    Thank you for your videos. And your love for those Salmer clarinet and accessories. Just before the lockdown I found a used privilege Clarinet in my local music shop. I thought it was great I have seen a few years ago Chen Haley playing the old privilege and I thought it was great. I have watched many videos including yours and have become interested in the signature Clarinet mainly through the videos or Stephen Williamson of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on the other great American musician Todd Levy. Although I play Salmer Saxophones I have never owned one of the Clarinet I want to recently, I was brought up in the UK to believe that they were the Jazz Clarinet - whatever that means! Personally I have played a pair of R 13 s Since 1970 as well as the large bore Peter Eaton instruments The last English clarinets - I like your enthusiasm and attention to detail, yes we have to try them for ourselves but what you say is very helpful. I would be interested what your thoughts are on the signature instrument. It may be a little different to play but I do like the “pure” sound producers. Thank you I have tried the concept Morris peace and agree with you I no need to try the others - you are correct in saying that Selmer Make great most vicious that come with the instruments. I’ve played for many years one of the order and nice pieces on the buffet clarinets - God bless you - keep up the good work - Bill - UK

    Thank you once again Dr Larkin and your attention to detail. Selmer do make great mouthpieces which you get with a new Selmer Clarinet or Saxophone. Of course they have been making mouthpieces and reeds since the late 19 th. Century and also give great attention to detail. I hope that you review tha new Selmer clarinet reeds. I used Selmer reeds many many years ago when Vandoren were impossible to get hold of here in Britain!
    I played a Selmer mouthpiece for many years on R 13 s I liked the warm sound of the materials. You are doing a great job getting us to look at some different instruments and accessories. God bless you. Bill. Uk

    Do you know if the concept is less resistant than a vandoren B45? I'm looking for something with a similar tip opening but with less resistance.

      Some mouthpieces vary between the same model, try trying different b45’s and different concepts.

    Sonata by Brahms in the style of Hungarian Dances. How can one play like that?

    .110 is like a 5RV Lyre not B 40 or B45 which are about .119

      We're talking about microscopic differences, so keep in mind that the numbers are a mere 9 thousandths of a millimeter apart. I stand by my comparison.

      @@cleverclarinetist if you play a .110 and .119, you will notice a very large difference. No?

    • @cleverclarinetist
      @cleverclarinetist  Před 2 lety

      @@robertknapp6422 5RV has a smaller opening (~1.06) than B40 (~1.119), and it is the tenth of a millimeter that makes a significant difference. There The difference between 1.11 and 1.119 is so tiny! Further, manufacturing tolerances for Vandoren mouthpieces aren't that tight, and it's possibly that a mouthpiece with the specification of 1.11 could come out as a 1.119 mouthpiece anyway. So, no, I don't think there's much of a difference between those two numbers because machinery doesn't give us that kind of accuracy to know any better.

      It serves me no good purpose to disagree, so I will drop the subject.
      However, I do have an interest in the new Selmer Bb mouthpieces because the Concept bass clarinet mouthpiece appears to be a vast improvement over what Selmer has offered in the past 30 or so years.
