the ballroom the women are actually leading the men in the dance.
Correct! The animatronics are actually UNDER and ABOVE the ride track and reflected in the glass to perfectly align with the furniture in the room. The "columns" in the scene hide the seams between the huge pieces of glass. Apparently, there is a bullet hole in one of the glass panels, disguised as a cobb web, since replacing the glass would cost $1million because they have to remove the roof to do it!
Actually there are no seams in the glass. It's all one piece. That's why they just stuck the spider on it instead of removing it, because they can't just change one section of glass, they'd literally have to remove the entire panel.

dondon4720 I got stuck in there for 10 mins apparently they have sensors that if you touch ANYTHING of the decorations the ride automatically stops due to safety reasons and a kid touched a doll thingy and so yeah..... song stuck in my head even on the next day that we went to universal

years ago, had a 45 minute standby, then had a disembarkment backlog of 30 minutes before we could get off the boat.
I got stuck on the people mover for 30 minutes then we got evacuated. It was so weird to be walking on the track. The only good thing was that all of my friends were with me so we got 6 fast passes 😀

I love how my holiday in florida is still dominated about the story of getting stuck on Everest and the fact they had to get the fire department to get me out as I use a wheelchair :)

I put my hand in the water of The Pirates of the Caribbean ride when I was a kid. They stopped the ride and turned on the lights.

I was sooo tempted to do that when we did Pirates of The Carribean, It's A Small World, and Splash Mountain last November. I'm glad I didnt try -- I would have felt really embarrassed and guilty if I was the cause of a ride stopping. LOL

Most of the time (operative word is MOST), the rides are actually NOT stuck, they have to stop the cars for two reasons:
If it's not an Omni-Mover ride (separate vehicles), they stop them because the spacing between the cars is getting too close to each other. This could cause long waits if they were allowed to pile up to one side of the track, or can cause injury. This also includes the Monorail system.
If it is an Omni-Mover ride (cars in a continuous chain), it's likely that they have to stop the ride to assist the elderly, or those with disabilities, to get on or off the ride. I was with a group that fell into both categories, and they did stop a few rides to help get them on and off before the boarding dock space ran out.
If there's a "Log Jam", it's because the exiting of a ride is taking too long, typically elderly and the disabled may have a large impact on this, or cramming too many vehicles through at a time. Pirates is notorious for this.
These are typically the times the ride stops for a minute or two, then resumes. If there's a lot of assistance needed, it can take several minutes.

Tim! There's some superstition based around the last bat pole in the Haunted Mansion loading queue. The rumor is if you rub the top of the bat's head as you walk by, you'll have good luck! Random I know but that's the lore of the attraction, sort of like saying hello to George in Pirates.

I just realized something
I went to Magic Kingdom that same day as him in 2014. I was 7. Now I am almost 13 and I am a HUGE fan of them. What a small world we all live in!

Once I got stuck in Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom for about 15 minutes and it was really creepy because the turned the lights on and all the dinosaurs didn't function but their heads kept moving. After 15 minutes the ride continued but what was the worst was that when we were stuck in there there was no WIFI !!!!!!!
If you ever need to get inside to wait out the wether (and because it's amazing) I totally recommend Mickey's Philharmagic

OMG I HAD THE WORST LUCK AT MAGIC KINGDOM OMG!!! First I went on the Haunted Mansion, and all the Doombuggies were stuck in the graveyard for about 10min! Then in Pirates of the Caribbean, the boats were stuck for about 15min, then on the monorail back to parking, the monorail in front of us was experiencing technical difficulties, and we were stuck there for 25min! Ugh!
I probably had the worst actually... I was almost in the front of the line for The Snow White ride when it all of a sudden CAUGHT ON FIRE!!!!!! We had to be evacuated, but at least it wasn't that long. It took the people about 45 minutes..

I was literally there the week before you and THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME ON PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN!!!! The ride shut down for like an hour because a boat had jumped off the truck and then we moved backwards. And the crazier part is that I was in that same exact scene or the ride!!!! And the minute before me and my brother were talking about George (the ghost of pirates).

Apparently Johnny Depp will sometimes dress up as Jack Sparrow and replace the animatronic in Pirates of the Caribbean. Urban myth?
He actually is known to like to do this. I've heard he will go on the Disney cruise also and dress up as Jack Sparrow for the meet and greet on Pirates night. When I was on the cruise I could have sworn the guy that I met for the Jack Sparrow meet and greet looked just like him and sounded exactly like him!! Later I found out it could have actually been him but I don't know. It may be some myth hahahah

I've been watching your videos for the past 3 days now and I enjoy them so much. I am in my mid 50's now and on a fixed (read limited) income and can no longer afford to go to these places. I grew up in So. Cal and enjoyed Disney very much as a kid and young adult. When I watch your videos I catch myself smiling most of the time and even some times misting up a bit at the memories of my youth. Thank you so much for what you have done here. When I went to disney world I went to the scare floor and I herd the same Elsa joke
For haunted mansion, to explain, in the ballroom scene, there are animatronics under and above you. There is a big glass sheet, and I don’t know exactly how this part works, but the animatronics are reflected to the room opposite. So that scene is happening with animatronics under and above you (notice there aren’t any ghosts at eye level). What you are seeing is their reflection, just to hopefully clear things up a little bit. I didn’t know what was happening for a while, but recently my dad explained this to me so I thought I’d pass it on
Just so you know you didn't actually get stuck the reason why Haunted Mansion stopped and Little Mermaid stopped was because they were loading on guests who needed help on the moving platform. Pirates of the Caribbean actually probably was stopped because of an incident the Haunted Mansion and Little Mermaid were only stopped because of a guest who couldn't walk on a moving belt.

Lol how no pixie dust came out. One time, when I was like seven, I got my hair done at the barber shop and then they covered my whole head with the pixie dust (like 5x harder than they did with yours and Jenn's) and then RIGHT after I got my hair done me and my mom went on splash mountain. After the big drop, there was glitter ALLLLLLL OVER our boatXD. But yea, those jokes were to puntastic!!!
