Tuning the bow and arrows puts gives me more confidence and puts my mind at ease enabling me to focus on what I’m doing on every shot when shooting either 3D or indoor spots
That's probably going to rile some people up, but he's correct. Put any bow, hunting or target, tuned or "untuned" into a Hooter Shooter, and it will group consistently at a greater distance than the owner of the bow. It doesn't matter if it comes out sideways and the vanes have to do a collosal amount of correction. A bow is a simple machine that will do the same thing every time as long as it is supplied with the same input every time. Consistency of form and shot execution is more important than the equipment being used. The same can be said of hunting, and just because the broad heads and field points don't hit together, it does not mean that if the archer moves his sight to match the point of impact, that the broadheads are not going to hit that spot if the archer is consistent. That said, hunters should be doing everything they can to ensure they are going to get a clean, ethical kill. They owe it to the animal. So they should be doing some tuning and a whole lot of practicing.
It really is true.. someone who actually practices/focuses on form and fundamentals will absolutely smoke the bozo who spends all his time "super tuning" his bow... i have seen it happen plenty.
I tell people before you even shoot you first arrow you need to 1. Watch at least 50 episodes of the joe rgan podcasts 2. Practice saying "good line" In an condescending way 3. Spend at least 3k on a new bow. If its not new its basically worth noting 4. Pick up a stick and approach a trad archer and say "you dropped your bow" a handful of times a day Then you can finally star your journey as a compound archer the right way
Bow tuning not nearly as important as having your arrows "tuned". Like a wheel thats out of balance, an out of tune/balance arrow will wobble and be inconsistent. Tuning the bow gives every arrow the best chance of stabilising faster to account for arrow inconsistency
Sounds like he's talking about 20 yard tournament shooting. For the first time I recently nock tuned my arrows and then tuned the bow so that a bare shaft was putting a bullet hole in the paper at 8 yards and hitting with my fletched shaft at twenty. I'm getting great groups and my arrows are flying perfectly true; no wobbling tail and arrows sticking out in different directions from the target.
I agree with about everything he says and drink most of his "Kool aid" - but to say "high quality"products doesn't really matter when he makes a living selling top shelf archery gear.....mhmmn....
Well yes if you buy a little better gear you will shoot a little better and if you improve your shooting technique the result will be much better this is so until you try to shoot a broadhead. It is not enough to shoot well, you have to be able to adjust your bow to your shooting technique in order to achieve perfect arrow flight, otherwise even an Olympic medal will not help you.
I meet a 7 world champion, he shot the same bow for 15 years. He doesn’t shoot every day in fact he picked up his bow the day before the first national 2024 and won.
Might not matter for target archery since the fletchings can steer the field tip well. It's a different story when you put a fixed blade broadhead on the tip instead.
It’s evident by reading your comment that you didn’t either A) listen to the whole video, B) comprehend the video, or C) didn’t even watch the video and only commented based off of the title and thumbnail.

George Ryalls said that about 5 years ago.

Kyle Douglas says he’s picked up bows that shot spot on so he didn’t bother tuning it other than draw length, peep height and holding weight.
